#5 Tyler Joe Miller - Pillow Talkin'
Total: 131 Average: 11.91 Std Dev: 7.08 Peak on Billboard Canada Country: #1 1st single from "Sometimes I Don't, But Sometimes I Do" ClevelandRox - 3 George Strait Junkie - 4 James - 7 jamesflame - 8 castleoblivion26 - 8 🌺CountryLineDancer - 11 Kanenrá:ke - 11 LBTrocks - 14 .indulgecountry - 19 bboat11 - 22 tim - 24
#5 is one of the newest country singers on the chart, Tyler Joe Miller. This Vancouver boy appeared on the chart from nowhere, and now has such a strong momentum. This is his debut single, and his best song by far to me. Looks like this song worked well for some posters, including ClevelandRox , who mentioned this as the favorite discovery! Great vocal, instrument, and melody, but kinda surprised that this lasted long, considering that no his name is not well-known. Did anyone actually know him before this RD...? Anyways, Tyler Joe Miller, Matt Lang, and Jade Eagleson are the three new male Canadian Country singers to keep an eye on!!!
Edit: Having dinner. Still planning to continue in an hour or so! Loved this song so much. Hated to see how much he was into Trump.

Sorry, my after dinner card game lasted longer than usual. Assuming not so many are left here. Will continue tomorrow I guess...? George Strait Junkie ClevelandRox jamesflame James bboat11 🌺CountryLineDancer castleoblivion26 Kanenrá:ke .indulgecountry tim LBTrocks Meanwhile, these are #1 hits that are removed due to 1 artist 1 song rule. I'm pretty sure I chose songs that would be more popular in Pulse. Extra #1 HitsDean Brody & The Reklaws - Can't Help Myself:My super guilty pleasure, but I know "I like cold beer yes I do ~" kinda lyrics won't do well here. Video is fun! Dallas Smith - Like A Man:I like this song, too, but definitely weaker than "Timeless" Tyler Joe Miller - I Would Over Me Too:Very great instrumental production and lyrics here. Not a huge fan of the melody, but if you liked Pillow Talking, worth checking out. Jade Eagleson - Lucky:I chose Close over this, even though Close wasn't #1 hit. This is his only #1 hit, and I enjoy this, but lyrically weak. The bridge part of L-U-C-K-Y is kinda weird.

#4 MacKenzie Porter - These Days
Total: 111 Average: 10.09 Std Dev: 7.80 Peak on Billboard Canada Country: #1 (#45 Hot Country & #56 US Country Airplay) 2nd single from "Drinkin' Songs: The Collection" ClevelandRox - 1 🌺CountryLineDancer - 2 James - 4.indulgecountry - 6 castleoblivion26 - 7 LBTrocks - 7 tim - 9 bboat11 - 12 Kanenrá:ke - 17 jamesflame - 22 George Strait Junkie -24 Mackenzie Porter is the first queen to leave here! She is one of the most successful solo female singers in the Canadian country chart. Especially since 2018, her career has been growing. These Days is her most successful song; it was released in the US radio (upsetting that it didn't do well there ). Also, the remix version of this song was sent to AC radio in Canada. This is my favorite by Mackenzie for sure, and this was my highest rank of all the 4 queens, so
Since I picked this song for 2020 based on US release, her follow-up single "Seeing Other People" will counter-chronologically show up in 2019 RD.
Remix version sent to AC radio.

I didn't include "These Days" in the 2020 Country Rankdown because I thought y'all hated it after how it performed in New Country Releases... So I'm intrigued seeing it do so well here!!! I definitely should have put it in the year-end rd, lol.
This song has grown on me a lot through the months. It was a bit too poppy for my tastes initially, but now I find it getting caught in my head quite a bit. I'm excited to follow her career from now on!

Now I'm hoping for Lindsay to be #3... "Want Me Back", while still being great, doesn't come close to the level of her best work, whereas "Record High" and "Somebody Like That" are both among Sykamore and Tenille's most inspired work thus far!

But I can see some people not liking this for heavily pop-influenced production, so I may have lost #1 earlier than I did for Why We Drink at #44. Expecting her to release something new soon, now that she's sent almost all the songs in her EP to the radio.

