#20 Shawn Austin - What Do I Know
Kicking off the reveal with our first #1 loss! Following Kiss Kiss in the 2020 RD, James became the first one to lose #1 on this RD. Shawn Austin is a relatively new artist and has a few successful radio singles in the last few years. However, after this song, his radio career has been quiet. He belongs to the same label as Kristin Carter, Steel Head, who has been quiet this year so far. CLD's ThoughtShawn Austin has a beautiful voice, and is one of my local acts, from Vancouver. This song has a very "Andrew Hyatt" kinda vibe. Prior to Covid, I recall I went to a show where he played a couple of songs, and I happened to meet his mother-in-law at a bar during the show, who introduced me to Shawn. He was a very cool guy and hoping his label Steel Head will let him and Kristin release more songs. I also regret not including Little Things in the 2020 RD.

Interesting comparison because Shawn and Andrew are probably my two favorites. Thought this one would have fared better!

#19 Wes Mack - Never Have I Ever ft. Sons of Daughters
Sons of Daughters YE RD History #18 (2020) I Picture You We are losing our only song with "featuring". I'm losing my first top 10 here, and tim lost his third top 10! Wes Mack is also known as an actor and currently lives in Vancouver. He had several radio hits, but none since 2018. On the other hand, Sons of Daughters is a duo from Vancouver, currently in Nashville, and has two radio singles. While this song was released as a radio single, did not go high enough to be on the chart. CLD's ThoughtThis was added on the list, as this was one of my fav duet songs in 2019. Sad to see it's doing poorly, but being tim 's #6 and zaclord 🌈 's #10, at least looks like some of y'all enjoyed this for a bit. I love this type of mid-tempo song with strong chrus melody. The harmony between Wes and Chrystal Leigh from Sons of Daughters stood out well in the song.

#18 Jade Eagleson - Count The Ways
Jade Eagleson YE RD History #8 (2020) Close A huge step down from the 2020 RD is Jade Eagleson. zaclord 🌈 lost his first top 5 song. Compared with Close, bboat11 's ranking improved, while tim and .indulgecountry 's rankings dropped by a lot. CLD's ThoughtThis is my fav song by Jade Eagleson. Granted kinda generic theme, but it's uptempo and catchy, and his low-tone vocal stands out well. Jade has been my fav new face recently, and I loved his debut, but his current #1 single "All Night To Figure Out" was such a let down. Hopefully he'll come up with something as great as this, as he's now moving on to the second album.

#17 Brett Kissel - Drink About Me
Brett Kissel YE RD History #13 (2020) A Few Good Stories The last song to miss the top half is Brett Kissel. There was a tie between #16 and #17, so the song with a higher Std is leaving first, per usual. Looks like he belongs to the middle spot on these YE RDs. Sadly James lost another top 3 here, and ccarter1023 lost his first top 5 song. This is Brett Kissel's second career #1 song. CLD's ThoughtI really like this song, and wish I could've ranked it higher. I think this song has a sexy mood, with the slow-tempo and lyrics. Very strong chorus melody and the whole song flows very well. Can't believe I haven't seen him live yet...

"Watered Down The Whiskey' is a JAM! Can't believe its out so soon, the melody is incredible and the song is country goodness.
I was actually surprised that I liked "What Do I Know" as much as I did, because it's not typically my style per se, but that chorus melody is undeniable!

I’ve only heard 5-6 songs from Jade Eagleson at this point, but everything I’ve heard has been great. With that said, his song here is by far the weakest I’ve heard from him yet. I keep meaning to check out more from him, but forget. “Close”, “Whiskey Tonight”, “All Night…”, and “Got Your Name On It” are all jams though.

#16 Madeline Merlo - Unraveling
Madeline Merlo YE RD History #17 (2020) Kiss Kiss The first top half song to leave is by Madeline Merlo. It has a bad start, but managed to sneak into the top half of the RD. .indulgecountry lost one of his top 5, and tim , whose ranking has significantly improved with that of "Kiss Kiss" from 2020, lost another top 10 song. CLD's ThoughtI love Madeline Merlo, and this is a solid song, but I'm not impressed with the fact that I'm the lowest ranker of her. This cannot happen again, but yeah, this was a hard list for me to rank. This is not Madeline's best tune, and I strongly prefer "Kiss Kiss", which I am sure James and ClevelandRox agree, based on their rankings!!

#15 The Abrams - Good Old Days
Next up is The Abrams. Formerly known as The Abrams Brothers, the group consists of brothers from Ontario. They used to make more bluegrass, aka High Valley style music, but their recent music has less of that sound, compared to what they used to be. Looks like this got very okay response from many posters, including random four 17 rankings. bboat11 lost his first top 5, and this is my second top 5 loss. CLD's ThoughtI love this song, and definitely one of the best by The Abrams. The fiddle sound is super satisfying, from the intro throughout the song, and the chorus melody is catchy. I must say this did better than I thought, so happy about that!

