"Give It Up or Let Me Go" was on track to finish in last place from the start where it garnered a whopping NINE last place rankings. This accumulated six more bottom 2s as well as three bottom 3 rankings. It did manage to get some support as both @greento and jenglisbe put this in their top 5. Unfortunately recordyear loses a top two ranking right out of the gate. This song was originally recorded by Bonnie Raitt in 1972 for her second studio album Give It Up.

IMAGINE thinking this is their weakest album, and then putting "Give It Up Or Let Me Go" at #2.......

I like every song on the album, so frankly I'd complain about nearly any song finishing #12...but I am upset about this placement lol.

It was the only correct option for last place.

I only really dislike one song and my #12 will likely not come up for a while and I'll probably get some crap for it when it does lol
"Give It Up and Let Me Go" was the right choice for last place. That song is a bit of a mess on the production side, I did like it well enough but compared to everything else its the weakest
ETA: "I'll Take Care Of You" was alright but rather sleepy as well. Belonged near the bottom

So while this entire album is great, "Give It Up Or Let Me Go" was a super easy last place for me. It is super repetitive, and the exaggerated twang that Natalie puts on is actually kinda annoying here. Also, the melody and whole song structure is simplistic to a fault, because this is one of those songs that literally only exists to let the band have solos. This is the type of song you use as a warm-up in high school jazz band, where there is a simple blues head that the whole group plays together, and then everyone takes turns soloing over the same 12 bars until everyone has had a chance to solo, and then you play the head all together one more time before ending the song.

4. Which songs will be in the bottom 3? and probably "I'll Take Care Of You".....although that one is gonna kill me when it leaves My condolences go out to bboat11 as "I'll Take Care of You" is our next song to leave which rounds out the bottom two. He loses a top five ranking with this and was also joined there by taylor. Unfortunately jenglisbe joins recordyear and becomes our second participant to lose a top two. Much like the first song to exit, once this settled into the bottom two it was never able to regain its footing as it never managed to pick up enough support to move the needle. Seven participants lose a bottom two ranking including ccarter1023 and fearlessarrow who lose their last place. This song is also a cover and was first recorded by the late Kenny Rogers in 1982 for his thirteenth studio album Love Will Turn You Around.

I figured this one would leave early, but it hurts a lot, just like I said it would!
"I'll Take Care Of You"'s biggest flaw is that it is on such a stacked album. The amount of leftover real estate dries up reeeeaaaal quick once you take the singles and the more iconic album tracks out of the picture. I figured this one didn't have a path out of the bottom 3.
But damn it, Natalie's vocal is so beautiful here!!! The way those verse lines ascend into head voice gets stuck in my mind so badly, and the chorus is filled with incredible belted harmonies that are like sweet honey to the eardrums. Nowadays it has more replay value for me than at least 4 of the 5 singles here, lmao.

I knew y'all were itching to get this started, so I wanted to make sure to reveal the first two songs which likely didn't come as much of a surprise to most. I'm going to pause there for now and if I have a chance I'll swing back around later this evening to reveal a few more songs. If not, I'll pick right back up where we left off tomorrow!

IMAGINE thinking this is their weakest album, and then putting "Give It Up Or Let Me Go" at #2....... Never said this is their weakest album lmao. Y'all need to read again :x Anyway this song is quite refreshing from a listen experience standpoint. I probably won't rank this so high if there are not so many non-descript ballads such as the #11 before this.

"Never Say Die" is our third cover in a row from the album to exit consecutively. This was able to sneak into the top five early on thanks to the first of six top five rankings from ClevelandRox . That was followed by a second top five from bboat11 which brought this to its highest peaking position of #4. It quickly settled back though as it picked up its first of two last place rankings from gardyfan and myself. This more or less hovered in and around the bottom three for the remainder of its run making this the second least polarizing song of the rankdown. This was originally written and recorded by fellow Texan and Austinite Radney Froster for his 1995 album Labor of Love. I'm partial to his version personally as the one by the Chicks has just never clicked with me.

"Let 'Er Rip" departs us next and along with it four of the participants lose their bottom ranking song. Despite this picking up and handful of top five support, it was just never quite able to escape the bottom four as it got weighted down by the nine participants who put this in their bottom two.
I've personally always quite enjoyed this song and whenever I revisit the album this is always a must listen for me. I also have a fond memory of seeing them perform this live back in 1999 on George Strait's Country Music Festival stadium tour.

There is no good reason I should have to be so alone I'm smothered by this emptiness, Lord I wish I was made of stone Like a fool I lent my soul to love and it paid me back in change
A heart that's worn and weathered would know better than to fight But I wore mine like a weapon, played out love like a crime And it wrung me out and strung me out And it hung years on my face 8. âAm I the Only One (Whoâs Ever Felt This Way)â Track: #11 Songwriters: Maria McKee Total: 217 Average: 7.48 Std Dev: 3.16 (2nd Highest!) {Songs Remaining}I Can Love You Better Loving Arms Once Youâve Loved Somebody Thereâs Your Trouble Tonight the Heartacheâs on Me Wide Open Spaces You Were Mine
