#6 "Standing Here"
The last album track to leave is Standing Here. This is the first song without bottom rankers. This song was the only song included in "Worth the Wait" EP, but did not make it to "The Project" (excluding Stop This Train, the John Mayer cover). One of the writers is Ryan Hurd. CLD's ThoughtThis is definitely my favourite album track, so glad it made it all the way here. The chorus melody is really strong, and the guitar production is really distinct, especially at the last chorus. I wonder why this did not make it to the album, because this definitely should have. Loved this song! If anyone has a lead on a copy of the EP I could buy for my physical collection, let me know, PLEASE 🤞 CLD, thanks for your work on this! I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without knowing about rank downs.

How many rankdowns do I need to participate in to be included in the tag list? 🙃 You can simply reply Here that you want to be included in the tag list for Country RDs (or other genres as well if you wish), then you'll be added into the tag list and you won't miss any RD :)

I just listened to the playlist for the first time this morning and I have to say I was impressed. There isn't one song I outright disliked and something I realized after listening to this is that Canadian country artists are much better at contemporary country music than what comes out of Nashville. For example, a song like “Can’t Help Myself” is very Walker Hayes-esque and had he been the vocalist behind that track I know I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much. “If You Met Me First” is like a cross between say Parker McCollum, Brett Young, and Michael Ray and while it may have drumbeats it still incorporates the steel guitar into the production. There are quite a few other examples, but I’ll share more of those thoughts during the reveals. Oh, and this song “Wine” is my JAM! I shared it with a friend of mine and he replied with, “Did you help write that song?!”

And those are great comparisons that I did not notice (Can't Help Myself can totally be by Walker Hayes' lol). Those are impressions that you can have only in the first few listens, and I've heard most of the songs too much to realize those similarities anymore, so looking forward to seeing more of those comparisons you found throughout the reveal! Oh, and this song “Wine” is my JAM! I shared it with a friend of mine and he replied with, “Did you help write that song?!” Looks like Emily is redeeming herself after poor "California King" in the Global Country RD! ( LBTrocks was right!!)

( LBTrocks was right!!) "Wine" is so much better than song with the wannabe-Rihanna title lol. Anyway, I submitted for this tonight. It's a stronger list than I was expecting, honestly. Interested to see how this plays out.

1. What is going to be #1/#32? I know there are several who like Tenille Townes, so it could be her, I guess. "Watered Down the Whiskey" for last.
2. What are in the top 5/bottom 5? "Jersey on the Wall," "Karma," "I don't lovE you," "Young As We Are Tonight," "If You Met Me First."
Bottom: "Water Down the Whiskey," "Drop," "Can't Help Myself," "There's a Drink For That," "Drink About Me."
3. Any favorite new discoveries? "Karma" and "Maybe It's Me."

Reveal Time!!Participants 1.🌺CLD 2. James 3. ClevelandRox 4. ccarter1023 5. tim 6. zaclord 🌈 7. castleoblivion26 8. LBTrocks 9. .indulgecountry 10. bboat11 11. toomuchboy Opening Thought: Excited to start my fav rankdown series! 32 songs would be the biggest RD I've ever hosted, and the reveal might go slowly with some intermissions by the songs I have excluded from this RD, so throw you comments about any song at any time! Got 11 participants, the same number as the last one, with 3 new participants! This RD got quite messy with many changes in rankings over the submission period. Hope y'all enjoy, and the result of this RD would be used to create the list for 2018 YE RD in this fall. Also, 30 out of 32 songs in this list are in my regular playlist, so it wasn't easy to rank them, and I might say something like "I like this song!" for my #27 song lol. Coming up is #32, we are losing an independent singer.

#32 Dan Davidson - Can't Help Myself
Starting this RD with Dan Davidson, who has one of the most successful independently released radio song "Found" in Canada. He was known as a vocalist of a rock group Tupelo Honey. All the participants put this in the bottom half. The last list from toomuchboy pushed this to the bottom of this RD. This was one of the last songs that I added in the list. CLD's ThoughtDan Davidson gives me this impression as a funny guy, looking at music videos and social media and such. Can't Help Myself is a catchy tune, and I enjoy it, but looking at the performance in this RD, you are unlikely to see him again, except for his biggest hit "Found" in the 2016 list. tim 's comparison of Dan Davidson with Walker Hayes felt quite accurate particularly for this song!
