48 years ago today...Carly Simon scored the second of three weeks on top of the Hot 100 with "You're So Vain," the first single from her album "Secrets." "Vain" was also a No.1 hit in Canada and No.3 in the U.K. - For years many things have been said about whom Carly wrote the record about, she has said it was written about three men and Warren Beatty is one of them. You're So Vain" is a brilliant song and I certainly love how she whispers "Son of a Gun" at the beginning of it. Janet Jackson sampled it and featured Carly's voice on her song "Son of a Gun (I Bet You Think This Song is About You.)"

One of the best 1970s songs although my first memory of it was its sample in the Janet Jackson song mentioned above.  A staple on Classic Hits/Adult Hits/AC stations back then.

I love Carly so much! My mom is a huge fan and I grew up listening to her...
