There was no older thread on this song??? Stunning! Anyway, this was one of the Peppers best songs and maybe my all-time favorite from them. Was a staple on Q101 when I was younger and would often be a gold title on that station. Even B96 was playing this song, which shocked me as I didn't think that station would touch anything alternative rock as they were a Dance/Top 40 station back then.
fun fact: WKQX Q101 flipped from Hot AC/Adult Top 40 to alternative the same year this song became a hit though even if that station kept its previous format, it would most likely played the song.

29 years ago today, "Under the Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers reached its peak on the Hot 100 Singles chart at No.2. It was the 2nd release from their 5th album "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" which came out in the middle of the Alternative Rock explosion of the early '90s. "Bridge" also reached No.2 on the Album Rock Tracks chart and No.6 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. I love this record!

One of my favourites of theirs. The opening line "sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner, sometimes I feel like my only friend is the city I live in, the city of angels, lonely as I am, together we cry" is one of the most iconic opening lines in rock music post 1990s. It is definitely one of their biggest hits, and I would have said their career song, before the Californication album.
