I see Dierks held onto this token Male Vocalist nod. Single of the Year being all women is pretty awesome to see. I’m pretty sure Morgan was nominated for it and it fell to Dierks

The Cadillac Three?? What? Hahaha For real. Atleast Runaway June has a single being pushed.

I don’t care about Cadillac 3, but didn’t they release two albums in 2020? Their nom is warranted.
RE: no Carrie in Female, it was bound to happen eventually. Not a bad thing for it to happen after a year where she didn’t release anything to country.
RE: all dudes in EOTY, I really don’t get it. In the one year where literally *everyone* was on the same playing field because touring was MIA, there’s even less of an excuse for this to happen than ever before. I’m tired of seeing “Maren Morris leads pack with X nominations” at all of these shows, but she’s wildly shrugged out of even making it to the second round of ballots for EOTY consideration.

Single of the Year being all women is what we need to start seeing more of. Incredible job with that category. Not that it’s not good to have all women in the category, but I don’t really think it’s beneficial to have only all women or men nominated for a single category. It should be just the best singles no matter male or female. If the best singles in a given year are all by females then so be it, but the way you imply it, women shouldn’t be nominated just to have more women nominees. Most of the nominees are solid this year, but surprised to not see Got What I Got in this category.

I'm so thrilled with Mickey's nomination, but I also found it odd to have her nominated again when she was already nominated for New Female back in 2016. I know she can be nominated again, but the gap is just interesting. Well-deserved though and I hope she perfoms in the awards night.

It’s ass backwards to have Single/Song/Album full of women, yet not even one of them considered for Entertainer. They gave Carrie half the award last time, and that’ll carry them over into the 2030s probably, smh...

Just looked over the nominees again and guess I overlooked it the first time, but how did Die From a Broken Heart not get a nomination??

It’s pretty obvious Dierks Bentley MAOY was Morgan’s....I would have preferred Sam Hunt got that nom instead. Dierks has not done anything up until a month or so ago.

Carly graduating from New Female to Female category is very deserved and I am glad to see it happen even if I’m not her biggest fan.
How the hell did Ingrid get the Single nod and not the Song nod?? Those should be swapped LOL. I expect “The Bones” to win Single so I would have loved Ingrid to snag song!
Carrie had a bigger year than just radio and I think you can argue she should be in there over Ashley this time, but not Carly. Also, Kelsea deserves! Miranda will win (and should).
I like the nominees in just about all categories honestly. Cadillac Three deserved over Rascal Flatts just so we didn’t have to hear them perform.

Does Miranda really need to win it again? I’d love nothing more than to hear any other name than Miranda’s called. It seems pointless to FINALLY bring a new batch of ladies into the category just to award the winningest veteran - who has about 2-3 more than she probably should. Not saying she doesn’t deserve, and a Miranda win would be justified... but like, come on.

I don’t see why Miranda or Maren wouldn’t win it this year. Kelsea’s year was great, but didn’t carry the same sizable hit that ML or MM had. I don’t currently see either Ashley or Carly being strong enough competitors for the award, though Carly’s brand-new EP being released to such strong critical acclaim could help her out in the upcoming vote.

FAOTY is Miranda (simply for "Bluebird" alone) or Maren (the crossover smash "The Bones")...perhaps Carly (on the strength of "I Hope You're Happy Now" and that whole album) or Kelsea ("hole in the bottle" which just became a #1; as well as the incredible ballerini edition of her self-titled) have compelling cases, but I'll be stunned if it's not Miranda or Maren.
Again tho, all five of these women are incredible and (imo) equally deserving this year.

Hmm, disappointed to see Carrie not get a nomination despite the fact in years pasts they've nominated and even awarded FVoTY to people in an 'off year's.
That being said, the Christmas album was a huge success and should've warranted her a nomination. But I guess they just ignored it.

If anything, it looks like there was an effort to recognize her despite the lack of country music given she’s nominated at all.... literally for a non-country Christmas song. In a year when there are more viable nominees than slots for Female, I’ll take the “Video” nom - as it’s reason enough for Carrie to show up and maybe even perform.

I just struggle to see who you swap out for Carrie Underwood as all 5 of the women nominated had really strong years in country music. Not that Carrie Underwood didn't but she is a pretty comfortable 6th this past year out of all the women in country music.

