In what should come as no surprise, the albums fifth and final single "I Still Like Bologna" bows out first. This was also the first single to exit from Alan's singles rankdown, so it seems only fitting that it should leave first here as well. This comes in as our fourth least polarizing song as all but two of the participants placed this in their bottom 5. Of those, three participants including castleoblivion26, .indulgecountry, and myself all lose our last place song right out of the gate. Speaking of, kw9461 also becomes our first participant to lose a top 5 just as we're getting started. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around why this was chosen as a single, especially given that any other song on the album would've been a better choice. I can only think that Arista wasn't necessarily going to put much effort into promoting a fifth single from this project and so Alan opted to go with something off-the-wall. Needless to say, that gamble didn't pay off as the song became his first single to miss Top 20 since "The Blues Man" in 2000.

The final track on the album, “If Jesus Walked the World Today”, exits next and along with it takes two more top 5 rankings from George Strait Junkie and .indulgecountry. Whereas our previous song was the fourth least polarizing, this comes in as our fourth most polarizing with nine participants placing this in their bottom 5. Those include a trio of rankings in last place from 🌺CountryLineDancer, someguy, and kw9461 who just previously lost a top 5. While this did slip back into last place a couple of times, it mostly maintained a soft distance from there and rode out in the bottom 2 over the course of its run. I have to admit that the more I listened to this song the more it grew on me. Initially I found it to be a little too quirky I suppose, but it was one that kept getting stuck in my head and in turn I found myself revisiting more than I thought I would. I'm certainly not surprised to see it leave in the bottom 2, though.

8. Any other thoughts or predictions? ClevelandRox is first to lose their #1 As correctly predicted by the man himself, ClevelandRox is the first to lose their #1 ranking as "Country Boy" exits next. And just like that y'all we have already lost not one but two of the albums singles...all within the the bottom 3! This also didn't fare to well in Alan's singles rankdown either as it left within the bottom 5 there as well. Released in September 2009 as the third single, "Country Boy" became his twenty-fifth Number One hit on the Billboard country singles charts. Despite that, Pulse has never been much of a fan of this song which likely due in part to some of its cringeworthy lyrics. Coming in as our most polarizing song, eight participants lose a bottom 5 including a last place from Kanenrá:ke. Aside from ClevelandRox, it did pick up a little bit of support from gardyfan who put this in his top 3 as well as a top 10 from myself. I don't actively ever seek out this song out if only because of overplay. That said, I kind of think that its hated more here on Pulse than it should be. Again, I think that has more to do with the lyrics than anything because even I find it to be somewhat of a catchy tune and never hit skip should it come on the radio.

Our third most polarizing song, "When the Love Factor’s High", leaves next and along with it takes a second top 5 from George Strait Junkie as well one from castleoblivion26. This actually started out as our initial contender for last place as our first participant Cody Wants Out... placed this down at the bottom of his list. Its second lowest ranking would follow on the heels of that with a bottom 2 from Kanenrá:ke. It just was never able to garner enough support after that to move the needle much and therefore it just could never find its way outside of the bottom 5. I myself lose a top 7 while gardyfan loses a top 10. I personally am kind of disappointed by the performance of this as I happen to think it's one of the strongest tracks on the album. I also think a song like this is right up George Strait's alley and every time I listen to it I often catch myself hearing his voice on it.

"Nothing Left to Do" is our final song to exit the bottom 5 which comes in as our sixth least polarizing song. I have to admit that this picked up a lot more support than I though it would if only because the song is about the lack of spontaneity in the bedroom lol. While this did pick up a bit of support from within the top 10, the majority of the group placed this somewhere just shy of that or just outside of their bottom 5. Included in the bottom 5 is a last place from ClevelandRox as well as a bottom 2 from myself. At the other end we have another top 5 loss for gardyfan (his second and third top 10 loss) as well as a trio of top 10s from George Strait Junkie, .indulgecountry, and someguy. This got much further than I was hoping it might because had it not been for "I Still Like Bologna", this would've been my last place. Whereas some of you certainly find the lyrics to "Country Boy" to be cringeworthy, I winced each time I revisited this song because I'm sure Alan wrote it from the perspective of his own marriage and well...this is just a song that could've been left off.

“Right Where I Want You” is our first song to exit outside of the bottom 5 and comes in as our sixth most polarizing song. It in fact started out inside the bottom 5 as it accumulated would be its first of five rankings there. Those include a pair of bottom 2s as well as a last place from George Strait Junkie. Nonetheless, it was able to hover just outside of the top 10 for most of its run thanks it picking up a lone top 5 from Kanenrá:ke as well as four additional top 10 rankings.

