Ok some final thoughts on these reveals since I was gone: 10 (Savage): Really? This is the first song out? This slaps, should've been higher. 9 (Circles): This was my #1 for the 2019 rd lol. It's still pretty good but I'll admit it suffered from burnout for me. 8 (bad guy): Such a banger, one of the most interesting beats on this list. 7 (The Bigger Picture): Honestly just really happy this made the top ten. Such an empowering song, and also one of his best songs. 6 (The Box): This is a solid song, would've been cool to see this slightly higher ngl 5 (Adore You): I've kinda gone back and forth on this in the past, but it's definitely one of his better songs looking at it. Definitely glad this is higher than Watermelon Sugar 4 (Break My Heart): Did this really need to make the top 4? There were so many options which would've been more interesting than this lol Least surprising top 3 ever but also it's still pretty solid 3 (everything I wanted): I didn't expect this to beat DSN or Blinding Lights but would've been cool to see it happen. Such a beautiful song, that chorus especially has always clicked for me. 2 (Don't Start Now): One of the few songs on FN that hasn't burned on me tbh. This is pretty infectious tbh. 1 (Blinding Lights): Definitely glad this won over DSN, the synths in this are absolutely incredible imo. There's a reason this was the #1 song of the year! Thank you for hosting lyhom , you did an amazing job hosting this! Like i said i've tanked other songs i shouldn't have like (Break My Heart, Savage, Say So, the Lizzo songs and Mariah) I really don't understand this part of the post. I suppose everyone just ranks the song solely by taste and not trying to tilt the rankdown results? |

Wait let me steal wrip 's template real' quick 10 (Savage): Yeah I saw this coming. The song is a banger though. 9 (Circles): I really can't see how this could be someone's #100. Pretty awesome pop song that got me a perfect ranking! 8 (bad guy): Timeless smash. 7 (The Bigger Picture): This was my lowest remaining song but it definitely deserves to be here. Very good. 6 (The Box): This lowkey deserved #4. One of the #1 hits of the year that actually felt like... #1 hits. 5 (Adore You): I knew this would place high but it probably aged harder than the rest of the top 10. Still a strong pop song though. 4 (Break My Heart): I kinda wish this was lower. 3 (everything I wanted): I was really rooting for this. This song is phenomenal. I guess some might find it boring but... bottom 10? For the least divisive slash offensive song ever? Call it what it is, chauvinism. 2 (Don't Start Now): This is undeniably one of the best pop hits in recent memory. I'm lowkey glad it didn't win, though knowing that sexist fraud ranked it second to last on purpose really ruins all of the excitement. Like, 80-something? I get it, it's not your cup of tea. But "Don't Start Now" as the 2nd worst song of this list? Annnyways. 1 (Blinding Lights): THE #1 song of the year. Seeing this first really feels right, since it's one of the biggest hits in history and one of the best hits as well. This top 10 was Born-friendly enough to boost me up 10 spots in closeness

So this is the second Year-End rankdown after 1995 where the #1 song of the year is also Pulse's #1 song (do correct me if there were other occasions). Despite a certain factor being the sole reason for Dua's loss, I'm really happy with our winner. Predictable, sure, but a phenomenal song nonetheless. As for the rest of our top 10, I'm happy "bad guy" didn't stick around for too long, and let the amazing "everything I wanted" shine instead. "Circles" and "The Bigger Picture" deserved better, but I understand the former being a repeat hindered its chances. I had such a fun time following this rankdown, and lyhom truly did a great job hosting. Congratulations! (and add me to #teamgooddays for 2021 😉) |
