I'm glad Jana's still going to reach double digits, but between this and the Earl Thomas Conley showing...

Glad this was extended since I was busy all last week. Finally got around to listening to this, since I haven't touched this album (even the singles really) since it was current.

1. What is going to be #1/#12? Guessing Why Ya Wanna for #1 | Goodbye California for #12 2. What is the most/least polarizing? Most: King of Apology | Least: Whiskey 3. Which of the three singles (Why Ya Wanna, Whiskey, and I Hope It Rains) is going to do the best/worst? Guessing they'll be the top 3, with WYW winning. 4. Jana has released 5 non-album singles (like Dammit or Untouchable) since Thirty One. Should I include those 5 songs in my "Thirty One Rankdown"? (I heard both opinions, so I want to hear yours!). No, as they were not part of that album era and several of them came out quite a bit later than the album... 5. Any other thoughts/predictons? Rooting for King of Apology to do well, tho I can see it being polarizing.

I don't have much to predict except that "Whiskey" "I Hope It Rains" and "Why Ya Wanna" will definitely make up the top 3. "Why Ya Wanna" is the only Jana Kramer song that I actually hate so I really hope it doesn't take the win here, although I could definitely see that happening. Hopefully "Whiskey" or IHIR are able to overtake it here.

Ready!?Participants 1. 🌺CountryLineDancer 2. .indulgecountry 3. ClevelandRox 4. tim 5. Kanenrá:ke 6. Tylerjamesnerd 7. HeyHeyHey 8. bboat11 9. castleoblivion26 10. zaclord 🌈 11. LBTrocks 12. Kris Kringle 13. James Opening Thought: Jana Kramer is one of the female country singers I really miss from the main stream radio scene. We hear her name outside of country music world quite often, and good for her that she's still around as an actress, but for me, she does belong to country music scene. Her self-titled debut has a really strong set of 12 songs, and I enjoy most of them, if not all. 13 participants are in for this RD. A little underwhelming, but glad that the number increased at the end! Tylerjamesnerd joined my RD series for the first time, and several participants came back after missing the last month's Parmalee. Coming up is #12, 1 person will lose his #5.

#12 One of the Boys
Starting this RD with One of the Boys! This is one of the 3 songs in the album that was co-written by Kramer herself. 5 participants got perfect rankings, and this is in the bottom 3 of 9 participants. Kris Kringle became the first one to lose his top 5. CLD's ThoughtI think this song is quite catchy and fun, and has a decent melody. However, it is indeed weak, compared with other songs in this list. Still a bit surprised that this got tanked to this extent.

#11 What I Love About Your Love
Unfortunately, @countrocks became the first participant to lose his top 3, and Kanenrá:ke also lost his top 5, while I myself lost my #12. This was released as a digital single, and thus, has a music video. CLD's ThoughtIt's a little bit flat song to me, and not my favourite by her. But as I am listening to it right now, the chorus is actually not too bad. The verse, however, could have been better. Glad this was released only as a digital single, as this wouldn't have been a good radio single.

#10 Goodbye California
The last spot in the bottom 3 is filled by Goodbye California. tim got rid of his #12, while I lost my top 5 with HeyHeyHey . This is another song co-written by Kramer. CLD's ThoughtThis is a catchy jam and I knew this would be tanked here. Lyrics are kinda cheap, but I love the positive mood of this song. At least glad to see I'm not the only one who enjoys it!

#9 Good Time Comin' On
There's a tie here and 2 songs have 105 points. Per usual, the one with higher Std is leaving first, and I don't call a tie, as it is outside of the top 5. In the last game, two of the highest Std was tying, but this time, two songs with the lowest and third lowest Std are tying. CLD's ThoughtThis is a catchy fun song and great album opener. At the same time, however, this became forgettable as I kept listening to the entire album, and thus, it ended up being my #11.

Oh fantastic start! These three were 100% the correct bottom 3.
I almost predicted "One of the Boys" would be last -- as it should be -- but something told me someone would prop it up and it would sneak ahead of something like "California" here. Either way you spin it though, these three songs are the clear outliers from her debut era. I don't outright dislike any of them, honestly, but they all feel like fairly uninteresting filler.
ETA: "Good Time Comin' On" deserved a bit better imo. It feels a lot fresher/less corny than the other three.

#8 Good as You Were Bad
And here's another song with 105 points, and this one, surprisingly, had the lowest Std. Looks like many of us had kinda okay impression with this song. It has been the case where many of my RDs have super low Std, but that's not the case this time! CLD's ThoughtThis song has a very strong instrumental production (I'd say my fav from the album) and lyrics. If the chorus melody was stronger and more memorable, this song could have been a smash.

#7 King of Apology
The 2nd most polarizing song is leaving now!! .indulgecountry had a close guess by predicting this to be the most polarizing one. He also becomes the second person to lose #3, while 3 participants also lost their top 5s. On the other hand, 3 participants got rid of their #12s as well! CLD's ThoughtI knew this would be a polarizing one! This song is quite catchy, and I like the lyrics. However, I don't like the key of this song, especially the chorus. If it was different, I would have totally enjoyed this more!

