What an iconic top 3! If we count The Beatles, these 3 have more than 40 #1 albums combined.

Some say physicals from her official store isn't counted for this week. Are they holding them back for next week?

Some say physicals from her official store isn't counted for this week. Are they holding them back for next week? Physicals from her store will be shipping either next week or the week after that, so yeah. I'm pretty sure HDD is underestimating her physical sales at the moment due to lack of data.

Taylor is promoting Paul on her Twitter asking for people to buy/stream his album. Love to see this kind of support. =)

^Yeah. They decided to stagger their album releases so that they wouldn't be released on the same day.

I think Paul will settle in at #2...
Talk about a heck of a career, with or without the Beatles. His chart-topping span is roughly 48 years between McCartney and Egypt Station, which is certainly up there.

I don’t think Paul ever had a chance of #1 competing with Taylor’s second week. Even if they had swapped released dates, he would’ve been #3 last week behind Kudi and folklore.
Right now the predictions for Taylor are vague so we can’t say that are underestimating. I think we all figured 100k+ was a certainty. Keep in mind folklore moved 135k second week. The physicals on her website said last week they’d ship in 3-4 weeks, so they are not shipping this week. They may be trying to drag out the shipments to ensure more weeks at #1, or her store just might not be able to ship them all out in a timely fashion.

It's him and huge gap and then everyone else, in that regard.

Further, Streisand surpasses her own record for the longest span between No. 1s on the Billboard 200. Encore arrives 51 years, 10 months and 17 days after her first No. 1, People, spent its initial week at No. 1 (Oct. 31, 1964).
Streisand continues to be the only act to have achieved No. 1 albums in the last six decades -- the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s.

My bad. She has charted longer as a solo artist (which is crazy impressive and she's still frequent with her releases, damn), but when you consider the albums Paul has released, not just as a solo act but as part of the Beatles and part of Wings, it easily trumps the performance of anyone else alive and it's not particularly close. Both massive forces who have endured longer than almost every other musician can hope to.

First top 40 album in 1963, first top ten in 1965, debuted at #2 this year with a new studio album. Nearly two dozen top ten albums in that span, so pretty consistent in between.

I wonder if we'll get a Top 20? HITS may be on vacation.
I think last year they did not post charts for 2 weeks.
EDIT: They just skipped one week last year. The 12/27 chart.

Lil Durk released a surprise album that's currently #1 in Apple Music and #4 in iTunes. We'll see if it can manage to debut in the top 20 with a day's worth of sales and streaming.

CHART STORY: MERRY SWIFTMASWhile we don't have a full chart to allow our chart elves to recover from their holiday hangover, Santa was able to deliver the Top 3 from the HITS Top 50. Republic's Taylor Swift repeats at #1—earning her 10th week atop the chart—as evermore logs around 155-160k in its second week, a 52% drop. Paul McCartney bows at #2 with McCartney III (Capitol) earning 90-95k. Eminem's deluxe Music to be Murdered By - Side B (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) vaults back onto the chart at #3 with 85-90k, an increase of over 1000%. Now excuse us while we listen to Whole Lotta Red and smoke a whole lotta green. hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=324601&title=CHART-STORY%253A-MERRY-SWIFTMAS

2020 saw only five albums by women top the chart. That’s the fewest number of women in a calendar year since 2004, when only four women topped the chart.
Interestingly, 2004 was also a year dominated by Hip-Hop music.