Gut instinct tells me Ashley McBryde (Kacey would replace her) and probably Kelsea Ballerini (Carrie would replace her), maybe Gabby Barrett gets thrown in the mix same with Ingrid Andress if "Lady Like" gets enough traction. It is just refreshing to have the female category be competitive in terms of who gets in and who is out

EOTY: Really a travesty not a single woman here while the women dominate the rest of the categories. Like previously said in the thread, nominations could have been thrown at truly ANYONE this year since there's been no touring. Sigh. I suppose it doesn't matter too much because everyone knows it's going to Luke Combs. And it rightfully should - I can't think of anyone else that should get it. I will say the lack of Maren Morris nominated here or even making second round tells me that she is going to have trouble being nominated for this category in the future. I sense future frustration in that realm specifically.
MALE: Nothing special going on here. All of it makes sense. Wish Kane Brown would have snuck in over Dierks.
FEMALE: Carrie shocked me. And I know arguments have been made... but I am almost sort of relieved to see that the category is becoming more fluid. I would like to continue seeing Carrie and Miranda not be nominated here during off years. Weirdly enough I am hoping Kelsea takes the win. I know that seems farfetched, but I have been so impressed by her double album release + front facing presence during 2020. I would especially love Carly to sneak a win... I know we don't know who gets 2nd or 3rd place, but I really think 29 coming out could put her close to taking the win.
ALBUM: I'm glad Kane Brown got nominated for SOMETHING, but Album really was a weird place for that to happen. Luke Bryan's does not belong here whatsoever. I hope this is Ashley's to win.
SINGLE: Love all the women. Literally any of these could win and it would be warranted. I'm thinking it has to be "The Bones". Sad that DFABH got snubbed from both Single and Song, it deserved at least one of them.
SONG: No clue here. All of these are great choices but I could easily see "The Bones" sweeping both categories.
NEW MALE: This seems like Jimmie Allen's to lose. His only real competition seems to be Cody Johnson.
NEW FEMALE: Total toss up between Gabby, Ingrid, and Mickey. I think it would be a shame if Gabby never wins any of the New Artist awards because I think we're going to see her continue to rise and rise... but, seeing how the ACM picked Tenille Townes last year, my gut tells me Ingrid or Mickey will take it. My vote is Mickey. (Glad she was nominated, I forgot she still had another year).
EVENT: Probably will go to IHYHN but I selfishly want "One Beer" so Lauren Alaina can snag a win.

I find it quite humorous that Brooks And Dunn are nominated for duo of the year, yet I can't think of another duo that could be in there.

I don’t think Guyton should’ve been nominated. I love her voice, but honestly why?. If they counted Canada I would’ve nominated MacKenzie Porter. She’s charting very well on Canada charts.

The Kane Brown album of the year nomination is absurd (for starts it's not an album, for seconds it's pretty terrible) I'm pretty okay with the other nominees in that category. Ashely's is obviously great and should win. Chris, Brothers Osbourne, and even Luke Bryans are solid
but Ingrid... or Cam.... or Caylee Hammack.... or The Chicks all would have been WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better choices than fucking Kane Brown. and that's without me getting into the plethora of indie options

stanches2318 I will only reply to this once, but here are a few reasons why Mickey Guyton deserves her nomination and would deserve the win, and should subsequently be nominated for CMA New Artist this fall. - "What Are You Gonna Tell Her?" standing ovation at CRS - Release and success of "Black Like Me" during nationwide BLM protests - Release and success of "Drunk and I Miss You" - Release of Bridges EP - Nomination at the Grammy Awards - One of the most front-facing artists in all of country music during 2020, including TV performances, New York Times, articles, etc.

While I understand that Guyton is not a new artist, I can’t even fathom why, especially after the last year that we’ve seen unfold in country music (and ESPECIALLY the last month alone), anyone is going to nitpick at the chance for her to get some long-overdue hardware.
With that being said, I think these shows needs to have both a New Artist award, and a Breakthrough Artist award. Seems like people who aren’t necessarily new continue to get nominated in these categories, despite years of being not-totally-off-the-radar (i.e. Guyton, Lauren Alaina, etc.).

I love that idea, many artists kill it during their debut, others find success a couple albums in. Awarding debut artists separately from “new” artists makes a lot of sense. Especially in the digital/streaming age when artists are finding superstardom much more randomly and through methods that aren’t necessarily tied to an album, in the classic sense.

I looked back at the country publications when the 2nd round of nominations began. Some of the ads in them were surprising for who made the cut. I don't think Luke or Kane had good albums, but I would never say Jimmie Allen's album is deserving either of an Album of the Year consideration which apparently made the 2nd ballot.

A Breakthrough category (nongenered) would be great. I would have love to see Brandy Clark nominated for something, but these were decent nominees.

Is there a limit on how many times you can be nominated on New Female/Male Artist? I was just thinking if Gabby, Ingrid and Caylee can be nominated again next year if they don't win?
