So happy to see Tareya hanging on as I really like her and that song. Wish she'd bring back Autumn Hill but if not I'll take some solo stuff from her

#10 Emerson Drive - The Road
Total: 147
Average: 16.33 Std Dev: 9.53 Chart Peak: #6 I'm back from vacation (nah I still miss Hawaii), and time to continue! Starting the top 10 reveal with #1 loss by nathanalbright . Emerson Drive scored a great improvement since its last appearance in the bottom three of the 2020 version. This was their last big hit in Canada, becoming a #6 hit. After this, Country People only made it to #44 in 2019, and they have not released anything to the radio since then. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #22)This song is alright, not too bad, but the chorus melody did not grab me as much as their other materials. Also, I recall LBTrocks and castleoblivion26 were showing some interest in Emerson Drive RD when they showed up in the 2020 RD, but I'm wondering if they prefer album RDs or a single RD. Looks like the band did not receive much of the favor of those two fans with this song.

so I loved Emerson Drive's first album and want to dive into their other albums more. I enjoyed this song well enough and had it just outside of my top 10 but I definitely miss their earlier sound as the newer stuff sounds a bit cheap tbh

#9 Aaron Pritchett - Worth A Shot
Total: 144
Average: 16 Std Dev: 9.68 Chart Peak: #6 The last solo-male song to leave is Aaron Pritchett, another classic figure who was popular back in 90s. This received two top 5 rankings, and no bottom 5 ranking. This is the first appearance of Aaron Pritchett to this series, and while he is fading out from the radio scene recently, he will appear more in the future RDs for the previous years. His son Jordan is in the band Faber Drive, a rock band from BC that I really like. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #31)This did far better than I thought. It's catchy, and I love the melody, but like Madelie Merlo, I kinda overplayed this song, hence my lower side of ranking. Looking at this decent performance, I should include him more in the future, as I even cut off his only #1 hit Better When I Do from 2019 (partially also because I don't care for that tune lol).

Used to adore Emerson Drive (that's putting it mildly, lol) but their new music ain't it. I do love their latest "Every Girl That Got Away" tho.
I like Aaron Pritchett but "Worth A Shot" is so not my thing.

#8 Tim Hicks - The Worst Kind ft. Lindsay Ell
Total: 143
Average: 15.89 Std Dev: 10.74 Chart Peak: #17 Another male lead single is leaving, and myself finally got rid of the bottom ranking, while three participants are losing their top 10. With the help of Lindsay Ell, Tim Hicks not only escaped the bottom 10 for the first time, but entered into the top 10 (maybe for the last time). CLD's Thought (Prediction: #6)Yeah, this ain't bad or any, but I haven't really looked for this tune or even heard it much, so didn't really connect with me. It's a solid rock tune, and better than What A Song Should Do or his current single Whiskey Does, but yeah, alright for now.

#7 Tareya - White Flag
Total: 116
Average: 12.89 Std Dev: 9.71 Chart Peak: NA Tareya from former Autumn Hill is leaving, and she is also the last one from my "pick", who did not chart. After the disbandment of Autumn Hill in 2017, Tareya and Mike both pursued the solo career, but neither has found success in their solo materials. This song received five top 10 rankings, and tim cleared their bottom 10 with this reveal. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #7)I adore this song, so glad see it doing well, but I was also hoping that this would make it to as far as top 5! I think the snap clap verse production could be polarizing, but Tareya's vocal is spectacular, and the melody is fantastic. Glad to see some top 5 rankings from bboat11 and castleoblivion26 . I wish she had been successful with the solo career, or reunite Autumn Hill with Mike.

#6 Alee - Don’t Make Me Miss You
The last song to miss the top 5 is the independent artist Alee. This song received no bottom 10 ranking, but no top 5 ranking, being the least polarizing song. This is the second appearance of Alee in this series, and she continues to be doing decently well among Pulse crowds. She has not entered the chart since 2020 with No One Like You, unfortunately, while she was doing fine before as an independent figure. LBTrocks scored the perfect ranking, being the highest ranker (great taste here!) CLD's Thought (Prediction: #10)I love this song, I'd say my fav by Alee. I wish it made it to the top 5, but there is a difference of 9 points between this and #5 song. The chorus melody is really strong, and the entire mood of the song is really pleasant. This is also produced with a lot of snap clap around the verse, so I was a bit surprised to see this being the least polarizing one here.

