It's that time once again to count down my favorite songs of 2020. You know the rules. There are no rules. This is an all genre chart where I feature Rock, Pop ,Indie, Metal, 80's icon come backs, as well as some unique genres like Italo Disco, J-Metal, Hi-NRG Eurobeat, K-Pop, and maybe even some never before heard 80's tunes that I discovered in PULSE rd's. So sit back and relax I'll post regularly through and after the new year. Also I'll reveal Stats, chart runs, videos, and fan made sleeve art. for all songs. We'll start off with some extras that just missed the list.

This year I'm trying something a bit different. I kept certain songs on the top 60 for mad weeks, and I wanted to do a chart based on points. Mine is easy. you get 1 point for #60 and 60 points for #1. If a song spent two weeks at #60 you got 2 points, if a songs spent 3 weeks at #1 it gets 3x60 whatever that is? Don't worry I'm using a calculator. This should be fun. WKs is weeks spent on chart, and number in () is the song's peak to date, and points in (red)

Swedish Sleaze Metal band who has gone through three lead singers since I began Charting them. Dave Lepard R.I.P. , H. Olliver Twisted who went on to Reckless Love fame , Simon Cruz, who was around for two albums including the huge Swedish Rock festival tour, and the newest singer Gabriel Keyes. They are also now on Frontiers Records. "Rust" has a cool "Dr. Feelgood" groove to it.

Also on Frontiers Records is the Powerpop rock band Enuff Z'Nuff. I first charted them in 1989 with "New Thing". Their biggest chart hit was "Fly High Michelle". They are also known for the "The Stroke" cover with all the babes on guitars in the MV. Chip Z'nuff  the now lead singer has also adopted Robin Zander' look and Cheap Trick's sound. Which is evident in this year's "Fatal Distraction"

I've been charting this Glam Metal parody band for quite sometime. The parody is their gimmick, but they are in fact great musicians. It's from the reality TV show UHSN that invited 10 girls from all over the world to learn Korean popular music, culture, cuisine and history for 3 weeks. The countries featured are Russia, Sweden, Thailand, Egypt, Norway, USA, Ukraine. Poland, Estonia , and Japan. This is the song they came up with together. Biggest surprise to me is how low this song is making its first showing on my YE list. This is what usually happens when a song shoots up to #1 in less than ten weeks. eevn if I keep it alive for 10 more weeks it will most likely perform worse next year. In retrospect while being a fierce addition to their discography it can't stand up to their 70's and 80's classics, so I guess it all fell into place in the end. Still a great rock jam. worthy of raising your devil horns to.

90's Pearl Jam never quite got my blood pumping, but I did start digging hard into this band when they released "The Fixer". Since that song It's been hit after hit for them on my chart. This is easily one of my favorite songs of theirs'. It's really bass oriented which adds a funky groove to the song. Eddie's vocals are a bit aggressive, but fit well with the groove.

The Eurobeat continues even after the end of the Super Eurobeat Series. The big Eurobeat producers keep promoting their music via Youtube and music downloading venues. Dave Rodgers one of the most famous names in the genre released a handful of great songs this year. An Initial D' song of course, but he also caught the fans by surprise by releasing a Covid, or rather an end of Covid the Virus theme song. A really cool concept if you are an avid fan of the genre. I've been charting this Glam Metal band since 2009. While many AOR bands are sounding like Def Leppard these days. New Music Adds


The best part about the new year is that it's time to search for new music for 2021, so it's New Music time. Last night I discovered  this Alternative Metal band RedHook. They reminded me of Sumo Cyco. Especially with the horror themes in their songs. I Previewed a couple songs from their 2020 album "Dead Walk", and found the songs and music videos pretty enticing. The title track has a cool Zombie vibe to it. It reminded me a lot of Sumo Cyco's "Limp"

This song right here besides being an epic Metal extravaganza also has some really thought provoking lyrics about Social media and how it affects our every day right to actually communicate. As well as what is society's idea of beauty is ,and how it all eventually leads to our downfall. The music video paints a dark story ,and is a sight to behold. Ironically  corona virus came along and actually strengthens all the negative points the song is trying to make . Now it's our only way to really communicate.

Once in a while a cover song will surpass the original's chart peak. This year Billie Joe Armstrong does just that with his cover of Tiffany's song which was in fact a cover of the original Tommy James and the Shondells hit. Tiffany's version also reached #8 on my charts, but Billie's version ends up higher on this YE list. In retrospect I like this version the best. Mainly for Billie's vocal delivery. On a side note: This could have just been a Green Day song right?

Up next is a very special song from one of my favorite true Mexican Rock bands. This song had a peculiar chart run. I started charting it as a demo. It peaked at #24 and fell off, then I returned it at it's studio version once the album was released. Add a sweet ghoulish music video which the band are known for ,and this one shot up my chart. All this action happened in 2020 making this song one of my favorite Las Victimas Del Cerebro songs ever.

