🌺CountryLineDancer "Broke To Brand New" encompasses every trend in modern country that I detest, it was an easy last place for me lol I don't have time to catch up on the rest rn

I'm liking the reveals so far. I got rid of 7 of my bottom 10 so I'm happy with that. Only mild disappointment is "Slip" - I really enjoyed Shawn's voice and the song's urgent pacing. Looking back, I probably overranked Shantaia. It wasn't as enjoyable as I remember it being. Overall though, great reveals! Thanks 🌺CountryLineDancer!

Yeah, this is going alright so far, but I also am disappointed to see Manny Blu out already! "Train" had such an engaging melody. It was one of those songs where no matter how 'quirky' it tried to be, the melody was stilll undeniable, haha.

So far this hasn't been going too bad. I didn't like most of the songs in this rankdown, and coupled with prior RDs, I think the majority of the offerings from our neighbors to the north is a bit weaker than what we get out of Nashville, I'm afraid. That said, I did make some great discoveries and Manny Blu's "Train" was among those. Shame it didn't make it to at least the top 20 here. I mean the fact that you can call your #10 as one of great discoveries implies that you did enjoy 1/3 of the list, so that honestly sounds not bad after all :)

#23 Kelly Prescott - Convertible
Here is a standalone reveal before going to bed. Kelly Prescott missed the bottom 10 by 1 point. This received two top 5 rankings, but also received two #33 from myself and bboat11 . This was a debut single by Kelly Prescott, and radio was really excited about it at first, climbing up the chart quickly, only to lose momentum after 10 weeks. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #20)As much as I wanted to like a debut radio single by a new female artist that often shows up in the local concerts, this was not my thing. I believe she has roots/bluegrass influenced songs as well, but I just didn't dig the vibe and melody of this tune. Good to see some fans tho!

#22 Brett Kissel - Watch It
Next up is Brett Kissel. This song is a follow-up to Ain't the Same, a collaboration with 98 Degrees that flopped, and presumably a second single from the upcoming album. This received one top 10 ranking and three bottom 10 rankings. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #12)Brett Kissel's performance has been progressively getting better from 2018 to 2021, but 2022, fell back to #22. 2022 was a miss year for Brett Kissel, including the flop of Ain't the Same, which I didn't really like, and this is also meh for me. I thought this would do a little better here, but no complaint for this position for this tune. I hope he can come up with something stronger, like Night In The Life, in 2023. I cut this song due to the flop + I think his vocal is weirdly arranged here.

#21 Tebey - Sink With The Sun
The last song to miss the top 20 is Tebey. I did not really include him in this RD, as I was expecting him to be flopping here due to R&B influenced sound, so this happens to be his best performance on this RD or the global country RD. Still, there were no top 10 ranking and four bottom 10 rankings. tim scored the perfect ranking. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #19)I honestly think that this is one best thing Tebey did in a while. I enjoyed the combination of beachy production with sad lyrics, and his vocal sounds solid, and this is less R&B influenced, compared with his other recent materials. Shame that no one seemed to enjoy it.

How that Tebey song made it higher than a lot of jams already out is beyond me, it’s not good at all. I haven’t heard a single thing from him I’ve remotely liked. I’ve tried, I know he’s friends with Emerson Drive and that they’ve written together. But I don’t care for him lol.

I didn't hate a ton of songs on the list -- the Canadian offerings just tend to be a cut below the American ones. I wouldn't be surprised if only 1 or 2 of these (depending on what makes the top 5) land in my top half when we do bboat11's RD.

#20 Gord Bamford - Drink Along Song
Next up is Gord Bamford. This is his best performance to this day in this series, while he did better in Global Country RD with Diamonds in a Whiskey Glass, and New Country RD with I Ain't Drunk. This received two top 10 rankings. This was originally released by Montgomery Gentry, and it was a radio single in 2018, but did not chart (thanks for the info gardyfan ). CLD's Thought (Prediction: #26)This did better than I thought, and I'm happy about it. This fun drinking anthem became Gord's biggest hit since 2018. I really dig the original version as well. I am still bitter about I Ain't Drunk (which would've been my #1 in this RD) flopping after the hit of this song. Original:

I obviously much prefer MG’s, but Gord’s was still catchy. I actually liked a good chunk of this list, lol. This rank (19) was about the turning point for me vs stuff I’m good with vs stuff I’m not so good with lol.

Wish we could've ranked the duet w/ Terri Clark instead. I bet that would've made top 10, honestly.

#19 Meghan Patrick - Cool About It
Another female artist is leaving. Meghan Patrick officially got married to Mitchell Tenpenny in 2022! This was her biggest since since 2019 with Wild As Me. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #9)This was a solid effort from Meghan again, while not as strong as Never Giving Up on You or Things I Shouldn't Say. I am honestly surprised to see her constantly underperforming, only receiving love from indulge. I also want her to try something else again to the US radio. i was also surprised that she did not release My Left Hand as a radio single.

