#27 James Barker Band - It's Working
Total: 143 Average: 20.43 Std Dev: 7.48 Chart Peak: #3 🌺CountryLineDancer - 10 tim - 15 bboat11 - 17 LBTrocks - 17 castleoblivion26 - 27nathanalbright - 28 .indulgecountry - 29 2018 - #28 Good Together 2019 - #29 There's A Drink For That 2021 #30 New Old Trucks w/Dierks Bentley 2022 #2 Wastin' Whiskey
The runner-of singer of the 2022 RD is leaving here. JBB is back to their regular spot of the bottom 5, after getting #2 spot with Wastin' Whiskey miraculously in the 2022 game. This received three bottom 5 rankings, including the perfect ranking from castleoblivion26 , while I lost a top 10 song. CLD's Thought (Prediction #24)This is surely a stepback from Wastin' Whiskey, or even other songs like Good Together, but I still find it to be a catchy positive JBB song that makes you want to dance. Nothing notable regarding the lyrics or melody, at the same time, so not surprised to see its early departure. I also chose this song over Chills, mostly due to my personal choice, even though Chills was released and charted in the US (I actually think Chills to be one of my lease fav singles by them so that was an annoying choice that they sent Chills to the US radio...).

#26 High Valley - Dear Life
Total: 138 Average: 19.71 Std Dev: 11.06 (2nd Highest) Chart Peak: #5 nathanalbright - 3 🌺CountryLineDancer - 5 bboat11 - 21 .indulgecountry - 25 tim - 27 castleoblivion26 - 28 LBTrocks - 29 2018 - #29 Young Forever 2019 - #26 Single Man 2020 #22 Grew Up On That
Expected sets of reveals so far eh! Another tie with 138 points, so the one with higher standard deviation is leaving first. As expected, this song received the hate in particular from Tim, Castle, Indulge, and LBTrocks. This is actually the first time High Valley escaped the bottom spot of LBTrocks 's list lol. Myself and nathanalbright are the first two to lose the top 5 song. Unavoidably, this was the second most polarizing song in this game. CLD's Thought (Prediction #28)Welp, this was also expected, given that 4 out of 7 participants have constantly been showing their annoyance towards the outputs from High Valley. I still enjoy this kind of production and I like the fast tempo in this song, but yeah, unlike LBTrocks , I have never seen them live, so I'm kinda curious to see how bad they could be at the concert to be hated so much lol.

#25 Cold Creek County - This Town Is You
Total: 138 Average: 19.71 Std Dev: 5.25 (4th Smallest) Chart Peak: #38 LBTrocks - 11 tim - 17 🌺CountryLineDancer - 17 bboat11 - 19 .indulgecountry - 24 castleoblivion26 - 25 nathanalbright - 25
This is the first appearance of Cold Creek County to this series, and they seem to fail to leave a strong impression here. This song was one of the least polarizing songs, but still received three bottom 10 rankings, including two perfect rankings from Castle and Nathan. I'm not too familiar with these guys tbh, but they are a band from Ontario, and Wikipedia states that they were active up until 2019, and I have not heard any of their new music since 2019, but at the same time, their Instagram was active until 2021. Still, the lead vocal's Insta is also quiet when it comes to the music, so they may be actually taking a break from the industry.
CLD's Thought (Prediction #27)This song is pretty average, but I still enjoy their vocal and production. The melody is also not bad, while could be stronger. I really like the melody of the ending part ( Every Stop Sign, Every Parking Lot, Every Red Light... part), so I kinda wish that they used that melody as the A melody in the song. I may include a few more songs from them in the future, so curious to see how they perform. They also had a song called Gold back in 2019 that I excluded from the list with Rachel Wammack

