This is too much now, and I actually like the song (the 1st version) and I really wanted that #1. She really likes to force things

Rest assured, if pretty much any artist/label knew they were in arms reach of a #1 and all they needed to do to achieve it was to release a few remixes, most would. Artists have been doing this since as far as I can remember (the 90s).

She really likes to force things I attempted to listen to the first two remixes, didn't make it through - not bothering with the third (and hopefully final one lol). I'll be sticking with the album version and hoping it can have some longevity on the radio and streaming.

How she manages to make 13674 versions of the same song ALL sound equally incredible is beyond me. No wonder she's tired; she's carrying the music industry on her back.
My favorite is the dancing witch version; it's just SO incredibly reputation and I love it.

I hope these other pointless remixes don't distract from the ultimate version, the dancing witch version

Tbh she deserves to fight for a chance at #1 after so many of her hits stalled at #2.

Dancing Witch version needs to be serviced to pop radio immediately after the Christmas freeze because that's the only version that can do something on radio. The Moonlit Witch version doesn't sound as good as the other two, although I love the witch-y titles and aesthetics. I would love for her to drop some witch inspired merch for Willow.

I'm in love with every single version. Willow is such a good song, might be one of my favorite songs she's ever made.

The remixes are cute but the original is where all the true magic lies

Does anyone have Willows adds on pop radio? No adds have been reported this week - it seems that we have entered the freeze period. Adds will be back in January.

Excuse me for my ignorance but what exactly do adds mean and how do they help a song on radio? I've seen this world thrown around a lot and it has confused me. Also, Willow has been gaining radio play since Friday but why was did it 'impact' pop radio today? What is the difference between the two?

Also, Willow has been gaining radio play since Friday but why was did it 'impact' pop radio today? What is the difference between the two? A song (usually one from a major artist) can be serviced to radio stations, digitally prior to going for adds. In this case, Willow was digitally serviced to radio for airplay availability last Friday. Being serviced means that the song is formally available for airplay. Going for adds means that a label is formally submitting a song to radio stations to be added to said station's playlist. For major artists, it's fairly common for a song to get airplay or be added by stations without having an official adds dates. However, it's still fairly customary for a song to receive an official adds date, usually the following Monday (HAC/Country/AC) and Tuesday (Pop, Rhythmic, Urban, etc) after it's Friday premiere since Monday and Tuesday are the traditional days in which stations add new songs to their playlist. Someone else feel free to pitch in if I'm making zero sense...

Love Taylor, but I feel like all this with the remixes is a bit much. If it was just the one I might feel a little different, but to already have a song discounted in its first week, as well as three remixes discounted as well that are all released within the first week just makes it feel inorganic. Swifities don't come for me as I love Taylor and her music, but what Taylor needs is longevity and even if this goes #1 probably won't give her longevity.

Unless it's a single released later in the era that needs a formal push. Although, there have been exceptions to that custom as well. Cheers by Rihanna took off without an official adds date. I'm sure there have been several others since then.

It should also be noted that Nerd is talking about a song going for adds/receiving an adds date, which is a bit different from a song receiving adds. All stations report the new songs they add to their playlists every week. Those new songs are called adds. (So the two concepts go hand-in-hand.) So if this were to get, say, 24 adds this week, that means 24 stations reportedly added it to their playlists this week.
The adds date/going for adds/impact date/etc. is just the official week the campaign to receive adds begins and will generally be the week a song gets its highest number of adds.
The word "adds" no longer looks real to me.

The remixes would have been sent in to streaming services (ie Spotify) the same time as the other music, so she had already decided remixes. It’s not like she did remixes after the song wasn’t performing well. Also, I feel like this song pales in comparison to cardigan. It kinda needs the remix, imo. I, personally, saved a remix over the original, so I’m glad she did it.

Sorry for this question which may be a bit off topic but when a label is "formally submitting a song to radio stations", does it consist in sending a press release to radio stations ?

To be fair there is no way to ensure longevity now is there, so what else can Taylor do? She can perhaps not pull songs from radio (I am still salty about her pulling Cardigan from radio before the callouts came in), but it wouldn't be a Taylor Swift single rollout without big blunders. Willow is a lovely song, but it's too un-ubiquitous to do well at radio. It sounds more like a song a wandering minstrel would sing, not something that would top pop radio charts in 2021. Her track record at radio has also been relatively poor recently, since her previous 3 singles didn't even reach top ten at pop radio. In these circumstances striking while the iron is hot is a great move. There won't be much momentum after this week, so she needs to get as high as she can this week.