“Unraveling” is better than her last song in one of these RDs but still not a fan of Madeline Merlo at all, she needs stronger material for sure

🌺CountryLineDancer I ranked The Abrams at 22 🙂 “Good Old Days” was decent, but I probably wouldn’t revisit it.

#14 Dean Brody - Black Sheep
Dean Brody YE RD History #10 (2020) Canadian Summer Losing another big name in the Canadian country music scene, Dean Brody. Unfortunately, ccarter1023 lost another top 5 songs. This was released as the 4th single from Black Sheep, and interestingly, none of the singles became the #1 hit. CLD's ThoughtI thought this would take the top 10 spot with ease, and it was even in the top 5 at one point, until the last two lists from bboat11 and toomuchboy tanked this completely. I don't love this as much as Canadian Summer, but this is a really strong song, lyrically and melodically. Yeah, quite surprised that this is leaving here.

#13 Tenille Arts - Mad Crazy Love
Tenille Arts YE RD History #1 (2020) Somebody Like That The winner from the 2020 RD is leaving! This song surprisingly became the second most polarizing song. While this song was released after "I Hate This", which is in the album, somehow, this song did not make it to the album. This song was gonna end up at the bottom half of the list, until receiving two #2 last rankings from bboat11 and toomuchboy . On the other hand, tim gets rid of his #31. CLD's ThoughtThis is another great tune by Tenille Arts, but not as strong as her other materials. I love the melody and tempo of this song. However, every time I hear this song, I kinda get tired after its second chorus, and not keen on the bridge part and how the song ends. Still a great song, but again, this would not have helped her establish her radio career in the US.

“Mad Crazy Love” is actually not one of my favorites from the fantastic Tenille Arts, but it still definitely deserved top 10 here lol. Glad it got close!

Tenille Arts is overrated. She still feels very blah to me and this was no exception. Not bad by any means, but "Mad Crazy Love" was certainly far from a favorite for me among the other females in the RD (with the exception of Kristin Carter who I put slightly lower). Pleasantly surprised to see her come up shy of top 10 here!

@lbtrocks I’m surprised you like Karma considering your comments regarding some of the other songs and their pop music leanings! Love Karma so much!
Looking at he reveal, I was surprised I ranked Black Sheep as low as I did but it still didn’t do a lot for me. I get very strong Dierks Bentley vibes from it and Dierks usually leaves me feeling indifferent. Canadian Summer is the jam though (along with some others from his catalogue).

#12 Andrew Hyatt - Didn’t Know Me
Song with the lowest Std is leaving! Just 1 point ahead of Tenille Arts. It has been in the top 10 until the last 2 lists from bboat11 and toomuchboy . Andrew's position in Canadian country music scene is kinda hard to explain, but he always has a solid instrumental production and has a little bit of country rock vibe in many of his songs. He usually hits top 20 with his singles, but no #1 hit as far as I recall. It has been a while since we saw a perfect ranking, and .indulgecountry got one here. CLD's ThoughtThis song has a really strong and catchy chorus melody, but not impressed that I'm one of the lowest rankers of this song. Did not include Needed That, as I wasn't keen on that song, but considering that he did quite good here, you might see more of his materials in the future RD. Curious to know if tim came up with any comparison between Andrew and some US country singers.

Andrew Hyatt - Need A Bar Sometimes This song won't be in any RD as it wasn't a single, but seriously the same intro...

Curious to know if tim came up with any comparison between Andrew and some US country singers. Nothing immediately comes to mind, but yea that intro to "Stuck" is a blatant rip-off of Clay Walker's "Need a Bar Sometimes"! As for "Didn't Know Me", I thought this had a great melody and was just all around a catchy song. Going back to "Mad Crazy Love" by Tenille Arts, I'm not sure if my low ranking for it was necessarily warranted but I just didn't really care for it at all. That said, I have liked a lot more of her newer material including "Somebody Like That" and especially "Back Then, Right Now".

#11 The Reklaws - I Do Too
One point ahead of Andrew Hyatt and the last song to miss the top 10 is The Reklaws. Another song with kinda ok response, considering there's no top 5 or bottom 5 rankers, while Where I'm From got two top 5 rankings by bboat11 and tim . It was kinda hard to predict the performance of this song, as on the one hand it has this snap-track production, but on the other hand, it has a very strong chorus melody. CLD's ThoughtThis is definitely my favorite song by The Reklaws. I do like the lyrics, but the chorus melody and the harmony is just amazing! I kinda over played this song when it came out, as I was so attached to this song, and ended up just being my #1 song, but back when this was released, I was crazy about this song.
