Glad we're finally about to get this show on the road. I'm all for more participants, but we need to get through this asap so we can open bboat11's Year-End RD.

Reveal Time
Now that all the lists are in, I am going to start the reveal. After counting the list from LBTrocks, there is a tie at #5, and per discussion with bboat11, 6 songs are going to move on to the YE RD. Let's just say one of the top 6 songs was very surprising to me. In terms of Canadian country music in 2022, there was a lot of new move within Canada. Six Canadian songs became #1 in Canada, including 11 Beers, Hide from a Broken Heart, New Old Trucks, Pickup, She Don't Know, and Where'd You Learn How To Do That. Unfortunately, on the other hand, there was no attempt to send a new Canadian song to the US mainstream radio, while the rumour says that Madeline Merlo will have a radio tour in the US soon. zaclord 🌈 .indulgecountry bboat11 nathanalbright ccarter1023 castleoblivion26 LBTrocks tim

#33 Amy Nelson - Trippin'
Kicking off the reveal with Trippin', and Amy Nelson became the first female artist to take the bottom spot of this series. She was signed to Open Road earlier, after this single failing to chart on Billboard, she was dropped, and thus, this may be her first and last appearance here, and I'm assuming no one would be sad about that. ccarter1023 started with the perfect ranking! CLD's Thought (Prediction: #21)I get that this song has a bizarre melody, and her vocal is not really strong, but still surprised to see a female act taking the bottom spot. I found the melody to be weirdly infectious sometimes tho.

#32 Ryan Langdon - Country Like You
2019 She Knows It #27 Next up is Ryan Langdon. This is his second appearance to this series, and so far definitely failing to impress the participants. This is his comeback song, first radio single to hit the chart since 2019. tim got rid of their bottom spot, and castleoblivion26 scored the perfect ranking. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #33)I knew this sort of generic song would be performing poorly. I like Ryan's vocal, and the melody and production is not bad as well, but also very safe generic song + lyrics are just like 50 other country songs. I'm still glad that he is back to the chart, as his voice is pleasant for this tune.

#31 Nate Haller - Ain't Like Me
There was a tie here, so the one with higher standard deviation is leaving first. Nate Haller was new face from 2021, and he continues to score a hit in 2022. He is yet to impress Pulse, and this one did even worse than his debut single. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #23)I like most of the outputs from Nate Haller, as many of them have strong melody, but I'm yet to find a country element in his song. Most of his songs sound very poppy, and so does his voice. I predicted him to flop in 2023, but looks like the radio is already interested in the follow-up song that was sent to the radio last month. This also sounds like a release from High Valley.

#30 River Town Saints - Maybe A Little
Here is another song with 218 points. This is River Town Saints's debut to this series, and looks like they did not impress anybody. They had some hits around 2016, and after being dropped from Open Road, they have been struggling, but came back to chart in 2021 after 3 years of gap. LBTrocks scored a perfect ranking. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #32)Not surprised to see a boy band country song doing poorly here. They are like King Calaway of Canada. I actually quite like the catchiness of this tune, and lyrics are not too bad, so I wish it stayed a little longer here.

#29 Shantaia - Broke to Brand New
Another female artist is leaving. Shantaia released this song independently, and made it all the way to #33 was quite impressive. She is a regular nominee of country award in Saskatchewan, but this is her first appearance to the mainstream chart. LBTrocks got rid of his #33. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #15)This was a grower for me, so I kinda get that many people were not impressed with the first listen, but still sad to see it leaving so early. The chorus melody is also a bit weird, especially the beat, but after giving a few listens, I started liking it a lot. She has a pleasant vocal as well to my ears. I'm surprised to see this being the last spot of LBTrocks, I mean I thought he would find something else to be more annoying than this lol.

#28 Steven Lee Olsen - Nashville or Nothing
The first song to escape the bottom 5 (and I single handedly aided that) is Nashville Or Nothing. I become the first person to lose the top 5, while .indulgecountry got rid of their bottom spot. Steven Lee, also known as a writer, wrote Leave Me Alone (Brett Young), Different Without You (LBT), and You Keep Thinking That (Lady A), in recent years. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #30)This may be my fav song by Steven Lee in a while. I also like Can't Not from 2 yrs ago, but I really dig this, which was not the case with most participants, as expected. This song is very R&B/soul influenced, and lacking country element, but something about this song made me enjoy it a lot throughout the year.