#24 Brett Kissel - We Were That Song
Total: 132 Average: 18.86 Std Dev: 6.62 Chart Peak: #4 🌺CountryLineDancer - 6 .indulgecountry - 17 LBTrocks - 18 tim - 19 nathanalbright - 22 castleoblivion26 - 23 bboat11 - 27 2018 #22 Anthem2019 #17 Drink About Me2020 #13 A Few Good Stories2021 #11 Night In The Life2022 #22 Watch It
Next up is Brett Kissel. He has never missed making it to the list of this game, and yet, this is his worst performance. It seems that I was the only enjoyed this song, placing this one in the top half of the list. This was released as a lead single of the album We Were That Song, which has 4 radio singles, all of which became the top 10 hits.
CLD's Thought (Prediction #12)This song is a jam imo, I like the production and energy in the song, and the melody is pretty catchy as well. The repetition of the title became a little too much by the end of the song, but I'm still surprised that this is the worst performing song by Kissel so far in this series.

#23 Andrew Hyatt - Do It With You
Total: 129 Average: 18.43 Std Dev: 9.13 Chart Peak: CLD's Thought (Prediction #13)This song is pretty faceless and forgettable. The melody and production is pleasant, but I cannot see anything standing out around this song, and compared with his other entries in the game, as well as Hanging Around Kind from my personal RD, this is on the weaker side, and thus, not too surprised that this is his worst performing song. I would prefer the strong writing like Neverland, or memorable melody like Hanging Around Kind. The vocal is still great though.

Off to a decent start as I’ve already shed four of my bottom 5 songs! One of those was “Lonely Drum” which I admittedly rather liked on first listen. That feeling didn’t last long, long as it got, way, way too repetitive. Anyways, it eventually found it way into my bottom two, two. While I like the vibe of “Play it Safe” and admit it's a smidgen bit catchy, it’s still a pass. And maybe I’m crazy, but Petric sounds like Panic! At The Disco meets High Valley lol. “Liquor Calls the Calls” was such an easy last place that I don’t think I ever even considered anything else (high five to bboat11 for us both having the same last place song!). Kinda surprised this wasn’t LBTrocks ’s first place . Speaking of High Valley, “Dear Life” might actually be my favorite thing from them. That isn’t saying much as it still landed in my bottom 3, however. I might’ve been a bit too harsh on my ranking here as the song isn’t really that bad. Pulse hasn't really been too keen on the group, so them leaving early on isn't a shock. “It’s Working” and “This Town Is You” were the only two songs to exit that happened to be at or near my top 15. Both were quite enjoyable and I think they'd likely grow on some with a few more listens. "Do It With You" was one of the more forgettable songs among this group to leave, so it's exit isn't surprising.

#22 Shania Twain - Life’s About to Get Good
Total: 123 Average: 17.57 Std Dev: 9.86 (4th Highest) Chart Peak: #26 CLD's Thought (Prediction #4)This song is pretty average, and I wish Swingin' with My Eyes Closed was single instead, as that one is a jam. I kinda got sick of the song due to the repetition of the title by the end of the song, but this one was still the second best song from Now album, imo. Still surprised that this ended in the bottom 10, considering the popularity of Shania here.

#21 Alee - When I Do
Total: 122 Average: 17.42 Std Dev: 6.58 Chart Peak: #46 .indulgecountry - 8 bboat11 - 12 LBTrocks - 14 castleoblivion26 - 18 🌺CountryLineDancer - 20 tim - 23 nathanalbright - 27 2018 #6 Don’t Make Me Miss You2020 #9 No One Like You
The last song to fill in the bottom 10 spot is Alee. This is her third appearance on the game, and the last two songs were received far more positively than this one, both finishing within the top 10, while this one could not even escape the bottom 10. This is also the first song that I featured in this series that do not appear on the streaming services.
CLD's Thought (Prediction #15)This song is pretty generic, and definitely a large stepdown from Don't Make Me Miss You or No One Like You, both of which I love. Alee's vocal is still pleasant, and the chorus melody is not bad, but I just get a little bored with this song, maybe something about the production.

