Before that, his last fully solo hit was Don't Wake Me Up in 2012. (*I think I said Usher and Wale by accident in an older thread - since I can't edit that anymore, I can confirm that I was wrong and it is indeed Usher and Zayn.)

Maps > Sugar > Girls Like You
"Sugar" is a ripoff of Katy Perry's "Birthday", even the music video is similar. I'm upset it ended up being the bigger hit.

Sugar is good
Maps has an addictive hook. It isn't the beet song but I'll defend it.
Girls Like You is trash. It got big due to the video.

Here’s my opinion on their sellout era:
- Moves Like Jagger felt nostalgic so i guess there’s that
- Stereo Hearts is what Maroon 5 should’ve been making and improving on this sound
- One More Night is also a nostalgic track, but trash because it blocked gangnam style. i feel like the real sellout happens after this
- Payphone is a guilty pleasure and i loved Wiz’s guest verse and the way he started it. He was so committed to saying those words too
- Daylight i actually liked
- Maps grew on me because it had to be a ‘gym class tune’ for me
- Animals is hilariously funny but i never wanna hear that again like the other countless poorly aged songs in 2014
- Sugar is annoying, period.
- Don’t Wanna Know and What Lovers Do are just TDE being held captive in Adam Levine’s basement
- Cold was kinda nice? idk i think it might be another guilty pleasure
- Girls Like You is just plain boring and just bad
- Memories is also plain boring but it is meh at best
- Nobody’s Love (and Lifestyle).... exists? But like CB, i know they’ll have another hit especially with that Megan Thee Stallion collab coming soon. Can they just please go away, please.

^ You forgot One More Night
Also I have a hard time calling Maroon 5 "sellouts" since they never really had integrity to begin with, their music just sounded better

I mean there’s a clear difference between 2000s M5 and 2010s M5. They completely downgraded, and even their superbowl performance shows it (as being the most hated performance in the 2010s for obvious reasons).

I said it a few weeks back, I'll say it again: One More Night and Animals are my two favorite Maroon 5 tracks post-2011. Both are pretty polarizing on Pulse, but I generally like the catchy exasperation of One More Night and the dark, off-the-wall horror B-movie-ness of Animals. That's more than I can say for the majority of their post-2011 singles (except maybe What Lovers Do and Memories, which are just OK).

I wish The Killers had that kinda success but they won't do bubblegum s**t like M5 😐 And I wish When You Were Young hadn't been caught between years. That song is incredible and deserved as much sustained traction as Mr. Brightside got.

yeah, Gangnam deserved that #1 spot too, but One More Night is a bop and their best 2010s song [imo].

I don't get the hate for One More Night, it's like their best 2010s song lol. It sounds like it could come out of their 2000s albums. Here's how I rank M5's post 2011 career:
Moves Like Jagger: Catchy for a sellout track 8/10
Payphone: A song named after an outdated device but it's sentimental 7/10
One More Night: It's really good lol 9.5/10
Daylight: Kinda meh 5/10
Maps: Not too bad 6/10
Animals: Its kinda like OMN but slightly less better 7.5/10
Sugar: Funky but annoying 4/10
Don't Wanna Know: This is their real downhill spiral 2/10
Cold: Their best post-2016 song 5/10
What Lovers Do: Bleh 4/10
Girls Like You: Uninspired and bland 3/10
Memories: Garbage and offensively boring 1.5/10

I generally hate Maroon 5’s stuff from “Moves Like Jagger” onward, but “One More Night” is 100% that bitch. It’s nothing but hooks from top to bottom; how can anyone hate that?

To think he was finally over in 2017 with the flop of that disappointingly long album... but then freaky friday happened and it felt like a cultural reset for CB Also worth mentioning that Chris Brown has not had a completely solo top 20 hit since Back to Sleep in 2016, and even then he needed a remix from Usher and Zayn* to get the song that high. Before that, his last fully solo hit was Don't Wake Me Up in 2012. (*I think I said Usher and Wale by accident in an older thread - since I can't edit that anymore, I can confirm that I was wrong and it is indeed Usher and Zayn.) In other words he can’t get a hit himself anymore...