“The Worst Kind” is amazing! Lindsay Ell definitely makes it more amazing, but the song itself is great too, and I’m not a Tim Hicks fan.
The Alee song was great and I love her too, have for a long time!

Oh hi I'm here now! What a strong top 5!!! And it's pretty much exactly what I would have expected, although I am thrilled to see Tenille Arts making it in since I know "I Hate This" is the flagchild for some of our Pulse Friends to declare "I Hate Taste".

Alright time to finish!
#5 Tenille Townes - Somebody’s Daughter
Total: 105
Average: 11.67 Std Dev: 8.07 Chart Peak: #1 (CAN) #26 (US) The first song to leave the top 5 is Tenille Townes. This is her first top 5 song in this series, and James placed it in the #1 spot. Only 2 participants placed this song in the bottom half of their list. This is also the first song to leave that was in the US chart. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #14)I thought this would be more polarizing with the vocal arrangement, so glad that it made it this far. This is still my best fav song by Tenille Townes, love the lyrics, and the melody was a grower. Jersey may be stronger lyrically, but melodically, this is the jam to me. This was #88 in the big YE RD in 2018 though?? How was that possible? (Other note: when I was checking the performance of this song in that RD, found out that Tailgate by RaeLynn was just below this at #89... I won't let these happen if bboat11 ever do the 2018 RD again!)

#4 Tenille Arts - I Hate This
Total: 100
Average: 11.11 Std Dev: 10.61 Chart Peak: NA (CAN) #41 (US) Another Tenille is leaving here. As bboat11 suggested, this received some lower end rankings, (I do like this one, so don't call me a hater here lol), but 6 participants placed this in their top 10. tim scored the perfect ranking. This is the only song in the list that did not chart in Canada, but only charted in the US. While this was released in 2018, it was included in Love, Heartbreak, & Everything in Between from 2020. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #13)This song was a grower, and I like the lyrics, but still not her best. The chorus melody is a bit complicated, so a bit surprised to see it staying as high as top 5! I wish some other songs from Rebel Child were released to the US radio, instead of this one, as I don't think this was a strong debut of Tenille to the US radio. She remains amazing to me though, and I'm ready for the next single, now that BTRN is gone for a while.

For some reason I tend to really enjoy songs where the chorus has a gradual ascending pattern to the melody. The chorus of "I Hate This" resonated with me immediately for that reason. It's not nearly as good as something like Toby Keith's "We Were In Love", which is always my immediate go-to example of a chorus pattern that gets higher and higher leading to an incredible song, but it's still pretty ear-catching by modern country music standards!

#3 Jess Moskaluke - Drive Me Away
Total: 95
Average: 10.56 Std Dev: 5.83 (2nd Lowest) Chart Peak: #3 #3 spot was given to Jess Moskaluke. She had an okay debut to Pulse with Country Girls, but for other songs, she keeps defending her top 3 spot! This was released in 2017 as a lead single from Past the Past. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #2)This song is pretty catchy and energetic. My fav single from Past the Past, along with Save Some Of That Whiskey. It's great to see Jess connecting well with Pulse!