"King of Apology" is such a great country ROMP. I love the hillbilly vibe that it gives off. It has so much more personality than any of the other uptempos on the record, save for "I Hope It Rains."

#6 Over You by Now
The most polarizing song is leaving! Three of us ranked this in their bottom 3, while the other three ranked this in their top 3! castleoblivion26 becomes the first one to lose #1, while HeyHeyHey and Tylerjamesnerd got rid of their #12. CLD's ThoughtThis song is another great slow song in this album. The chorus melody is very strong and memorable, even after comparing with other strong songs, and I would say this could have been a good radio single as well. A little surprised that this ended up becoming the most polarizing one, and that two of us put this at #12.

That top 5 is so strong. Shocked that Over You By Now was so polarizing. I expected it would’ve been in the top 5 (in the place of Only When You’re Lonely). Her team did a great job with ballads on this album but the up tempos were just so generic. Looking forward to finishing this up tomorrow! Thanks, CLD.

#5 When You're Lonely
Kicking off the second reveal day with "When You're Lonely". This is the first song without any bottom three ranks. Tylerjamesnerd put this in his #1, and 3 of us, including myself, got a perfect ranking. CLD's ThoughtAnother great mid-tempo ballad album track on the album. This one has a slightly stronger chorus melody than Over You by Now, and would have been a great radio single as well. I ranked this higher than Over You by Now, as OYBN has a great chorus melody with okay verse, while this one has a great mood overall + lyrics are quite strong.

"What I Love About Your Love" got SCREWED! What a fantastically catchy little tune!! Shameful how it got tanked here.
I'm also bummed, but not surprised, that "King of Apology" couldn't sneak into the top 5 here. Jam! I know it could have done worse than 7, but still.

#4 I Won't Give Up
The last album track is leaving here, and .indulgecountry and LBTrocks were right to predict that the top 3 would be the singles. This song was co-written by Kramer, and included in the album as a digital bonus track. This song was well liked overall, but looks like wasn't bboat11's cup of tea. CLD's ThoughtYeah, I knew this was gonna be my #1, and glad that this ended up becoming the best album track of the RD. This song has a such a beautiful melody, and definitely my favourite ballad song by Jana. The entire song flows beautifully well with Jana's vocal, and the instrumental production is impeccable. Very strong song! Interestingly enough, my favourite album tracks tend to do well in my own RD (I Am Too by Runaway June, MGNO by Dickerson, and Another Day Gone by Parmalee were the best album tracks in each RD).

Predictable top 3 is predictable.
2 of them belong there... 1 does not.

#3 I Hope It Rains
The first single to leave is "I Hope It Rains". 9 of us put this in their top 3, but clearly this wasn't castleoblivion26 's cup of rain. CLD's ThoughtSad that this is leaving now... This is my favourite single from this era, and the best uptempo song in the album. I love its catchy chorus melody and I found the lyrics to be quite funny. Very unfortunate that it was not successful as a radio single.

UGH I'm hoping no one tanked "Whiskey" so it can win over the horrid "Why Ya Wanna"
"I Hope It Rains" is absolutely amazing. The melody is fantastic and Jana sounds awesome on it! This is the type of female country I just ADORE! Reminds me of the stuff I listened to in the mid 2000s!

BTW, I know I said that WYW was the only Jana song I hated, but I low-key forgot "Said No One Ever" exists so it's actually 1 of 2 lmao.

#2 Why Ya Wanna
#1 Whiskey
And this is it! The battle of the 2 singles were brought to the end by the vote by LBTrocks , as you can see on the graph. Why Ya Wanna is the biggest radio hit by Jana in the US, while the follow-up single Whiskey only made it to early 20s on the chart. CLD's ThoughtSo I definitely like Why Ya Wanna more here. It is a catchy song with strong chorus melody. It is not the best thing that Jana did, but it's definitely one of her signature materials, and it's always in my playlist. Still curious to know what made LBTrocks hate this so much that he put it at the bottom of the list, like was it secretly written by High Vally/ZBB? For Whiskey, I'm the only one who didn't rank it in the top 5, and I still think it is the weakest single of the three. It has a decent lyrics and melody, but I just didn't find it to be strong and memorable. I would have preferred I Won't Give Up or When You're Lonely as a radio single.

The vocal arrangement on the chorus of "Why Ya Wanna" is DREADFUL! WHYYAWANNA SHOWUPINA old t-shirt that I love, WHYYAGOTTA TELLMETHATIM looking goodYeah no thanks. The verse is at least just meh but the chorus is something else. I thought Jana was going to be terrible based on that song, but luckily I loved everything else she released after. She's so authentically country too. I adore her, but have never warmed up to WYW. I'm glad I was able to cost it a win here lol. "Whiskey" on the other hand is an amazing country tune with a fantastic melody and lyric! So glad it was able to win here!! Thanks for hosting 🌺CountryLineDancer
