#5 Meghan Patrick - Things I Shouldn’t Say
The first song to leave the top 5 is Meghan Patrick. Huge improvement from #19 in the 2020 RD. bboat11 , .indulgecountry , and toomuchboy scored the perfect ranking here. ClevelandRox cleared another bottom 5 song. Of all the 11 singles she has ever released, this song did the worst in terms of the chart performance CLD's ThoughtI love this song, and this might be the best song by Meghan, if you ask me. This song has a very strong lyrics, and the Meghan's vocal is so powerful and working well with the instrumental production with rock vibe. Still sad that the radio ignored Meghan's best song, I guess the lyrics were too sexy for radio...? To add, I think slow-tempo song works well for Meghan's voice. Also, a bit surprised that LBTrocks did not rank this too high, as this song does have a bit of Lindsay Ell vibe, which did not exist in My First Car.

I am pleasantly surprised to see Terri Clark making enough noise to place in this top 5!! She is of course about the closest thing to a "big name" in the eyes of the Pulse community that these rankdowns will offer until we get back far enough to have people like Shania alongside her, but there is no denying that her newer material hasn't connected nearly as well with us as her older material did. See: "Young As We Are Tonight" finishing in like the 80s when I put it in the 2018 year-end country rankdown, and "One Drink Ago" finishing in like the 60s... I'm still not sure what to expect from it, but I'll keep rooting for it to do better as long as it is in!!

#4 Kristin Carter - KARMA
From bottom 10 in 202 to top 5 in 2019! Kristin Carter jumped up with her debut single! 4 of us put this in the top 3, and 8 of us put this in the top10 while ClevelandRox cleared another bottom 5. CLD's ThoughtI adore Kristin Carter, and this is how I got to know her. This is a bop, and very glad that many of y'all liked this enough to rank this in the top 10. Amazing melody, lyrics, and production, and on top of that, very strong vocal performance, which I can tell because of her show. This was gonna be my #1 easily, but I definitely overplayed over the year. LBTrocks pointed out checking more of her materials, but unfortunately, the label does not let her release any new song lately, so there are not much out there (same for Shawn Austin). However, feel free to message me, as I can share some of the videos of unreleased songs that I recorded at her concert, both in person and virtual. Just cannot wait for more of her materials, and once she releases one, I will make sure to request bboat11 to include them in the New Music RD in the future!

#3 Jess Moskaluke - Save Some Of That Whiskey
This is our #3! 5 of us ranked this in the top 5, including @indulgeconutry's #1. Another big improvement for Jess, from #12 to #3! This was released as the 5th single from Past the Past. Also, that I, whose profile picture is Jess Moskaluke, is the lowest ranker of this song... CLD's ThoughtAnother very strong song by Jess Moskaluke. She's an amazing vocalist, and one of the female singers that I would like to see being promoted in the US. This song was a grower, actually, but after a few listens, I was in love with the strong chorus melody and the production that works really well with her vocal performance.. I didn't love Past the Past album as much, but this or Drive Me Away are my favs. My favorite song of the year so far is still Leave Each Other Alone by Jess.

Oh, I'm here just in time for the finale! Thrilled that "KARMA" made the top 5 because it was one of my favorite discoveries and one of those songs that just leaves a lasting impression. And that's a great picture of you and Kristin

Jess Moskaluke has been growing on me! I really want to love her, as she seems to have a decent following on Pulse as well as a fairly substantial catalog built up already plus she's really cute too but so far her voice has been pretty vanilla to me and her material has been a bit too inconsistent. Maybe "Country Girls" was just a bad introduction to her, as I'm pretty sure that was the first song I ever heard from her. "Leave Each Other Alone" was excellent though, and "Save Some Of That Whiskey" is as well!!

It's quite possible that underranked "Save Some Of That Whiskey" and maybe should've given this one a few more listens. It certainly has a strong chorus melody that our host mentioned above. Also, I do wish "Wine" would've been able to squeak into the top 5 especially when it missed it by only a point! This is such a bop and while I'm sure most of y'all already know, the song is rather fitting as I'm kind of a wino

Now I am THRILLED to see Terri in the top 2!!!!! Between "Damn Right" finishing at #2 in the 2004-2006 Flops rankdown a few months ago, her album series being fairly well-received, "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me" winning castle's shuffle rankdown this month, and now being in the top 2 here as well, she's finally been enjoying the rankdown spotlight that she deserves which was unfortunately elusive towards her in the first couple years of the rankdown trend!
"Young As We Are Tonight" still gives me anxiety about its chances of winning just because it did so poorly in the US year-end rankdown, but then again "I Don't Love You" is by no means universally loved either... This finish is so exciting!

While I really had no idea what to expect going into this as far as the top 5, I'm not at all surprised that the final two comes down to Terri Clark and Lindsay Ell. I know that Pulse is a huge fan of "I don't lovE you", I still have to give the edge to "Young As We Are Tonight" based solely on the fact that she's well-liked across the board amongst all of us Tractors and has many fans on here. She also just came off a win from another rankdown with "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me", so it would be great to see her win again!

Kristin Carter must be a fan of Maren Morris. Two of the three “original” songs that Kristin has released were Maren co-writes (Karma being one of the Maren co-writes).

