I'm delighted to see Ariana Grande holding up with three songs in the top 10 despite the Christmas invasion (although one of those is her own Christmas track).
Probably one of the most impressive showcases of a double single promotion working effectively.

It'd be cool If Brenda's Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree hit the #1, because she'll be the oldest artist (76) to top the chart. AND THAT with a song she recorded when she was 13. Taking into account her age when she recorded RATCT, she would kinda be both the oldest AND youngest woman ever to hit number one...with the same single! The record for youngest female artist to hit number one has been held by Little Peggy March, with "I Will Follow Him", since 1963. She turned 15 just a few weeks before it hit #1. A different perspective Bing Crosby is in the top 40 now with White Christmas, a song recorded in 1942 at age 39 Would you say that this is a top 40 song by a 39 year old or someone who is 117?

I want Brenda Lee to become the oldest overall artist top the Hot 100 either next week or the week after.
If she finally leaves her rocking chair and releases a quick, live, acoustic performance on YouTube or iTunes then it’s a done deal.
Come on LEGEND!

Yes, asterisks are needed for acts whose old holiday hits reach new heights, when talking about the age at which the hit was achieved. It's not like scoring a top hit with a newly recorded track. Brenda Lee scored a No. 2 with a song first released in 1958, when she was 13. Mimi Carey scored a No. 1 hit with a sing first released in 1994, when she was 24/25. and, of course, deceased acts like Andy Williams, Bobby Helms, Burl Ives, etc. reaching new heights with songs that are 50-plus years old. So on and so forth.

^Indeed. :) Would be nice to see "Rockin...' hit No. 1 n the Hot 100, though as strong as it is, I don't know it would have enough juice to overtake "All I Want..." Without tacking on a current hot act that is.

Why is Without You suddenly so high on Spotify? Listen to it. It is like Mood/Rockstar. A good song that probably got the TikTok boost but it would've been a hit regardless.

The Kid Laroi is such a plant... and I even hate using that word. At least his label might be satisfied something has finally stuck after all the playlist push and the multiple Tik Tok attempts
Hopefully the black producer he ripped off gets a moment to shine in 2021 too

The way she delivered a timeless classic when she was barely in puberty. Truly Legendary! 👏🏿 She ist just a simple peasant compared to Miss Blue Ivy Carter, star-studded publicist and entrepreneur on her own, who is already having numerous chart achievements and accolades under her belt, all while making sure her mommy and daddy are staying booked.

It's interesting that Lil Nas X's HOLIDAY ended up becoming a pretty stable charting hit on Spotify/Apple/YouTube, but it honestly just doesn't even feel like it has impacted at the same time.

It's an interesting song because it's hard to tell if it's stability is partly due to it being the holiday season and if so, does that mean it'll dip once the holiday season is over like other Christmas-themed songs or is it's stability organic and will it see a huge gain in positions when all the Christmas songs fall off in the new year? I don't care much for the song but it's performance so far has definitely been interesting.

I definitely don't think Brenda Lee possibly hitting number one at 76 is the same as Cher hitting number one at 52, and shouldn't be regarded as such, but these Christmas hits recharting do create interesting situations regardless of "official" records. Bing Crosby, born in 1903, is currently in the top 40 alongside artists born in 2001/2002. It's an unusual circumstance but it's still pretty cool.

It is cool, but yes the differing nature of holiday songs merits an asterisk. There is also a general conversation to be had about the age of recording versus the age an artist is when a song charts. Holiday songs are an example, but also different because of they re-chart. It's also possible (perhaps has happened) for two artists to record a song around the same age, but because of various issues - label issues, a song being a lead single versus a later single, whatever - those songs could be released at different times and then one artist is seen as charting older than the other artist. I find that odd in its own way. I've considered that before with the Oscars where there are of course records related to age. Sometimes movies can be in limbo for years as studios decide what to do with them. That of course then affects the age of the actors when they win awards.

Meanwhile, assuming "AIWFCIY" gets to #1 this year, it will become Mariah's seventh single to spend at least 4 weeks at #1: One Sweet Day - 16 weeks We Belong Together - 14 weeks Dreamlover - 8 weeks Fantasy - 8 weeks Vision of Love - 4 weeks Hero - 4 weeks AIWFCIY - 4 or more weeks?
I can't imagine too many (or any) other artists have achieved that feat.

There are a couple different recordings/versions of Dean Martin’s “Let It Snow”, Burl Ives’ “Holly Jolly Christmas” and Bing Crosby’s “ White Christmas” that I see on Amazon Music (the strongest purveyor of holiday streaming it seems). Question: which versions of these songs are the ones currently charting… or are all points being counted for their multiple versions?

jeng- seven of Elvis Presley's pre-Hot 100 No. 1s logged five or more weeks on top of their respective charts (counting "Don't Be Cruel"/"Hound Dog" as one single). The Beatles haven't had seven singles spend 4+ weeks at No. 1, so there very well may not be others.
sheard- I'd think those different versions by the same act would be combined. For instance, the version of "Holly Jolly Christmas" featured in the Rudolph special sounds different than the "hit" version.

Question: which versions of these songs are the ones currently charting… or are all points being counted for their multiple versions? Are they different recordings, or the same recording released in multiple contexts (different compilations, re-releases, etc.)? Either way, since it's the exact same song by the exact same artist, points get combined :)
