I will say "Next Boyfriend" music video will always have a special place in my heart (loved the pink neon, and the video was so visually appealing) and I also liked the "Getting Good" music video (love the dancing and choreography was nice to see).
But this music video was definitely great and besides "Next Boyfriend" is probably my favorite music video. I also loved the ending of Jon getting arrested and Lauren getting away with the money.

Love this song, but also totally forgot it existed lol. I listened to it once last summer and rediscovered it again last night. It's a really great song, and I've been listening to it a lot today. I think I like it better now than I did when I first heard it, but I know I enjoyed it at the time too and can't figure out why I didn't save it.
Anyway, hoping this can rally and do something because it's too good to not be on the radio, and I have definitely not heard it on there at all lol. The video is pretty great as well and is her best to date, even tho I did love the "Next Boyfriend" video too.

The music video is really strong and the perfect amount of both glamour and whimsical. It's definitely one of the very few good ones she's got under her belt since her videos are usually absolutely tragic. Her and Jon Pardi had great chemistry together and it showed, and the whole Bonnie + Clyde theme of the video was a fun take since it didn't really follow the lyric laid out in the song, but it wasn't such a huge random deviation either that it was nonsensical (like how they randomly made Maren's video for "Rich" a western a few years back, i.e.). Loved it. All signs continue to point towards "Getting Over Him" being a future smash!

Looks like things are still looking solid for "Getting Over Him" as Lauren Alaina got the Cumulus Block for adds and as such got 14 adds this week and also set a new peak on Mediabase at #45.

Not about this song, but this is an absolutely ridiculous performance from her of "What Do You Think Of". Maybe one of her best vocals I've ever seen. Still begging for them to get it together and send it to Hot AC.

^ Wow she absolutely ATE that. I also love that she did it as a solo performance because even though Lukas Graham's vocals don't bother me on it, I know they do for some other posts here, lol. It would be a good hit for HAC/AC radio, so I would love to see them find a way to push it to those formats in the near future. It would expand her audience a lot.

I have ALWAYS wanted Lauren to be the one to hit that big note at the end of the song instead of Lukas so this was such a pleasant surprise. "What Do You Think Of?" is easily the best thing on either of the two recent EPs so I echo the idea of sending it to HAC (since Lukas has had some decent success there) and I'd love to see it be a hit for country radio too.
Also glad to hear she's obtained the Cumulus block. Hoping this can crack the top 40 soon (and then not get stuck in the 30s for 8 months).

(Just saw this is already on the RIAA Country Certifications thread, but I'll keep it here since some people may not have seen it and it's big news + long overdue!)

I think this is pretty good. She always knows how to deliver a solid midtempo number.
Her cover art continues to flop though. This one looks like they caught her cracking her back at Hobby Lobby.

Seriously can she just not take a good picture for cover art purposes. Like besides maybe the "Getting Good" single cover none of her single covers have been that good and this one may be one of the worst ones yet.

The story of Lauren Alaina's totally mishandled career continues: unbelievable talent and typically excellent songwriting coupled with a team that has zero clue how to promote her. I really thought this was a Christmas song based on the cover art! And I'm a huge, huge fan.
The song is nice. On first listen I wasn't particularly interested in it but it's grown on me each time I listen. I love her harmonies with herself in the verses.

Her bad cover arts, promo shots, and music videos at this point are almost humorous because of how much they continually miss the mark. The new song is fire tho!

Oh wait, I thought y’all were acting like another retread of a Bonnie and Clyde story for a video treatment was peak art. 🥴

The bar is so low for Lauren Alaina on the visual aspects of her career that anything decent is better by comparison.

It really does look like a Christmas album cover and her pose is so uncomfortable.

This is a strange picture like someone grabbed it at the last minute. All that said I am not sure her career has been all that mishandled. A look at today chart and all the negative bullets on the women songs, I mean Miranda’s while there is nothing but grab ahead of her. I can’t answer why someone like Gabby catches on and Lauren doesn’t but I blame radio more then her team.

While I do think radio is mostly to blame for Lauren’s lack of hits I do think she could be more successful on another label. Her and Scotty were on the same label and when he signed with Triple Tigers they were able to do wonders for his radio career. I wonder if the same could be done for Lauren if she was placed on a smaller label that could focus specifically on her.

Small-labels are a trade off, they might be able to Focus to get You some spins but no leverage to get your nominated or on award shows.

I actually don't think the problem is that her label doesn't make her a priority, I see it more as poor decision-making in general. Like, they didn't have to give her a big budget for this new cover picture, they just needed... better taste? So I wonder if it's more a management problem. But some things are probably the label's fault like asking her to not be on Thinkin' Bout You as a single - but still, that's not a budget or a lack of priority thing, just poor decision-making.
I think switching for a smaller label would be very risky. She has been around for 10 years now, constantly releasing singles, and at least UMG has stook up for her when they could've easily dropped her years ago. But yeah, she has potential for so much more if her career was properly handled.

Yeah, switching to smaller labels sometimes helps, but it's usually a better move for (unsurprisingly) male artists. I really doubt an indie label would have the same pull or resources to get Lauren Alaina to the next level if UMG fails to do so. She's in a comfortable middling position right now where she's been able to have a solid career without a lot of highs, but also not a lot of lows (despite quite a few flops -- she's maintained a much more constant presence in the genre with numerous collabs, frequently selling or streaming better than her radio play would suggest, etc.). She's not taking off the way Maren, Kelsea, and Carly have been, but she also hasn't just immediately faded into obscurity like the majority of other women do when they fail to get a constant stream of radio hits. I personally think going to a small label would only make things harder for her, and I honestly think it would likely be the end of her career.

"If The World Was A Small Town" has become one of my favorite releases from her yet. It sounds distinctly her. The production is well done and it's an earworm. Also this has to be about her ex fiance right?

She said it's about 'her first hometown love' (which I'm not sure if it applies to Alex), but then she says they "outgrew each other" which is exactly what she used to say about their split so yeah I guess it's about him!

Worth noting that the Women in Country special has her next full album coming out in Q3, so quite soon!

Nice to see this has entered the top 40 on Mediabase. It needs to start seeing some conversions soon, but barring a research setback I think a top 20 peak should be in the cards.

For the first time in a while, I finally feel like Lauren will actually get a solid hit out of a single (meaning Top 20 or higher lol). Not even the biggest fan of this song but as long as she gets another radio hit, I’m fine haha. I have lost hope though that she’ll ever cross that threshold and become an A lister. I think she’ll always have slow rising, hit or miss singles.
