A modernized Greco-Shakespearean tragedy-type album, constructed into three “acts,” with influences ranging from Bill Withers to Daft Punk to Sade to The Eagles? I’ll take ten.
Wonderful piece, start to finish. So intrigued by what’s to come from this record.

One of my most anticipated albums of the year and I wasn't even as into GH as much as everyone else (I stand by the version of Neon Moon with her as her best song to date.)

I think I'm all alone on this thought... but I do not want Kacey to dive further into the pop sound. If anything, I would love for the Pageant Material sound to make a return (although that will never happen). I just think that Kacey had created such a distictive, unique lane in country that no one else could have taken, and now she's veering off into pop which is.... oversaturated and uninspiring. I love her for her country music and the roots of hers that shine through in her first two records.
Is is just me, or does someone else feel the same?

I think I'm all alone on this thought... but I do not want Kacey to dive further into the pop sound. If anything, I would love for the Pageant Material sound to make a return (although that will never happen). I just think that Kacey had created such a distictive, unique lane in country that no one else could have taken, and now she's veering off into pop which is.... oversaturated and uninspiring. I love her for her country music and the roots of hers that shine through in her first two records. Is is just me, or does someone else feel the same? I mean, I'd definitely be disappointed if she gave us a straight up pop album, but I don't think that's going to happen. It sounds like she's experimenting exploring some new sounds/styles in this upcoming album, but I'd be surprised if it still doesn't fit in the country genre. The only song on Golden Hour that I wouldn't describe as a country song is "High Horse" - everything else, while some being unique, still are very much modern country. I think having her first two records being more traditional country sounding is likely what you're referring to though, and while I love love love those albums too, I definitely want her to continue in the direction Golden Hour took her in. It was such a fresh, unique sound that catered to fans of country, pop, alternative, americana/folk, and more. I definitely want her to capitalize on that with her upcoming release. |

Especially after hearing her on Troye Sivan's "Easy" remix, produced by Mark Ronson, I want her to explore other sounds more than ever. And since country radio and listeners aren't embracing her as much as they should, while spamming Gabby Coney Barrett and Morgan Wallen, I don't think she should make an effort to sound more "traditionally country."
Looking at how she described it, I wouldn't be too worried about her "going pop," though. She basically listed different guitar styles in that tweet — Beck, 70's soft rock (Fleetwood Mac), Spanish guitar, and even early 2000's pop/r&b having that in common. So I doubt she'll do anything drastically more pop or anything that's even half as bold of a move as "Easy."

This is such an amazing point to bring up! I will support Kacey in absolutely anything she does and I trust her artistic vision. She's always found a zone that wasn't taken and made it her own which is what I admire so much about her. So if she can incorporate a variety of influences and still make it country-centric, which I hope believe she will then I'm all for it. I just don't want a Red/1989-type of rerouting! Because she did say "You can take me out of the country, but you can't take the country outta me" |

Whatever that means... hopefully soon lol There was an article about what upcoming album releases each label has coming up and Kacey was (obviously) mentioned for UMG. This account is just acting like this was brand new information despite there being absolutely nothing new to report on. |

I noticed that too! I don't remember signing up for a text alert for her, but once I noticed the # was her bday, it made me feel like it was legit haha |

I hope we get a single this month - it feels like they have been teasing this album for ages and I would like to be able to hear it before the end of 2021. Also I need to listen to that podcast because the premise sound great

For the way Kacey talks about “Star-Crossed” in that latest interview (how two people love each other so much but even the universe is against them, or something like that), I can’t imagine her NOT releasing something during Leo season since she’s so into that astrology stuff. “Star-crossed” is what inspired the theme of this album and it’s rumored to be the title of the album too, so I just think we are at least getting that song by her birthday.