#18 Dean Brody - I'd Go To Jail
Next up is Dean Brody. This was the fifth and last single from the album Boys. This was rather polarizing, zaclord 🌈 getting rid of their bottom spot, while two participants losing their top 5. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #25)This song is fine to me, its lyrical approach is unique, while not really my favourite. The melody is solid, if not memorable. Dean has been okay for the last several singles, so I hope he can release some jam like Canadian Summer. Still surprised to see this being so polarizing tho!

Meghan Patrick stays underrated. One of the handful of females from Canada consistently putting out great tracks imo.

#17 Taylor Rae - I Can’t
Another female artist is leaving! Taylor Rae is Alberta born artist currently based in BC. She went to Capitano University in North Vancouver, which makes me feel close to her. She has never released any radio single, but she was nominated to BCCMA multiple times. The writer of this song includes Whitney Duncan. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #27)This song did better than I expected, as considering how poppy it is, I thought it would do as poorly as Real Real Thing by Maddison Krebs. It is catchy, but also even for me as a pop country fan, was quite poppy. She is also local, so hoping to see her breakthrough!

#16 Andrew Hyatt - Close To You
The last song to miss the top 15 is Andrew Hyatt. Being the 2nd most polarizing song, this was in everybody but bboat11's top 10 or bottom 10. Andrew keeps having unpredictable chart runs, and despite the success of the previous single Neverland, this one flopped due to a slop climb. This was a stepup from the previous RD, Habit, but stepdown from the previous year Neverland, which almost made it to the top 5. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #14)I usually like Andrew and his style, but this was a miss for me. I still wish Neverland made it to the top 5 in the previous RD tho. Also surprised to see so many polarizing rankings for this tune, and still glad to see some solid support for Andrew.

#15 Alli Walker - Sand In My Boots
The bonus song is leaving! The snippet of this song went viral on TikTok earlier this year, and Alli decided to record the entire song, which just came out a month ago. Alli has been doing fine, considering that I have been including her in this series with my personal choice, and she has never sent a song to the radio. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #11)Great to see some positive rankings for this cover. While Alli's vocal is understandably polarizing, I think she did a great job delivering this masterpiece, and lyrical story development is well-written, maintaining the sadness of the original song, but adding some positive ending to the last chorus, which was enhanced by the uptempo production at the last part of the song. I keep saying this, but hope she will try something on the radio at some point!

“I’d Go To Jail” was so bad, wtf were those lyrics lol. “I Can’t” wasn’t good either.
“Close To You” was a nice discovery, I really enjoyed that one.

#14 Dustin Bird - Hating On Love
The most polarizing song is leaving! Hating On Love is a debut for Dustin Bird to this series, and received both #1 and #33! ccarter1023 unfortunately becomes the first participant to lose their #1. Dustin is signed to Open Road, but never had a radio single, while also known as a producer and song-writer. He produced Sand In My Boots by Alli Walker. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #29)I have been loving this song for the last couple of months, and I am glad to see some tastes here by ccarter1023 and castleoblivion26, as well as top 10 ranking from zaclord 🌈. I knew his voice would be polarizing, but this song has a very distinct melody, and I did enjoy his vocal.

#13 Don Amero - Let You ft. Raquel Cole
Another #1 loss is here. nathanalbright may have been celebrating the departure of their #33, but the celebration ends here with the exit of #1. He is signed to MDM (Jess Moskaluke, TJ Miller etc), and he switched his genre from folk to country back in 2018. This is his biggest since so far, as well as for Raquel Cole, a BC born country singer. Don is one of a few indigenous country singers on the mainstream radio, along with Jason Benoit. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #18)This has been growing on me since I made a list, and I am definitely underranking it by several spots. I am okay with Don's vocal, but I quite like their harmony at the chorus, and Raquel Cole has a solid vocal for her solo part as well. I honestly wish it became a bigger hit on the radio.

I don't know that I would celebrate the departure of my #33, but I definitely mourn the loss of a truly lovely duet that really should have been a bigger hit, I agree.

#12 Jojo Mason - Let Me Down Easy
First reveal of the day is Jojo Mason. This was by far the best performance by Jojo Mason, including his performance in Global Country RD. This received four top 10 rankings and two bottom 10 rankings. This is the second single from Sky Full of Stars (following up top 5 hit single Broken Umbrella), and become top 5 hit, and overall, he regained the momentum in this era. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #22)This song has very different vibe from his R&B/pop influenced sound, and I quite like the rock production. I'm not sure his vocal was strong enough, but I still like the energy in this tune. He should stick to rock tune, rather than R&B song, at least to do well in Pulse lol.

#11 Jess Moskaluke - Knock Off
The cut-off for the top 6 was 103 points, so from here, it was a tight competition. and Surprise Surprise! The previous winner is leaving before the top 10, missing the top 6 by 9 points. This is a lead single from Jess Moskaluke's new era, and her first top 10 hit since 2019. This is her second time missing the top 3 in this series. CLD's Thought (Prediction: #5)This is another catchy jam by Jess. It is indeed a stepdown from the previous single Leave Each Other Alone, which was my #1 song of the year in 2021, but I was still surprised to see it missing the top 6 spot. She should be releasing a new album soon, so hopefully I can get to see her this time, as her show in Vancouver got cancelled last month. And for god's sake, if Robyn Ottolini is trying the US radio, she should!