#20 Leaving Thomas - Blame It On Neon
Total: 121 Average: 17.29 Std Dev: 9.79 Chart Peak: #19 tim - 1 castleoblivion26 - 10 🌺CountryLineDancer - 13 .indulgecountry - 19 bboat11 - 24 nathanalbright - 26 LBTrocks - 28
There was a three-way-tie with 121 points, so again, the songs are leaving in the order of the highest to lowest standard deviation. This is the first appearance of Leaving Thomas in this series. They are a duo from Calgary and were with MDM label (Jess Moskaluke, Tim Hicks etc.) until the split in 2020. The lead vocalist Annika had a solo radio single charted back in 2020, and she was in Canadian Idol as a solo singer back in 2007. tim unfortunately becomes the second participant to lose their #1 spot, while nathanalbright and LBTrocks got rid of their bottom 5 spot. CLD's Thought (Prediction #11)I am pleasantly surprised to see a #1 ranking on this song. The lyrics are on a fine side, but the melody is quite strong, and Annika's vocal on the chorus is noteworthy imo. I haven't paid much attention to her solo materials, but listening to their album, I do like quite a few songs thanks to Annika's strong vocal. Since there are several male-female duo in the contemporary Canadian country music scene, here's my very concise summary: Reklaws - Most successful. Average vocal and harmony. Many catchy song but rather pop oriented than pop-country. Five Roses - Newest. Female has a decent vocal, reminding me of Tareya from Autumn Hill, while male is weak. Pop country style, similar to Autumn Hill. Some French songs. Leaving Thomas - Split. Strong vocal from Annika is distinct, but unlike other duo, the male presence is close to none. Autumn Hill - Split. Great harmony led by the strong female vocalist Tareya. Contemporary pop-country style. castleoblivion26 can say it better for sure. Sons of Daughters - Split. Average vocal, but strong harmony. The male half Jimmy is a successful producer in Canadian country music scene. The producer of Dents On A Chevy by Ty and Terri.

#20 Leaving Thomas - Blame It On Neon
Total: 121 Average: 17.29 Std Dev: 9.79 Chart Peak: #19 And there it is, lol. This song just droned on and on for me. Shania being in the bottom half is a head-scratcher for me. Her new music has all been pretty awful imo, I haven't really liked any of it tbh. I thought she might get a bit higher just cuz she's Shania, but song-wise I'm not surprised to see this low.

#19 Gord Bamford - Neon Smoke
Total: 121 Average: 17.29 Std Dev: 8.64 Chart Peak: #10 LBTrocks - 9 bboat11 - 10 tim - 11 nathanalbright - 12 castleoblivion26 - 24 .indulgecountry - 26 🌺CountryLineDancer - 29 2018 #24 Dive Bar 2021 #29 Heaven On Dirt 2022 #20 Drink Along Song
The next song with 121 points is Aussie-Canadian singer Gord Bamford. This song received two bottom 5 rankings and two top 10 rankings. This was actually Gord's first time to be in the 10s in this series, although the bar is pretty low. I suppose he had some decent performing songs, such as Diamonds In A Whiskey Glass in my personal RD or I Ain't Drunk in New Country RD, but his outputs on this series have not been received as well so far.
CLD's Thought (Prediction #23)This song has a typical Gord's dark mood, which I usually enjoy, and I like the verse, but the chorus was a let-down. I just feel like this is a knock-off of When Your Lips Are So Close, which also has the same vibe, but a better melody. Still, I do prefer this over some of his recent failure, such as #REDNECK or Just Let Go.

#18 Colter Wall - Thirteen Silver Dollars
Total: 121 Average: 17.29 Std Dev: 7.99 Chart Peak: NA
tim - 4 nathanalbright - 8 castleoblivion26 - 20 .indulgecountry - 20 🌺CountryLineDancer - 21 bboat11 - 23 LBTrocks - 25 The last song with 121 points is Colter Wall. Along with Corb Lund, Colter Wall is considered to be an outlaw/bluegrass/roots style, rather than the contemporary country music that are found on the mainstream radio. His albums tend to do well on US Folk or US Heatseeker chart. tim lost his second top 5 song with this reveal. CLD's Thought (Prediction #18 - PR)I knew Colter's vocal would be polarizing, and the production type is not typically my fav, but I think it was still an interesting addition to the game. I do like the melody of this song, and story telling is not bad, while could have been a little more interesting. I also wish that the a streaming version included a little more of the fiddles that are included in the live video above. I have been paying a little more attention to this outlaw side of country music, and making some discoveries, so hope to include a few more of these materials in the future.

