Looks like the reruns of Bob Kingsley shows will come back again on WSM-AM starting on January 2, 2021 (this coming Saturday) from 10am-2pm CT.

This week’s show is a CT40 from January 2006. One of the first shows of the series.

January 14 I might add that was featured last week, this week they're featuring January 28, 2006. Looks like they are going in order from the looks of it, and at that time they were using the Radio & Records chart (which was supplied to Mediabase 24/7 as reported to R&R before VNU acquired R&R).

Look like they are going every other week in 2006 as this weeks show was the February 11, 2006 show.

I can’t remember who they picked to host his show after he passed but I was just thinking when I seen this of someone that I’d like to host his show. I’d love to see Storme Warren host it but I’d also love for it to be the American Country Countdown show that’s now hosted by Kix Brooks again as well with Storme hosting it. Also I’d love for it to be the top 40 again as I think Kix just does the top 30 of Billboard. Bobby Bones would be another good one to host it too. I have nothing against Kix at all but I think Storme or Bobby would be better.

We shall see, but in the meantime looks like there goes the theory of playing a show every other week as they're playing the show from the week of February 18, 2006. They started this a few minutes early this time around.

This week they're showing the program from 2/25/06, and one thing I will say about the early CT40 days is that the format was very similar to ACC, playing back last week's #1 song and having two listener requests, mentioning several station affiliates that the show could be listened to, plus the milestone flashback and extras. Only thing that was changed was the chart going from Billboard to R&R/Mediabase 24/7, with the latter to avoid paying a fee for using the chart.
It does appear that when they play extras for years past, they're using Billboard data from the looks of it.

Looks like on the show this week from 3/4/2006 they played a montage of last week's Top 5 but I'm not sure if that was made permanent yet at this point.

They did the montage at the beginning of last week’s show as well, so it’s probably a permanent thing at that point. I’m guessing that some of the early 2006 shows that didn’t air on Kingley’s Classics must be missing since WSM has been staying in order the past few weeks

And I also think doing that was to speed things along to allow more time to play songs unedited, along with extras, etc. throughout the show. I don't know when he started introducing CT40 Flashback, but I think that will come at some point before long.
In the meantime Bob mentioned that he's counting down the hits of March 11, 2006 this week (with the R&R issue 3/3).

They skipped the March 18, 2006 show this week and are playing the chart week of March 25, 2006. While the new jingles at the time were locked in firmly, there was the occasional time where an ACC number jingle (from 1995) would come up from time to time in those days. Sometimes these skips aren't due to a guest host (which happened rarely on CT40), but issues beyond their control.

Even though we're still in late February, Bob is counting down the chart of April 1, 2006 (no April Fools Joke), though the chart was issued on 3/24.

This week they are featuring April 8, 2006 chart wise. One of the things I've noticed is that a song could be in the Top 5 a week prior, only to have it fall off the chart completely this week. I guess Radio & Records/Mediabase 24/7 had that rule where songs would go recurrent if it was below #1 and without a bullet for 3 weeks straight compared to Billboard (which is still the case today).
I should also note that as of the latest Country Aircheck Weekly issue (745) the Kingsley archives are now donated to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, so congratulations (it took a lot of hard work to get it done).

April 15, 2006 is featured this week (with the chart issued on 4/7). I wonder if in the contract WSM-AM has if they'll rerun the year-end shows or specials if any later on in this year...

Apparently last week there were system cue errors which resulted from time to time going back to the previous week's show of April 8, 2006. Hopefully there won't be system errors on the chart of April 22, 2006 this week, but I'm glad they're keeping the sponsors intact (I think once the show started to get a footing the sponsors returned for CT40).

Looks like there are problems with the WSM-AM online live stream today, I've tested some browsers (even TuneIn) and when I try to click the play button it doesn't play the live stream at all (as it goes back to the play button within a split second). Same goes true even when connecting to a VPN, so unless they fix the issue online, we're probably not going to know what CT40 show is featured this week unless if tuned in to the radio, but they have done all 2006 shows so far.
On the other hand KFYZ plays old 80s ACC shows (though they could throw in the odd 70s or 90s show) on Wednesdays at 6pm CT, however those shows aren't digitally remastered yet and still on vinyl.

WSM-AM fixed the stream this week and I just heard Bob say he's counting down the chart for the week of May 13, 2006, so they probably either skipped April 29 or May 6's show last week.

By the way here's the link to tune in to KFYZ when they feature ACC each Wednesday at 6 pm CT (they featured 4/10/1982 this past Wednesday where the 1978 themes/jingles haven't changed yet, let alone the original theme music that was still used to close the hour):
Meanwhile on WSM-AM they're playing the chart from May 20, 2006.

Well this is interesting, what WSM-AM is allowing to do unlike the ACC Rewind show or Premiere in terms of AT40 shows (with rare exceptions) is to allow guest hosted shows be re-aired. This week happens to be one of them where they are featuring June 10, 2006 this week. Bob though still did the Billboard sponsors (at the opening and closing).

After last week that had a guest host, Kingsley's back on the mic today as they're featuring the chart from June 17, 2006 (R&R issue 6/9, and on Father's Day weekend where this chart airs on Mother's Day weekend). This is also one of those occasions where the #1 song happened on Radio & Records/Mediabase 24/7, but not on Billboard. Certain labels in Nashville are okay however with getting a #1 hit there.

6/24/2006 (R&R issue 6/16/2006) this week (and WSM featured the promo of this show just before actual showtime). Cue sheets by the way are now up of most CT40 shows.

Bob just announced he's counting down the hits for the week of 7/1/2006 (with the R&R issue of 6/23/2006).

Seems like WSM-AM has a limited number of CT40 shows in the can that they can run for now, as for the time being they're not putting fresh new shows past 7/1/2006. However it's possible that they may be jumping ahead too much when it comes to airdate vs. chart date wise (which they have) or it could be an error showing 2/25/2006 again this week.
However KFYZ did a Memorial Day special this past Wednesday showing the 30 biggest hits of the 90s so far that aired on Memorial Day weekend of 1993 (and it was in CD quality as opposed to vinyl quality they usually show).
ETA: Looks like they fixed the issue in Hour 2, they're now showing 7/8/2006 after all. Seems like WSM-AM is still having issues when it comes to showing CT40 content in full by loading the wrong show/segment.

Yeah they started it quite early, and this was near the end of the Radio & Records era in which Mediabase 24/7 supplied the data, as VNU would acquire them (the issue of 7/14/06 here would mention that it had agreed to acquire R&R). Because of that to avoid the costly fee, CT40 and other countdown shows that used Radio & Records stopped using them and went to Mediabase 24/7 (with new issues coming from Country Aircheck on a weekly basis).

7/29/06 is this week's WSM-AM's showing, this time they started it a little after 10 am compared to last week.

8/5/2006 this week, and this is also the week where it's the closest race as far as I know between #2 and #1 songs on Radio & Records/Mediabase 24/7 (whereas the #1 song came up short on Billboard and it's without a bullet which is very unusual). Come next week it would be the last time Radio & Records uses data provided by Mediabase 24/7.

This week, CT40 is back on WSM-AM after a week absence because of a contractual event obligation (Trash and Treasures) last week. They're playing the chart from 8/19/2006, where because VNU acquired Radio & Records and switched data from Mediabase 24/7 to Billboard/Nielsen BDS, the show had to avoid a costly fee of using Radio & Records from now on. Because of this they continued to use Mediabase 24/7 and still does to this day.