We last checked in with Frontiers Records with Tokyo Motor Fist, so lets revisit the label with one of 2020's new rising artists to the Glam Metal or as it's known now a days AOR music genre. Great vocals, great hooks you know what I crave. This is the first single from this British band's debut album. Checking back with Sweden's Italo Disco love. Both of their songs this year had telephone themes which was also a strong theme for 80's Hi-Energy songs. The band also releases all their songs on 12's extended. My Favorite version of the song was the Mirko Hirsch extended remix whish follows the synth line of Mike Mareen's "Love Spy"

Surprisingly enough according to this list "Bad Decisions" is my new favorite Strokes song. I didn't expect this song to have racked up this many points, but in retrospect it was one of the best comeback singles of the year and they stayed true to their garage  Alt rock sound. We are up to my favorite Eurobeat song of 2020. This time from newcomer Andrea Defino and written by HRG Attack's Roberto Gabrielli this song turns up the female aggressive vibe notch to 10. Roberto also adds some great vocal effix in the intro and mid break perfect for mixing many other 90's Eurobeat classics with.

One of my favorite underrated Glam Metal bands of the late 80's have been constantly on my charts with songs off their 2017 album 'Public Enemies'. This is also the third year in a row they score one of my top 10 songs of the year. last year it was the Powerballad "We can't Bring back Yesterday" at this same exact slot. This year they return with one of my favorite tracks from the record "High School Queen", and also my favorite fan made music video of the year. It's amazing while most of the big 80's vocal screamers have suffered some vocal deterioration Steve Summers has conserved his vocals to a point where they sound exactly the same as in 1989. This jam's melody takes us back to Poison classics like "Talk Dirty To Me" and "Nothing but A Good Time". This is Grade A Party Metal.

This incredible rock anthem has spent 18 weeks of its 23 week chart run in my top 10. I've been praising this band for their perfect Def Leppard Glam Metal vibe of the 80's all year long. The return of Ted Poley to the scene was also one of  the genre's highlights. This was the first single off 'Lions'". It's a strong youthful geared Rock anthem that brings up my spirits every time I hear it. Uplifting lyrics coupled with massive guitar licks compliments of Trixter's Steve Brown. Strong promotion from Frontiers Records also made this album a hit among genre lovers. From my favorite Glam Metal song of the year we go to my favorite K-Pop song of the year. This is Weki Meki's first time on my charts. This little  K-Pop bop charmed the hell out of me with all the variety of vocal tones the girls showcased. It's an uplifting fun filled picture perfect pop song with a chorus so catchy you never want it to end.

This song is probably the biggest surprise on my 2010 music charts. It's actually a song from 1988 that I heard for the first time on the PULSE modern Rock RD. It was featured as an extra and it clicked with my Poptart radar on first preview. How this wasn't a hit on the HOT 100 is mind blowing. The lyrics are silly, with a chorus like "Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque" but a hoot to sing along to. Thirty plus years later here it is probably making it's best appearance on any chart ever? Just goes to show you anything can happen on my music charts.

Up next is a very special song that has become my favorite Bananrama song ever. It spent 34 weeks on my top 60 and got a revamp with it's remix version. The original version has a great sounding poprock vibe ,and got the song into my top 10, but it was this remix that galloped its way to my heart ,and rode the song to #1 for two weeks. The style is 90's High Energy. Particularly the Italo NRG sounds of Time Records. The percussion and duo vocals is pure classic Gypsy and Queen.

Into the top 3 and the female rock power is still going strong for DIAMANTE. This time she incorporated Diane Warren's song writing talents for this powerful Rock ballad, and it was an instant hit among the fans. This next one is one I'm sure many of you are familiar with. It was also my entry in Red 's rock tournaments, and I believe the one song you all loved. If my memory serves me it all the way to #13. Of course it also has to be an NRGetic bop to end up this high on my list ,and Bleached delivered everything I look for in a song. It had a strong Go Go's /Bangles vibe ,and features one of my favorite bass mid breaks of the year.

Second year in a row that DIAMANTE holds my crown song of the year. Last year she did it with "Haunted" and this year she returns with another fire fueled hard rock mega hit. The best thing that could have happened to DIAMNTE was being dropped from Eleven Seven. This gave her complete creative freedom to use any song write and producer she chooses. This year she promoted the hell out of herself online and we fans responded. There was a new song every month throughout the covid crisis, mini online concerts for the fans. the big Blue Balls extravaganza and the actual album hasn't even been released. This song didn't even have a video when it was my crown song for five weeks. It returned to #1 for two more weeks once this music video was released. 20021 also looks like its going to be a strong year for her. With that album coming up, and another new song right outside my top 60 we could be seeing her back at this same slot next year. She is quite easily the meaning behind the phrase "Strong female power in rock". On a final note: with 1826 chart points this is kind of a landslide.