Now let's get rid of Jess and let Terri and Lindsay face off yet again!!!! Hell yeah!!!!! As happy as I am for Terri in this moment, I see absolutely no way that "One Drink Ago" beats "Criminal", which is an incredible song and one of Pulse's favorite female songs of the last 5 years for a REASON!!!! So I'll root for Terri, but whichever way they finish, it's my #1 vs #2 either way

Total: 55
Average: 6.11 Std Dev: 8.39 Chart Peak: #1 (CAN) #19 (US) Sorry, no surprise, but this is it! #2 is Terri Clark and Dallas Smith. This song was released as a non-album single, and only peaked at #3. Without this song, Dallas would have scored eleven #1 hits in a row, from Autograph in 2016 to present. Predictably, Lindsay Ell took the crown with 35 points difference. castleoblivion26 scored the perfect top 2 rankings, and LBTrocks , tim , and .indulgecountry scored the perfect ranking with Criminal.
CLD's Thought (Prediction: #4 and #1) One Drink Ago is a jam, and great to see Dallas making it to this high, even though this song received great rankings mostly due to Teri lol. I can see this happening to I Ain't Drunk by Gord Bamford and Terri Clark for 2020 RD. I've been to Dallas's concert twice, but he never sang this at his show, unfortunately. Criminal is a timeless masterpiece. Lyrically, vocally, and melodically, this was the perfect chance for Lindsay to score a big hit down in the US and become a crossover hitmaker, but alas, did not happen.

Closing ThoughtThank you everyone for joining. 2018 was not my best fav year, compared with other years, but I still like most of the songs here. The top 5 was filled with 4 singles that were in the bigger RD, but Jess Moskaluke broke through and won over two Tenilles with Drive Me Away. Aaron Pritchett broke into the top 10 as a solo male with its first appearance to the series. Tareya ended up being the most popular one among my "recommendations", beating Lindi, Maddison, Kalsey, and Heidi. Hope y'all made some discoveries in this RD! I'm gonna open up my Global RD series soon, and on this thread, Emerson Drive album (I hope posters other than LBTrocks and castleoblivion26 would also join) is opening up, before moving on the 2022 YE RD in November. Final Results1. Lindsay Ell - Criminal (55) 2. Terri Clark & Dallas Smith - One Drink Ago (90) 3. Jess Moskaluke - Drive Me Away (95) 4. Tenille Arts - I Hate This (100) 5. Tenille Townes - Somebody’s Daughter (105) 6. Alee - Don’t Make Me Miss You (114) 7. Tareya - White Flag (116) 8. Tim Hicks - The Worst Kind ft. Lindsay Ell (143) 9. Aaron Pritchett - Worth A Shot (144) 10. Emerson Drive - The Road (147) 11. MacKenzie Porter - About You (152) 12. Heidi Raye - Lay Me On Down (153) 13. Kira Isabella - Danger Danger (157) 14. Yeah, the absolutely expected and correct finish! Slightly bummed that Lindsay vs Terri has resulted in Terri losing out twice now, but it was absolutely deserved in this year! Ironically, I kinda feel like "One Drink Ago" may have had a better shot vs. "i don't lovE you" than "Young As We Are Tonight" did... Of course we'll never know, but that's just my perception of how these two songs of hers are received. Terri's great, but her music the last few years has not been her "best" by any means, so I'm a little surprised yet super pleased that she was able to take them to the top 2! However, as we keep moving backwards, we are just going to keep coming up on years where Terri will be a major threat for the victory, so I totally expect her to win this series eventually! (Also, can you imagine if we keep this going far enough to have Terri vs. Shania regularly facing off?! What an epic time that will be!!!)

2022 YEAR-END CAN COUNTRY RD Deadline: December 15Halloween is done, so that means it is the time for YE Rankdown series! And yes, let's make a tradition, like last year, the top 5 of this RD would make it to the bigger YE RD hosted by bboat11 ! So your ranking counts! And just for this RD, I would appreciate if you could submit in time, as bboat's RD would start at the end of December! The list is shorter than last year with 32 songs, some regular faces, some new faces. Hope you can make some discoveries here! {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{CLD Prediction}{CLD Prediction} Criteria: I excluded Dallas Smith, High Valley, and Tim Hicks from this year due to their constant low performance on this RD (I may bring them back for the next one, but nice to take a break). 11 Beers isn't here due to its lower performance at New Release RD, and I Ain't Drunk isn't here as it got the humiliation of the last spot in Madness game. Other songs chosen based on its chart performance, RD performance, and my recommendation.
