And I don't think that's only because racists are supporting him now because if that was the case "Fake Woke" would have slayed the Apple Music and Spotify streaming charts when it was #1 on itunes.

He will obviously be hurt because radio basically removed his music but I don't think his album is going to drop like a rock.

I have to assume radio and playlist curators were expecting a widespread consumer revolt, which would have made it a no brainer to go ahead and strip his songs from rotation. This doesn't seem to be a big deal outside of niche internet spaces though. There's still a lot of uncertainty here, but I think it's safe to say he has lost very little in terms of his fanbase, so whether or not his career is successful from here seems to depend on whether or not the industry wants to keep up their "principled stance" in spite of the money being lost. I guess that's the reason why his label suspended his recording contract rather than dropping him, they wanted to wait and see if the backlash would be enough to tank his career.

Much of his fan base thinks it's acceptable to say that word, so no surprise he didn't lose many fans.

I've been intrigued by "positions" staying fairly stable because it's still losing a lot of spins (over 900 between Top 40 and Rhythmic). It's gaining a bit at Hot AC, so it must be gaining at big stations there giving it impressions.

Bad callouts have way more power than good ones. Miley had amazing scores with "Midnight Sky" and it still died before it even approached top 10.

Why did it take over 24 hours for Morgan’s songs to post big gains on streaming (both Spotify and AM)? You’d think with previous days of artists getting boosts like when XXXTENTACION and Juice WRLD died the effects would be fairly immediate.

My assumption is that for the GP, it takes longer for news of cancellation to travel than death. You don't get an alert on CNN et al when someone fucks up. You do when a famous musician dies.

The AC radio format is so slow to transition to newer songs that almost all songs (except Don't Start Now) listed among the current callouts actually have increases in spins during the last 7 days.
