Looking back at her discography and I do NOT remember "Today was a Fairytale" and it went to #2...

Looking back at her discography and I do NOT remember "Today was a Fairytale" and it went to #2... A classic high-debuting one-off single with no longevity. I happen to adore the song and still listen to it but it’s objectively one of her worse. She actually performed it at the Grammys the year Fearless won AOTY

That's a bummer but they obviously wouldn't change the rule for her (even though they should have ).

Well if you look on the bright side more Hot 100 hits and Billboard 200 chart-toppers (hopefully) for her!

Damn can she snatch the record for most #1 albums if that happens... if she hits #1 with each re-release... that’s kind of exciting. Also kind of nerve wrecking if one of them doesn’t hit #1. I hope the label is ready to play the chart game.

I forgot all about the “TWAF” part. Probably because it’s one of my least favorite Swift songs.

Correct; she performed TWaFT (lmao at that abbreviation), then said something like, “It’s a fairytale and an honor to be joined onstage by Stevie Nicks!” And then they did YBWM together with a little bit of a Stevie joint (maybe it was Rhiannon?). But yes anyway you’re remembering right

They’re likely packing a million songs into each album to increase the available tracks to stream to get the #1. Can’t hate her for playing the game.

While you might be right, I also think the reason why she’s including bonus songs is because she want to ensure that not just her fans but the general public would feel the incentive to choose her re-recordings over the original ones.

I think if the label is smart, they release during quieter weeks, make sure to have the physicals and vinyls read to ship week 1, and continue to add the 6 bonus songs for max streaming. Taylor could easily do 100k with each release, as long as they play their cards right. Also hoping they give some time between each release. Us fans love her but we’re not made of money. Give me time to save up my expendable money before you release the next one.

The Vinyls won't ship until august I think so no chance of those counting for the release week. I am hoping they will release at least another couple of songs before the album drops to increase hype, possibly You Belong With Me and an original ?

Theory time because Taylor Swift loves to do this to us and I was thinking of this while I was eating breakfast.
So you know how reputation actually can't be redone until November 2022 (the albums have to be 5 years old)? And you know how Taylor (with the exception of reputation) used to do every two years between an album release? And you know how Taylor had been contemplating saving folklore for 2021 to continue that? evermore was a fluke, a side B, a second chapter, an expansion to folklore...what will be TS10 wouldn't have come out until 2023.
Well...I think that's true. I believe Taylor's Version itself is going to be treated as any other album era, so that there's no gaps between re-recording the first five albums and re-recording rep. That means we're likely going to get the first five albums spread out through 2021 AND 2022, with at least one new song from the Vault released as a single from each studio album, through reputation (Taylor's Version), which would come out in 2023, likely around the time right now when we're getting Fearless (Taylor's Version). Just think--if you exclude folklore/evermore, which were projects born from what 2020 became and probably wouldn't have happened otherwise...Lover was 2019, Taylor's Version began in 2021...the TS10 era begins late 2023, bringing us back to the regularly scheduled programming.
Oh and PS...before she begins the TS10 era, I think once she's gained ownership of each studio album, she'll end this Taylor's Version era by finally giving us her greatest hits compilation.
This is guesswork but she plans this kind of s**t out far in advance so it's educated guesswork. Feel free to bookmark this post. :kii:

Honestly maybe she’ll take 2023 off after working at top speed for 4 years without pause

I assume that reputation is still charting this week, which means that Taylor has 7 albums on the Billboard 200 this week! That is a new best for her, and she may top it next week as Speak Now has a good chance of re-entering. It's been top 100 on Apple Music for most of the week (currently #105). All of her albums are in the top 200 on Apple Music. Next week, she could have 5 albums in the top 50 - evermore, folklore, Fearless, Lover, and 1989. This is going to be a HUGE year for Taylor on the Billboard 200!

This is going to be a HUGE year for Taylor on the Billboard 200! Really impressive that they were able to chart with just Thursday's half day stream boost (from the re-recordings announcement - ie doesn't even include the much bigger boost from the actual release of Love Story Taylor's Version). I'm fairly confident Speak Now will re-enter. I even wonder what Self-Titled's consumption will be like, the Spotify streams for it are much lower than her others albums', but presumably much more local to the US, and it was doing relatively well on Apple Music. I don't think it will re-enter, but still wondering how close it came and whether the release of Fearless Taylor's Version would be enough to get it to re-enter.

Chartdata on Twitter reported that Fearless was up by 32%, but Red was only up by 10%. That means Red was very close to charting even without the announcement (and I suspect it's been just outside the Billboard 200 for some time now). I also wonder about the debut since it's been top 200 on AM all week. I think it's not impossible it could chart next week but I am not betting on it. If nothing else it will probably chart when she announces and/or releases her version of the debut. And I agree, it's streams are probably very US-heavy.

Those would end up being part of the “Red” era wouldn’t they? Seems like she’s really releasing every single song in her discography so I would assume so. If she's releasing the standalone songs as part of the "eras" when they were originally dropped then the Hunger Games tracks would be dropped with Speak Now. But she probably recorded them during the early sessions for Red... so who knows. "Today Was a Fairytale" was written all the way back in 2008 (probably towards the end of the recording process for Fearless), and recorded during the early Speak Now sessions, but scrapped from the tracklist because it didn't fit. What about "Crazier" - you cant even listen to this song on Apple Music rn. Ridiculous.

Red's been charting in the lower reaches of the Rolling Stone Album charts for the past year or something, usually very close to reputation which also re-entered a few weeks ago, so yeah, I think Red was very close for a long time. It seems like Rolling Stone's methodology favours Taylor's albums a bit more.

I don't know if the Hannah Monatana album being on another label presents more issues for any potential rerecording of that song.

I wonder how she’ll treat the songs with guest artists. I’m probably most excited for Safe and Sound tbh. Up until the Lover era, that was probably my favourite TS song.

The Taylor’s version artwork keeps reverting to the original on my Apple Music and it’s driving me nuts. I even deleted the old album and any singles from my library, re-added the new version and still after about five minutes the old artwork is back.

I deleted the old artwork and downloaded, added the new. It’s ridiculous but it hasn’t changed since.
