I still love their cover of Dwight Yoakam's Fast As You a lot. It also fit their persona nicely.

Really? This was such a nice closer to the album. I liked this more than one of their singles for sure.

“Blue Roses” is hauntingly beautiful. The harmonies, ugh...

Very happy to see my bottom 3 as the bottom 3 here, albeit in different order. Those 3 songs are all solid, but they're like a half-step below the rest of their catalog for me. "Blue Roses" has often been talked about like it was one of their best songs so I am pretty surprised to see it out this early tbh! That said, I land on the side that finds it merely okay. The harmonies on it are indeed wonderful, but the song itself is just not the most interesting and has less replay value for me than "I Am Too," "Wild West," and "We Were Rich," which are superior and more melodically catchy ballads. ETA: Yay @ "I Am Too" being the top non-single as I predicted (and hoped for)!!

Is the only album track left "I Am Too" going to beat some singles...?
I sure hope so! "I Am Too" is waaaaay better than "We Were Rich" and "Buy My Own Drinks", at minimum lol.

PERFECT top 6 to this rankdown! Can't believe y'all let "I Am Too" out before some of the singles though... I almost put that as my #1, it's THAT good.

IntermissionNatalie Stovall and The Drive - Baby Come On With It
The former band of RJ's newest member Natalie Stovall. I believe this was the only song that made it to Country Airplay Chart. (I enjoy Heartbreak more than this)

Two posters seriously put this LAST out of their songs?! Meaning below "Fast as You" and "Good, Bad & Ugly"? Okay...

Before I go, 2 songs are tying, so the one with higher standard deviation goes first.

Ooo, pleased to see "Buy My Own Drinks" being the first single to leave!!! It is very obviously an attempt to go a more commercial direction to get a hit, and lacks all the magic that makes their other music so great. I do still enjoy it, but it just doesn't compare to any of the other singles imo.
I always have a more favorable impression of "We Were Rich" at the start of the song than I do at the end. For some reason it always loses my interest once the chorus hits. It'll still do very well on my 2021 year-end list, because I like it a lot! Just not quite as much as I usually like their stuff :)

Only Head Over Heels is left for a song from the album!
Are we going to lose all songs from the album...? This is a tough question! My initial prediction was that "Wild West" and "Lipstick" would be the top 2, but tbh the more I think about it the more I could see "Head Over Heels" hanging out and "Lipstick" getting the boot... It'll be interesting to see, for sure! I'll be happy with any outcome with these three songs though, tbh My top 3 is the top 3! Hoping for "Wild West" to win... Edit: Oh wait, I guess "Blue Roses" was my #3. So I have 1, 2, and 4 left!

I know that “We Were Rich” has its fans, but it has never screamed hit to me like it does to others. That said, I hope it does well for them as their music is so incredibly refreshing to hear on country radio.

I had a gut feeling that both “Lipstick” and “Wild West” would land somewhere in the top 3, so I’m not entirely surprised (or disappointed for that matter). I certainly admit that I was rather late in coming around to this group, but they’ve really won me over and I quite appreciate their output more now than I did even a year ago.
With that said, “Head Over Heels” FTW!

I enjoy "Buy My Own Drinks" a lot, so I'm sad to see it out already. The only song I think has overstayed is "Lipstick" as I've never really been a fan of it. I did enjoy it more than I ever have previously though
