It’s interesting because it’s possible that they just recorded a cover of it and their label did stuff with it and people just picked up on it. Artists record random covers all the time and I’m sure most don’t do it with ill intent or believe theirs are in any way superior or an improvement. As much as the song has probably made them known, I’m sure it’s also gotten them a lot of flack unfortunately.

I'm no fan of the cover, but I do respect that at least he seemed to connect with the song from what I've read, and that Corinne Bailey Rae gave it her blessing despite Ritt Momney's admittance that it's inferior to her original. It's just that once again, the music industry has f**ked up and made a song that had no business being a radio hit bigger than it frankly should have been for the sake of their own capitalist greed.

No thanks to streaming or making a TikTok for any version of PYRO. I'd much rather that happen with 34+35 so it can get a late push to #1.

I've got mixed feelings on which PYRO is better - I like Corrine Bailey Rae's singing better, but the production on Ritt Momney's version is weird enough that I have to appreciate it for that. And her version feels slower. Both are good, though, IMO.

Also it’s so weird to me how both Abel and Bruno’s 2018/2019 was so non existent and filled with loose featured cuts and now they’re dominating the 2020s as if they never left (ik this is future tense for Bruno’s case but ik he’ll be more than fine for this era unless its a JB or JT situation).

I think Bruno returning with something like this is a great idea, artists won't be able to tour for a while and dude is probably waiting to drop an actual follow-up to 24K Magic until he can tour again. So something like this to tide us over until then is cool.

Yes, but no.

On-Demand Streams are streams that the listener actively searches for, opposed to passive streams (like radio/ Pandora-online radio).

User Generated Content (UGC) is included in these On-Demand Streams. RIAA only includes official videos (no UGC).

In September Nielsen/Billboard removed UGC altogether. But this song has some UGC from before that.

On top of the streams, "The Box" has ~230k total digital song sales. The song is at 9.5M+ units. Since most of the streams are Audio, it isn't that big on YouTube.

Not only did they stopped counting UGC, they stopped counting logged out viewers in Jan 2020.

So when a song from 2021 is reported that reached 1B On-Demand Sterams. It has 850M Audio, so that should mean 150M Video. Reality is there is 250M Video, just 100M weren't logged on their Google account when they watched the videos on YT.

Numbers like this used to be inflated, now they will be deflated a bit. Videos streaming is much much lower that audio.

In 2019 (when everything was normal), Audio streaming was 5 times bigger than Video streaming. Based on Nielsen Year-End Report.

Video streaming is slowly dying.

So when Billboard/chartdata reports stats like this for newer songs just /150. And you will get decently accurate numbers. Digital downloads are dead for everyone except 1 fanbase, so they don't matter in these calculations that much.

tl;dr: The Box will reach Diamond SOON^TM.
