I wonder if Tanya Tucker is the female with the most no.2 singles. It’s actually a 3 way tie between Tanya, Reba and Carrie Underwood for most #2’s with 9 a piece.

I wonder if Tanya Tucker is the female with the most no.2 singles. It’s actually a 3 way tie between Tanya, Reba and Carrie Underwood for most #2’s with 9 a piece. Here they are, all three females with their #2 hits. I will start with Tanya Tucker, who was the first with a #2 hit and end with Carrie Underwood. I do not know what would be Underwood's biggest #2 hit, since I do not have all of her chart data with me. Ready? Tanya Tucker: 1. I'll Come Back As Another Woman-1987 2. Love Me Like You Used To-1987 3. Highway Robbery-1989 4. My Arms Stay Open All Night-1990-chart-wise, her biggest #2 hit 5. Down To My Last Teardrop-1991 6. Without You What Do I Do With Me-1992 7. Two Sparrows In A Hurricane-1992 8. It's A Little Too Late-1993 9. Soon-1993 Reba McEntire: 1. Walk On-1990 2. Fallin' Out Of Love-1991 3. Till You Love Me-1995 4. And Still-1995 5. The Fear Of Being Alone-1996-chart wise, her biggest #2 hit 6. I'd Rather Ride Around With You-1997 7. Because Of You-with Kelly Clarkson-2007 8. Cowgirls Don't Cry-with Brooks & Dunn-2009 9. Be A Light-with Thomas Rhett, Hillary Scott, Chris Tomlin, and Keith Urban-2020 Carrie Undewrwood: 1. Don't Forget To Remember Me-2006 2. I Told You So-with Randy Travis-2009 3. Mama's Song-2011 4. Two Black Cadillacs-2013 5. See You Again-2013 6. Little Toy Guns-2015 7. Smoke Break-2015 8. Dirty Laundry-2017 9. The Fighter-with Keith Urban-2017 I hope this was helpful!

Dirty Laundry is Carrie’s biggest #2 hit by 3 weeks. It spent 2 weeks at #2 and 22 weeks overall on the chart whereas her cover of I Told You So also spent 2 weeks at #2 and 19 weeks overall on the chart.

King George with 9 runner-ups...in a different world could have definitely gotten to 50 Billboard airplay #1s Strait actually only has 8 solo #2’s. The 9th one is the song he was featured on with Kenny Chesney called “Shiftwork”. All of his #2 hits but 1998’s “True” are from the 2000’s and 2010’s. Mostly the latter. His biggest #2 is “Run” which spent 3 non consecutive weeks at #2 each time being blocked by 3 songs that spent 5 weeks at #1. He was blocked by Toby Keith’s “I Wanna Talk About Me”, Alan Jackson’s “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning) and the 3rd week by Steve Holy’s “Good Morning Beautiful”. “Run” is probably a top 10 favorite King George song of mine if not a top 5.

I'm not saying George Strait had a bad twenty-first century, but I was hoping he would have had 100 top ten hits and 50 #1 hits. He did break the record of having the most chart toppers in 2006 with Give It Away. Conway Twitty had the record between 1980-2006. As far as top tens are concerned, God only knows when Strait would have collected his 93rd. That would have pushed Eddy Arnold to second place. Having 86 top tens and 44 #1s is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

All kidding aside I was able to golf a round with him and his son (co-worker went to school with Bubba and he knew I was a huge fan), and George was AMAZING. Super nervous but a good golfer and made me feel at ease. I saw him at HEB (grocery store) about 2 years later and didn't remember me. Not surprising but he's actually just a guy who needed to buy some eggs, milk, and steaks on a random Saturday.

I've updated the 2023 list and started the 2024 list with our first runner up song of the year George Birge's "Mind On You".
