Over the past decade (if not longer), throwbacks to 70s Disco and 80s New Wave/Synth-Pop have been immensely successful, with songs like Get Lucky, Uptown Funk, Shut Up And Dance, I Feel It Coming, Say So and (especially) Blinding Lights becoming massive hits. So, in the next few decades, which genres from the past few decades will become fodder for throwback hits, like what Disco and New Wave are today?

Something tells me a nostalgic reevaluation and full on revival of trap music is coming yall
I can also see the early 2010s EDM being pastiched to death once zoomers come of age

I'm surprised there haven't been many attempts to recapture the Max Martin late 90s/early 00s teen pop sound. Some acts like Rina Sawayama have played around with the genre, but nothing has been able to cross the mainstream just yet. And yes, Harx, I can definitely see early 2010s EDM becoming a throwback staple someday, for better and for worse 😄 If a nostalgic reevaluation and renewed appraisal arrives, I can also see New Jack Swing, Nu-metal, and the 'emo' punk rock subgenres getting more love from the younger generations.

I really, really hope power ballads become a prominent sound again in the coming years. That, and early 2000's punk/alternative rock.

Well, when it comes to Late 90s/Early 2000s Teen Pop throwbacks, we did get this a few years ago: And as for New Jack Swing pastiches, who could forget our man Bruno (Bruno, we need your next album full of 90s throwbacks)

I really hope late 90s teen pop come back someday Id say it briefly came back to mainstream popularity around 2012 (One Direction heyday, Carly Rae Jepsen, Cher Lloyd, Believe era Bieber etc) so its not only possible but almost certain this sound will be back again in one form or another