#3 Sykamore - Record High
Total: 92 Average: 8.36 Std Dev: 6.42 Peak on Billboard Canada Country: Did not chart, stupid radio stations! 1st single from "California King EP" tim - 1 bboat11 - 1 Kanenrá:ke - 1 castleoblivion26 - 3LBTrocks - 6 jamesflame - 7 🌺CountryLineDancer - 12 ClevelandRox - 14 .indulgecountry - 14 James - 15 George Strait Junkie -18 Yes, this is the great thread where people recognize the awesomeness of Sykamore.
Sykamore = Jordan Ostrom is an Alberta-born country girl whose name is often heard in Pulse these days. She has never been on any Billboard country chart, and I have never heard of her song on radio. So I was pleasantly surprised when I saw her name on Pulse, like she is not well-known even in Canada, curious to know how she got introduced into Pulse and you folks. Record High is her best single; production, melody, vocal, and the lyrics.. everything about this song is impeccable, and I guess she is too good for radio (and some people who tanked this song in New Music RD ). She has been releasing new songs recently, including my new favorite Stay Broke. (Still upset that this was #19 in New Country RD!!)

Yes, this is the good thread where Sykamore is getting what she deserves. Sykamore = Jordan Ostrom is an Alberta-born country girl whose name is often heard in Pulse these days. She has been releasing new songs recently, including my new favorite Stay Broke. (Still upset that this was #19 in New Country RD!!) Kanenrá:ke recommended "Record High" for the April New Releases rd last year, so I included her. The song didn't do all that well, but I fell in love, so I have been following her ever since, and shoving her down everyone else's throats whenever she releases new music So I wouldn't say she has all that much hype on Pulse... It's basically just me as far as I know, with an initial push from Kanenrá:ke 😂 Kanenrá:ke, how does it feel to be the one who started it all??!

Anyway, after coming THIS close to the next RotB rd, I am sad to see "Record High" leaving now :'( However, I am also super happy with this finish because I have honestly been expecting her to leave any time since we got to like the top 20, lmao! #3 is way better than I ever would have dared to hope for for Sykamore in any rankdown based on how she's been treated so far!
I just love "Record High" so much. I've mentioned in the New Country Releases series that I love Sykamore's delivery style, and it is super apparent on this song. The way she delivers "hell" and "heaven" in the chorus specifically is so unique to her, I can't imagine anyone else delivering those lines in quite that same way.

Total: 56 Average: 5.09 Std Dev: 3.78 Peak on Billboard Canada Country: #9 (US airplay #9 Hot Country #13, still climbing) 3rd single from "Love, Heartbreak, & Everything in Between" LBTrocks - 1bboat11 - 2 castleoblivion26 - 2 tim - 3 George Strait Junkie -3 James - 5 Kanenrá:ke - 6 ClevelandRox - 6 🌺CountryLineDancer - 4 .indulgecountry - 12 jamesflame - 12 Our top 2 are the two queens that are the most successful in the US. I'm rotting for both in the US chart!! I do like wAnt me back, but not the strongest material by Ell, while Somebody Like That is definitely the best work by Tenille, and glad she is successful with this song. It is great to see Lindsay being promoted in the US, but frustrating at the same time that she is always stuck around 50s. As Tenille has never won #1 in Canada, hoping she can get her first #1 with the newest single "Give It To Me Straight". As I'm the lowest ranker of Lindsay Ell here, I expect y'all to participate in Lindsay Ell RD starting tomorrow!!!!!

Woohoo!!! I always love seeing an artist enter the rankdown winner world for the very first time "Somebody Like That" is still not getting old for me at all despite being on the radio for like an entire year, so I really hope it successfully hits #1 in a few weeks!

So, the Worth The Wait EP essentially became this album, as nearly the entire thing ended up being put onto the album... However, a couple of them did not make the album. Would it make sense for "Standing Here" and "Stop This Train" to be included here, since they were apparently from the same recording sessions that led to this album?
Edit: Actually "Stop This Train" was put onto the John Mayer cover album, so maybe it doesn't count. But "Standing Here" would be from the same sessions as this album!

I was thinking of adding "Standing Here" and Stop This Train (even though this is a cover, I'm considering adding this in the RD, as it was in the EP + it won't hurt to have 1 cover song in the RD) into the next heart theory RD. There were 5 non-album singles prior to "The Project" so I decided to deal with those first. By adding "Standing Here" and "Stop This Train", as well as Workin' Out into heart theory RD, there will be 15 songs in that RD, and there are 17 in this RD, which I think is better balanced than 19 songs in this and 13 songs in next. (it could be more if Deluxe version comes) But I get what you mean, and my idea is not the best in terms of chronological order. Do you think it's better to add Standing Here into this RD, and ignore Stop This Train, and add just Workin' Out into the next RD? While Kanenrá:ke has already submitted the list, adding 1 song will not be a problem, if I take this option?

Chronology matters more to me than balancing the amounts of the two rankdowns. But that’s just me! I’ll participate either way, lol 😊

Kanenrá:ke please re-submit the list with Standing Here! Thanks for sharing your views on this bboat11.

I'll do this one. I've never heard this album in full since I really didn't like anything from Lindsay until "By the Way", so I never gave this album a full listen. Will get on it sometime this week probably.
