The absolute SLAYAGE of Lindsay Ell continues. That point gap between her and the other two is crazy, lol. Glad she bagged another win! She remains one of the few Canadian country acts that I wish would truly break into our market. It's criminal (no pun intended, lol) that she has had like 8 singles go to radio here and only one of them did even remotely well. 🙃

Closing Thought:Thanks everyone for participating in this game again, and appreciate the participations during the reveal as well. No Canadian artist broke through in the US market in 2022, unfortunately, so I would like to see if any of these artists can put their name on the US airplay chart. Reveal Time! I have been a little busy with my work and assignment, but I will try to complete the reveal through this week, before going on my vacation to Utah/Arizona for a week. As much as I would definitely prefer to have a few more participants, personally speaking, this list is not as strong as other Canadian YE RDs I have hosted so far. Still, it would be interesting to see how songs from Shania or Colter Wall would perform here, given that this is their first appearance in this series. This is also the time of transition between mid 2010s and late 10s, in that we are going to stop or we have already stopped seeing new successful faces, such as Jade Eagleson, MacKenzie Porter, and Aaron Goodvin, while singers like Road Hammers, Paul Brandt, and Autumn Hill would frequently show up in my list going forward in this series. He was never favored on this board, and he has never escaped the bottom 10 spot in this game despite this being his 5th entry. .indulgecountry scored the perfect ranking, and this song received 6 bottom 10 rankings out of 7 participants. There is a gap of 32 points between this song and #29, so this was the bottom spot contender throughout the submission period. Lonely Drum 2.0 was released in 2020 and sent to the radio, receiving only 6 adds in total on mainstream, while managed to chart on the Indicator Chart. CLD's Thought (Prediction #30 - PR)I listen to this song mostly because there is a great line dance choreography that I enjoyed teaching. Not Aaron's strongest song lyrically or melodically, and compared with Lucky Stars or Boy Like Me, the vocal is also pretty okay. I have been including him in this series quite often, given that he's been trying to send radio singles in the US as well, but I may not include him as often at this point... |

I can say, the main reason this is in my bottom 2 is because of the relative strength of everything else in this list. The repeated words in the chorus make this feel slightly immature, plus Aaron's voice is pretty thin in the chorus, so this just doesn't compare favorably. I don't hate the song though!

This is Petric's second appearance in the game, and the trio from Manitoba, including Petric Brothers, has not impressed Pulse just yet. bboat11 becomes the first participant to lose their top 10 spot, while castleoblivion26 got rid of their bottom spot. They are not with the label anymore, so chances are that we are seeing less of them on the chart recently. CLD's Thought (Prediction #29 - PR)This song has a decent melody, and the banjo production is making the song pretty catchy. I also enjoy their vocal, but also they sound better with a slower song, in a song like Single Problem. The lyrical development is not deep, but also I do not mind the wording that they use. |

This was sooooo catchy! I don't love the vocals necessarily, and could totally understand this being annoying rather than catchy to certain listeners. But that damn banjo does a LOT of heavy lifting to make this an undeniable earworm, lmao.

Another song with 152 points is leaving. This was Eric's debut radio single, and best performing song on the chart to this date, while he's still showing his face on the chart here and there. On Pulse, he became one of the rare males to make it to the top 10 with if You Met Me First in the 2019 game, but his popularity did not last through this song. tim and bboat11 got rid of their bottom spot here. CLD's Thought (Prediction #16)Eric has a good vocal, and this song has a fine melody, but still a huge step down, compared with If You Met Me First. I'm not a big fan of that "Shots, Shots, Shots" part after the chorus. To be fair, I was not really impressed by any of his songs other than If You Met Me First, so hoping that he could bring back that writing and melody with another song in the future. |