#27 Shawn Austin - Slip
Another top 5 loss is here, and this time, it is by LBTrocks . I honestly find Andrew Hyatt and Shawn Austin to have similar vibe, alternative rock style country, but always see Shawn underperforming Andrew. As you can see above, his performance on this RD has been dropping as the year goes by... CLD's Thought (Prediction: #16)I'm okay with this song, but surprised to find so many low rankings. It's not my fav lyrically, and even melodically, I prefer Tailgate To Heaven (unpopular opinion), but still, I like that Shawn is doing not bad on the chart, as he is local after all. I just also realized that this is my first bottom 5 reveal, meaning none of my bottom 5 was in the bottom 5 of this RD...

#26 Aaron Goodvin - Lucky Stars
Aaron Goodvin is departing the RD, and LBTrocks lost another top 10. This is a better performance for Aaron Goodvin's standard, but still received two bottom 5 rankings. This song was written by Aaron, but originally released by Josh Gracin, so if you liked the song but did not like Aaron's vocal, it is worth a shot. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #17)This is a really solid song for Aaron, so expecting it to do a little better. Melody is really strong, and Aaron's vocal is not too rough. You are most likely ranking You Ain't with Meghan Patrick next year, so let's see he can do any better. Speaking of Goodvin, he continued to try sending songs to the US, and Boys Like Me was sent to the US, only to be charting on a small market chart.

#25 Manny Blu - Train
Another tie with 190 points. One of the polarizing songs is leaving. Manny Blu was born in Montreal, and moved to Nashville as "punk-country singer." He released an EP in 2022, but never sent a song to the mainstream radio. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #31)I was surprised to see some top 10 rankings other than my own ranking. It was expected that this style would be polarizing, also receiving four bottom 5 rankings. This is a fun jam imo, and I saw him opening for Dallas Smith, but I don't love his other materials as much. It is unique style after all, so I would be interested to see if he would try the radio success.

#24 Danielle Ryan - Before
The last song to fill the bottom 10 is Danielle Ryan. She is receiving rather mild response here, Weather Man also failing to make it to the top 20. She is signed to 604 record, and she released a debut EP in April, but she has not been on the chart yet, only receiving adds from the local stations in BC. Some of y'all encountered her song Take Me Back in Madness game. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #24)This song is catchy, and I really love the production. It's not strong lyrically, and I don't particularly love the verse, but it's overall pleasant pop country song. I suppose her vocal is a bit polarizing here. Regardless, I hope to see her on the radio scene this year.

I finished up the bottom 10 now! It's been quiet (as I'm doing the reveal during the day), but would love to see some comments on the reveal so far! 24 Danielle Ryan - Before25 Manny Blu - Train26 Aaron Goodvin - Lucky Stars27 Shawn Austin - Slip28 Steven Lee Olsen - Nashville or Nothing29 Shantaia - Broke to Brand New30 Nate Haller - Ain't Like Me31 River Town Saints - Maybe A Little32 Ryan Langdon - Country Like You33 Amy Nelson - TrippinI may continue with the reveal tonight, or tomorrow during the day! Meanwhile, here are some hit songs that missed this RD (and reason for the miss). {Spoiler}Gord Bamford - I Ain't Drunk (This would've been my #1 of this RD, but this got humiliated in Madness + it flopped on the chart, so I chose the bigger hit) Dallas Smith - Hide From A Broken Heart (Dallas has been tanked a lot + this song is meh) Ty Herndon - Dents On A Chevy ft Terri Clark (another song I would have ranked within my top 5, but the lead is not Canadian, so I had to cut). Dallas Smith - One Too with MacKenzie Porter (another meh song + poor performance on New Release RD). {Spoiler}

So far this hasn't been going too bad. I didn't like most of the songs in this rankdown, and coupled with prior RDs, I think the majority of the offerings from our neighbors to the north is a bit weaker than what we get out of Nashville, I'm afraid.
That said, I did make some great discoveries and Manny Blu's "Train" was among those. Shame it didn't make it to at least the top 20 here.