#17 Genevieve Fisher - You Me We
Total: 120 Average: 17.14 Std Dev: 6.47 Chart Peak: #26
CLD's Thought (Prediction #14)I might have been a little too harsh on this song. The beginning part of the production has a little too much snap-clap, but it improves as the song goes on. As well, I enjoyed Genevieve's vocal pretty well in this song. I hope to hear some more new music from her, as she has good potential imo.

This was Dean's first #1 since 2013 with Bounty and his last #1 in 2010s. CLD's Thought (Prediction #6)This is a disappointment. I really love the production of this song, it has such a catchy melody as well. I can already see LBTrocks criticizing the lyrics of this tune being dumb, but I mean it's a fun song after all, so I can take this. This does not deserve to be ending in the bottom half of the list in the game, but again, no other posters placed this in the top half than myself, so it ended where it is supposed to be.

Interesting to see that all of Gord Bamford's songs have finished in a very similar place, with this one just baaaaaarely being the highest. I can just about guarantee that his record would be a LOT higher than #19 if we had ranked his duet with Terri Clark, "I Ain't Drunk", in the 2022 rankdown

I kinda wish I included in the 2022 YE RD (It would have been my #1 over First Taste of Gone), but again, I kinda got annoyed that it ended at the bottom spot of the Madness Game (yes, by now, I accepted the fact that most country songs would end there regardless), and Drink Along Song was a bigger hit on radio with its tribute to Montgomery Gentry, so... Here is a version with Meghan Patrick at CCMA. I do prefer Terri's version for sure.

nathanalbright - 5 LBTrocks - 12 🌺CountryLineDancer - 12 castleoblivion26 - 14 bboat11 - 22 .indulgecountry - 23 tim - 26 2021 #32 End Of The RainThe first song to leave in the top half of this list is Boy With A Guitar. This is Jason Blaine's second entry to this game, and this was a decent improvement from his last appearance with End Of The Rain, which was released independently with more folk/acoustic influence, while this song has more of the traditional Jason's country rock style. This song received one top 5 and one bottom 5 ranking from nathanalbright and tim , respectively. CLD's Thought (Prediction #17)Glad to see this received better than Jason's previous entry. As much as I liked End Of The Rain, this song has the strong guitar production that I like from Jason's typical output. The lyrics are on the average side, but the vocal and melody is pretty enjoyable and enhanced well by the guitar production. Also, Jason is back to the chart this year for the first time since 2018, so happy about that!

#14 The Road Hammers - All You Favorite Bands
Total: 113 Average: 16.14 Std Dev: 9.81 (5th Highest) Chart Peak: #46
nathanalbright - 4 tim - 7 .indulgecountry - 9 LBTrocks - 15 bboat11 - 25 castleoblivion26 - 26 🌺CountryLineDancer - 27 The next up is The Road Hammers, who is joining this series for the first time, and looks like their debut was polarizing. This received three top 10 rankings and three bottom 5 rankings. They are a country rock band formed by Jason McCoy and Clayton Bellamy, who are also releasing some solo music. They also had a few songs sent to the US radio in 2000s, but they have been struggling to score a big hit even in Canada in the recent years.
CLD's Thought (Prediction #25)I'm not too familiar with The Road Hammers, and I'm not too sold on their southern rock style and hence, they had never appeared in this game, although I have not checked many of their materials. This song is one of the better ones I heard, and I do enjoy the check-listy lyrics, and the melody is solid. However, I also found the guitar production to be a little too loud. I definitely enjoyed the first part of the song with subdued production as I can get to enjoy the melody more, while once the guitar comes in, it is a bit distracting, I found.

castleoblivion26 - 7 tim - 8 🌺CountryLineDancer - 9 nathanalbright - 15 LBTrocks - 16 .indulgecountry - 27 bboat11 - 28 2018 #21 All About HerThe next up is the classic figure who also showed up in the 90s YE RD hosted by tim . This song received three top 10 rankings and two bottom 5 rankings. This is the second appearance of Paul in this game, and he improved the position from the last game. He is on a tour with Terri in Canada this fall. CLD's Thought (Prediction #20)Good to see a better reaction to Paul's song from the last time. To me, the production style of this song, combined with the energetic chorus and music video above, is effectively delivering the title of the song "Journey". There is just something in the song that evokes the imagery of nature. Definitely something I enjoy listening to when I'm on a road trip in North America.