“Listen to Your Senses” exits just three points shy of the top 10 and clocks in as our second most polarizing song. This initially found itself bouncing in and around the bottom 5 as three of its earliest rankings were placed there including a last place from gardyfan. It was able to gain some ground in the middle of its run as it picked up its first top 5 from someguy followed up by a top 10 ranking from castleoblivion26. On the heels of that came a top 3 from 🌺CountryLineDancer as well as another top 10 and top 5 from both bboat11 and kw9461. While it briefly flirted with the top 10 at that moment, it settled a bit as two of the last three rankings came from just outside of the top 10.

I'll be the lone commenter!!!! So far this is basically going exactly as expected. "I Still Like Bologna" makes sense in last place, especially since it got the rare distinct honor of being last place in the entire singles rankdown. Although I will say, melodically I do not mind this. That's why it was able to escape my own last place. If it ever came on and I didn't listen to the lyrics at all, I'd think it was a perfectly fine average country jam.
Same thing with "Country Boy", tbh... I honestly cannot decide how I feel about this one. Melodically, I think it is solid. But of course lyrically, it is a dumpster fire... I think I have kinda let the negativity Pulse has towards this song turn me off from it more than I otherwise would have on my own accord... But then again I remember hating the lyrics even when it was current, and that was YEARS before I joined Pulse, 'cause I was only a freshman in high school when this era was happening, lol.
Most of these album tracks were pretty forgettable to me. "If Jesus Walked The World Today" is one of the more memorable ones, but it is definitely quirky enough to where I didn't have high expectations for it. I didn't outright dislike any of these album tracks though, so like even my bottom 3 ranks for "When The Love Factor's High" and "Right Where I Want You" don't mean a whole lot other than they kind of blended together and didn't do anything to stand out, but I would still never skip them if they like randomly came on a shuffle.
I think "Laid Back 'N Low Key" has got to be reaching its ceiling, and possibly "I Wish I Could Back Up" and "This Time" as well.

I'm surprised to see "Laid Back 'N Low Key" in the top 10 as I found that to easily be one of the weaker offerings this album had.
Both "I Still Like Bologna" and "Country Boy" are among my least favorite songs from Alan and I'm glad they are out already. Hope "Good Time" is out soon cause I also don't like that one.
The album tracks are so much stronger than the singles would have you believe. I was shocked at how much I really enjoyed most of this album since I hated 3 of the 4 singles. Sad to see "When The Love Factor's High" out so early, and to see "Listen To Your Senses" miss the top 10. Both of those I really enjoyed.
Look forward to seeing the rest of the results

8. Any other thoughts or predictions? This is going to be very interesting, because unlike most of his albums with big hits, I would say this one doesn't really have any essential big hits, so there's not an obvious winner! "Bologna" and "Country Boy" are hated, everyone always forgets "Sissy" exists, "Good Time" is polarizing af, and "Small Town Southern Man" is overplayed af. But meanwhile none of the album tracks really stand out in a way that says "this one has a guaranteed shot at beating the singles!" So again, this will be very interesting I'm surprised to see "Laid Back 'N Low Key" in the top 10 as I found that to easily be one of the weaker offerings this album had. “This Time” is the first song to exit in the top 10 and comes in as our eighth most polarizing song. This initially started off in the top 5 thanks to Cody Wants Out... kicking things off which was followed up with a top 10 from Kanenrá:ke. It settled to the back of the top 10 from there where it would remain for the rest of its run. Rankings for this were quite varied as we have three bottom 5s all the way down to a top 2 from George Strait Junkie. For the most part though the rankings seem to come from either just inside or outside of the top 10. I do really enjoy this song and I'd even have to say it was one of the harder tracks for me to rank. It jumped in and out of my top 10 with each edit I made which I think is due in part to this being more of a mood-specific song for myself.

“I Wish I Could Back Up” leaves us next and comes in as our fifth least polarizing song (despite bboat11's prediction that this would be one of the most polarizing!). That prediction was likely predicated on him not only putting this in last place, but also me giving him some shade for that when he sent in his list. As you can see from the rankings, he is the only one not to put this in their top 12 with the majority of the group actually putting this somewhere within their top 10. I was the only participant to put this in their top 5 and in fact lose my top 2 song. This ended up being a solid top 5 contender in its early to mid run with bboat11's last place being the catalyst to send this to the back of the top 10.

“Laid Back ’n Low Key (Cay)” was another song that was predicated by bboat11 to be one of the more polarizing ones, but it in fact comes in as our third least polarizing! This song likely ended up exceeding the expectations of a few here including myself. This was also a consistent top 10 contender for much of its run and only dipped back outside of that when a second bottom 5 came along from kw9461 (with Kanenrá:ke being the first). This picked up a pair of top 5s from someguy and 🌺CountryLineDancer as well as a handful of top 10 rankings. Other than the two bottom 5s, the rest of the group put this just outside of their top 10 as well. This is one of those songs that I think grows on you the more you listen to it (at least it did for me). While I initially had this ranked a few spots lower, I kept finding myself humming along to the melody in my head during the day and would have to put it back on again just for the heck of it lol.
