I knew...what? I, too, thought "Play Something Country" had this. I didn't even try to tank it for cryin' out loud!

SO incredibly happy with how this top 5 turned out!!!! I may have overranked "Believe" slightly with my #2 rank, but this is one I have been feeling more in recent years than I did back when it was a single. Mostly because as I got older and more into vocals I got a sense for just how incredible Ronnie's performance is here. Seeing this out at #5 is fine with me. "She's About As Lonely" is such a great song! (Lmao wtf are you doing ClevelandRox 😂) Like that "while she sorts out why Mr. Right did her wrong" lyric that kicks off the chorus is particularly memorable, and features the clever yet simple turns of phrase that make all the country classics so great. I could totally hear this one being a hit on the radio, and I look forward to seeing how it does in the album tracks rd! Like I said, "Building Bridges" is one that has always grated on me, so if single bias couldn't carry "Believe" into the top 2, I'm also happy that it didn't take this one there either. "Play Something Country" is one that I could see rubbing people the wrong way, but I have always enjoyed it!!! There is no question that I would hate it in the hands of some other male artists, like Jason Aldean or Luke Bryan, but Ronnie Dunn is a more charismatic vocalist than average, and he has always sold this one really well. And that brings us to the winner Holy crap!!! I was NOT expecting "Again" to actually pull this off!!! I love how I even made a joke yesterday about how much I would love for this to happen even though I knew it never would 😂 This song just has a chorus melody that hits me in all the right ways. I also have a lot of nostalgia for it because back when I was in middle school and getting into iTunes for the first time, this one randomly came on a lot when I would listen to my library on shuffle. I'm so happy with this unexpected finish!!! And I'm really excited to see which albums we do next

It’s always a bit surprising when the opposite result happens in an album rankdown compared to the artists singles rankdown. Case in point, “Believe” leaving first in the top five here versus coming out ahead of “Building Bridges” in the singles rankdown. There’s certain religious-themed songs that I enjoy, but this has never been one of them. I will say that I do appreciate the message behind it and therefore understand why many of you can relate to it. Overall, the top five here was quite unpredictable as there was no way of guessing an album track would go on to win this. I consider “Play Something Country” to more or less be a guilty pleasure as I can understand why someone may not like it. “Again” is a great song and makes for a great winner. It would’ve been interesting to see how this would’ve performed as a single. Excited to see what the next two albums will be castleoblivion26 !

Sounds like you need to listen to our winner again!!!! I don't need to listen to a song I hate again. I don't even dislike "Again" but I am also very disappointed by this outcome tbh. I thought that the lead single would surely and rightfully have this one in the bag. Sad to see.

Lmao isn't Tight Rope the album where Kix and Ronnie famously didn't even work with each other to make it? They just each kinda did their own thing in different places, recorded the songs they each wanted to, and then threw it all together into an album?

Then we will jump forward to their 6th studio album Tight Rope, which is also their final 90s record! This album was one of their least successful albums, only spawning one top ten hit in "You'll Always Be Loved By Me", and two minor top 20 hits in "Beer Thirty" and their cover of "Missing You"! How will this album do, and will the reception be better for this album than it was for Hillbilly Deluxe?
Based on the strength of these singles, it's absolutely going to be a better album than Hillbilly Deluxe!! I'm excited to dive in! "You'll Always Be Loved By Me" and "Missing You" are both underrated af!

"I'm No Good" is such a fitting title for a Kix Brooks song

"I'm No Good" is such a fitting title for a Kix Brooks song I'm not here for the Kix shade! I know a lot of y'all don't seem to care for his vocals and he certainly doesn't have the range that Ronnie does, but with the right song it works. "Lost and Found" happens to be one of those songs and is one that I consider to be right up there as one of their all-time classic hits (same goes for "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone").

This album is really strong though and I am excited to hear what you all have to say about the non-singles!

This was the obvious and correct bottom 3. I actually *didn't* hate any of these, which automatically places them above like 75% of the last album we ranked from them that was mostly dogshit.

There is #6 which means our Top is unsurprisingly the 5 singles! Which will leave us first? Find out tomorrow as both #5 and #4 are tied and will be revealed at the same time!

No matter how the bottom five played out, the top five songs are at least the correct ones! I would've been floored had any one of them exited before then. I'm fully expecting "Neon Moon" to be the runaway winner here, so with hat here's my predictions:
5. My Next Broken Heart 4. Lost and Found 3. Boot Scootin' Boogie 2. Brand New Man 1. Neon Moon
I'd only say that #3 and #4 could still go either way and I'm hoping for the opposite outcome of my own prediction.

The singles from this era were iconic so no surprise there. One of their best eras at radio, hands down.

Yeah that bottom half was just about perfect! I mean, four perfect rankings to kick things off is about as perfect as it could get, lol! I do love the melody of "I've Got A Lot To Learn", so that threw a slight wrench in my perfect streak, but it's also expected because the singles were the obvious top 5. To me that one sounds like a hit though, so I'm glad to see it be the top ranked album track.
I'm hoping "Boot Scootin' Boogie" and "Lost And Found" are fighting it out for the tie, because "My Next Broken Heart" deserves to be higher than them (even though they're all incredible), but I see no scenario in which "Brand New Man" and "Neon Moon" aren't the top 2, lol.