Nicole Rayy has never been on the radio chart, but she has made it to this game several times before, including Sad Song, which performed decently well in the 2021 game and New Country Release RD. This received two bottom 10 and two top 10 rankings.
CLD's Thought (Prediction #19)This song has a great chorus melody, and the country-rock vibe in the song is pretty good. I just wish that Nicole's vocal was produced a little better. It is not like she is a weak vocalist, considering her vocal performance in Sad Song or Feels Like Yesterday (which also has a country rock production, but her vocal sounds better). The production is overpowering her voice in this song, which would have given me a better impression otherwise.

#11 Tenille Arts - What He’s Into
Total: 102 Average: 14.57 Std Dev: 9.66 Chart Peak: #47
LBTrocks - 2 bboat11 - 4 castleoblivion26 - 13 .indulgecountry - 14 nathanalbright - 19 tim - 20 🌺CountryLineDancer - 30 2018 #4 I Hate This2019 #13 Mad Crazy Love 2020 #1 Somebody Like That2021 #2 Give It To Me StraightThe last song to miss the top 10 is What He's Into. Two posters lost their top 5, while I finally got rid of my bottom spot. This is the debut radio single for Tenille, and the only single from her debut EP. This ended at #15 of 20 songs in Tenille Arts Album RD, and this was my last spot as well. The impression must have changed over time, as bboat11 ranked this song at #18 in that game, while .indulgecountry placed this at #4, and here, bboat is ranking this song 10 spot above indulge. CLD's Thought (Prediction #8)Sorry not sorry, this is my least fav song from Tenille by miles. The only thing I like about the song is the production maybe, as I do not like the lyrics or chorus melody at all, and you folks do know that I usually am a big supporter for Tenille. The lyrics are kinda dumb, and Tenille's vocal isn't even that good. If this was the introduction of Tenille to me, I might not have been as big of a fan of hers as I am now lol.

“What He’s Into” is not among Tenille’s bests, but I still love the style and it’s a jam. I actually don’t like what she’s doing with her voice in the verse tho, like just sing the song instead of trying to do that fake trendy accent thing.

#10 Dallas Smith - Sky Stays This Blue
Total: 101 Average: 14.42 Std Dev: 10.13 (3rd Highest) Chart Peak: #1
nathanalbright - 2 🌺CountryLineDancer - 2 .indulgecountry - 12 tim - 18 bboat11 - 16 castleoblivion26 - 21 LBTrocks - 30 2018 #2 One Drink Ago (with Terri Clark)2019 #25 DROP 2020 #11 TimelessThe first song to leave in the top 10 is Dallas Smith. He usually struggles to escape the hate from posters here, so this is his first solo entry in the top 10. Myself and nathanalbright lost the top 2 spot, while LBTrocks got rid of his bottom spot, which was warranted to Dallas, even with the existence of High Valley in the list. CLD's Thought (Prediction #26)Welp, in a hindsight, my ranking to Dallas and Tenille helped the former snatch the last top 10 spot a lot eh! Still, pleasantly surprised to see only 1 bottom 5 ranking to this song. With the spirit to support the local singer, I have been enjoying Dallas's output constantly, and this was no exception. The production and vocal is pleasant, and the melody is very catchy and energetic, depicting the imagery of clear blue sky, the theme of the song.

HOW did Dallas Smith get so high, he is so atrocious and this is probably one of his worst songs. I put it below High Valley… that should say something. What a horrible beat, production and melody. And what corny lyrics, I can’t with him.