#2 Terri Clark - Young As We Are Tonight
Total: 75 Average: 6.82Std Dev: 7.61 Chart Peak: #21 bboat11 - 1 zaclord 🌈 - 1 ccarter1023 - 1 tim - 2.indulgecountry - 2castleoblivion26 - 3 LBTrocks - 5 toomuchboy - 7 ClevelandRox - 14 James - 15 🌺CountryLineDancer - 24 #1 Lindsay Ell - i don't lovE you
Okay, this is it! Lindsay Ell took the cake, who was also the runner-up in the previous one! toomuchboy, LBTrocks, and castleoblivion26 scored the perfect ranking! Terri Clark was behind by 15 points (yeah so it's not like my #24 pulled her down a lot, I think Lindsay would have won, even if I did not underrank Terri). This was her last single on the radio, and I kinda wish she tried with her new song "The Highway", but i haven't seen any adds yet, sadly.
CLD's Thought Definitely underranked Young As We Are Tonight, like by 5 points. I didn't care for this when it was on the radio, but as I listen to this more for this RD, I started liking it more and more. However, still happy that Lindsay took the cake, as i don't lovE you is a magnificent song, and still cannot believe that it flopped.

Not quite the outcome I was expecting, but I gotta give it to you LBTrocks ! Maybe it's just that you happen to live in a state bordering Canada, but you seemed to have a pretty good feel for this rankdown.

#8 Chad Brownlee - Forever’s Gotta Start Somewhere #2 Terri Clark - Young As We Are Tonight Setting the joke aside, pretty sure these are two different #24s, as I can say I really enjoy Terri's song, but I assume that ain't the case for boat!

When we do year-end rankdowns everyone else is always like "I only really enjoyed my top 40" and I'm like "the first song I don't like is my #98" 😂😂😂 I even get made fun of for it sometimes. Just listened to Chad Brownlee's song again, and I do enjoy it! It's a solid B+ from me, lol. Also "The North remembers" aodfijasorihaoifaeoidafcoj that is probably the funniest possible use for that gif 😂

Although my #1 bowed out before the top 5, I can't argue too much as both of my top 3 songs wound up in the winner's circle. I did kinda think that Terri had this one in the bag just based on her fanbase here on Pulse, but there's also no denying the same for Lindsae Ell who I continue to underestimate. Speaking of, "i don't lovE you" is a song that took a long time to grow on me and took more than a just a few listens. This song kept inching up bit by bit on my list until finally it landed in my top 3. This rankdown really was a breath of fresh air and as I mentioned earlier in the thread, a lot of the country music coming from our neighbor up north is miles better than what we're being served with down here in the States. Thanks again 🌺CountryLineDancer and I'm looking forward to more of these in the future!

Final Comment:Thank you everyone for participating the RD and interacting with me during the reveal! This is my fav rankdown series to host, so really enjoyed it! I know y'all weren't too familiar with the songs in the list, but glad to hear many voices talking about making some discoveries! The 2018 series will be here in this fall, including Terri Clark's collaboration with Dallas Smith, Tenille Townes's US hit Somebody's Daughter, and Lindsay Ell's big hit Criminal in the list, so hope to see your lists again! The next one will be an artist RD, and I was initially planning Emerson Drive, but looking at Tenille Arts working on her third album, and considering that Tenille has been well-liked here in general, I am leaning towards hosting "Tenille Arts Album RD", so hope LBTrocks and castleoblivion26 won't mind it! Emerson Drive RD is definitely coming in the future. - When I did a reveal, I also thought of posting a photo with Meghan Patrick which is somewhere on FB and Insta but it's far from a nice photo, so didn't happen this time lol. - I will work on improving the list for 2018 RD, based on the result of this RD, so hopefully it will be a better one! - Also thinking of doing some decade end RD in like 2 years lol, and for now, my plan is to include all the top 5 songs of each year. RD stats will be posted soon!

Congrats to Lindsay on her well-deserved back-to-back victories!!

Yikes, I just went back and checked the 2018 RD, and can't believe it ended at #81. but wow "Champagne" by Lindsay Ell did better than YAWAT! And I Hate This, which might also be in my 2018 RD, was even higher!? I wish I had joined that RD, as the results look "interesting"...

Terri Clark was behind by 15 points (yeah so it's not like my #24 pulled her down a lot, I think Lindsay would have won, even if I did not underrank Terri). First of all it's 17 points difference not 15 points (if your totals are correct). Secondly you ranked Terri at #24 and Lindsay at #6. Removing your ranks means Terri would win by 1 point.

True it's 17. And yes, removing mine would mean Terri's victory, but what I meant here is that Terri would not have won even if I did not underrank her, which I did by like 5 or so points, as mentioned in the final reveal. YAWAT could not have been in my top 10 either way. What could have been done here is for you to participate in this and save Terri, if you wanted her to win :) . (but I can assume that many songs in this list would not have been in your style, so understandable that you didn't join). On the side note, I kinda regret no giving "I Think You Oughta Try Whiskey" another chance here, as I was disappointed when it got tanked in your RD.

Thank you 🌺CountryLineDancer for a really fun, refreshing rankdown. I was familiar with literally none of these songs and only a few of the artists so it was a lot of fun diving into these songs. Thanks again!

Apparently "Breathe" is available for purchase on the iTunes Store as well, so if y'all want it in your playlists you can still get it that way! It's a Cystic Fibrosis charity single, so all the proceeds go directly to research for that, hence it being available for purchase but not for streaming :)
