How is this song a #1 hit on iTunes despite all the Christmas songs? It feels fishy here... well for one thing, its not christmas yet. another thing, her and shelton have a good track record with itunes and sales in general. three, it's gwen stefani.

Yeah, doesn't seem odd to me at all. That AJR song that's been out for months is selling like 90% of #1, so I think a new release topping the chart is normal.

Yeah it's just a new release by an artist with a good track record in sales. I mean, we are talking about the first artist to sell one million digital units of course.
Also, like, it's iTunes. It's not hard to get to #1 there anymore. What is that, like 3-5k sales per day?

Lol, I get it that iTunes ain't what it used to be. Guess I'm just biased because I don't like this song (nor see its potential) as much as her TIWTTFL singles, none of which reached #1.

🤦♂️ I'm happy for her success but...
I know country singles do very well on iTunes. But this is not a country single.
I know Blake can sell records. But this is not a Blake song.
I know "Hollaback Girl" was a big digital seller. But this is 2020.
I know Gwen's following probably still buy digital singles. But they didn't support her this hard with songs like "Baby Don't Like" and "Make Me Like You".
There must be something special about this one song that I don't get. Peace.

Supporting this hard just means 5k sold on iTunes.
Britney had a similar situation with "Mood Ring" earlier this year and she still missed the Hot 100.
Unless it starts showing promise on other metrics I wouldn't read too much into the iTunes numbers.

A lot of older female pop acts who debuted in the 80s and 90s seem to do well on iTunes in the first week and my guess is it’s because their fans are mostly in their 30s, 40s, and 50s and may still be purchasing digital downloads. iTunes has become a very poor predictor of what’s popular or will become a hit. The teens and twenty somethings that are crucial for making songs hits are not buying music on iTunes. Gwen hitting #1 just tells me she has a dedicated fan base, and a decent number of them are still buying digital downloads. Same with Mariah, Britney, etc.
This outperforming the singles from her last album also doesn’t mean much in my opinion because those singles came out 4-5 years ago which is a long time in the music industry and sales have collapsed further in that time period while streaming has become even more the format of choice.

She performed this on The Voice yesterday, that's why it's #1.

Yes but selling 5 copies when everyone else is selling 2 is still... just 5 copies.

It would make no sense for her to try to push this on radio (or anywhere really other than for a few days), right before Xmas.

Hey, I don't mind this! That said, I am a Gwen stan and have loved ALL No Doubt albums and her solo albums, lowkey. As for her lyrics...well...the only time I have EVER really liked her lyrics were on Return Of Saturn and her song Cool, but her lyrics have usually run the gamut from basic to absolutely batshit insane and that's fine with me! She is always a vibe!

I don't know what to think of this..."BAnananana's" oh that's right I do. .It sucks. "Hollaback Girl" is better and I F U C K ING hated that song.

It has no originality, but is definitely better than "Wind It Up".

This is cute for what it is, but it's just there. It feels like an interlude/intro and not really proper song.

This inclusion might be a little bit strange. However, if it's considered that "Let Me Reintroduce Myself" seems like it's inspired by Gwen's early work with No Doubt, I guess Interscope wants to cater the Alternative audience this time.

If she ever wanted to reintroduce herself to Alternative, then Alternative has to at first rereintroduce itself to sellout pop...

I would take the modern rock promo selection with a grain of salt. Remember that Kanye was a selection a few months ago and not a single station added him. Just a hunch.

A poor facsimile of her previous sounds, which makes the title slightly cynical rather than revelatory.

Are there any Gwen Stefani songs that you like? For No Doubt almost everything. For her solo I love "Cool", but then again who doesn't right? "Sweet Escape" is decent, and her X-Mas stuff is nice. and I also dug that last No Doubt album 'Push and Shove'". I'm not into the Bling Bling Pop stuff, nor the dancy tropical sounding stuff, and I'm certainly not into this Bnanananananan's song. Gwen has great vocal tones and a fantastic stage presence. I guess I expected more after that hiatus.
