I love this project. Woke up and checked iTunes to see that she is sitting at #1 all genre. I want Messy as a single.

Holy shit. ‘29’ hits so hard. Listening to the rest right now, but bravo for the honesty.

Incredible. I’ve always liked her, but I thought her previous work was lacking in character. That’s definitely not the case here.

Holy s**t. ‘29’ hits so hard. Listening to the rest right now, but bravo for the honesty. This album, EP, whatever it is a dang masterpiece. I can’t imagine being this raw with the world. The lyrics are just incredible and her vocals are on point,

Seems like I'm the only one, who doesn't enjoy this as much as her previous album, which is one of my favorite country albums. Next Girl, 29 and Liability are doing nothing for me, Should've Known Better is okay, Day One is quite good, but its structure is such a turn off for me. I only really like Messy and Show Me Around and expected much more from this.

This is definitely much more personal and almost reaches Taylor levels of transparency in the lyrics. “29” is a good country song. “Should Have Known Better” is the best song here for me by far and “Messy” doesn’t work for me at all.
Still not a fan of her voice but she is getting better with the songs she selects/writes for her projects. Each album has been stronger than the last.

I really like Next Girl, Should've Known Better, 29 and Day One. The rest I don't mind but I don't feel the need to listen to them again,so overall good effort, and hoping the puts What He Didn't Do out soon.
I am hoping for Should've Known Better as next single, as much as I love 29 I don't think it would work for radio and Day One is a ballad, so probably would stall in the 20s.

"29" is song of the year material if I ever heard it the line "The year I was gonna live it up. Now I'm never gonna live it down" genuinely sent chills down my spine.
I just love everything about Carly Pearce, I know she isn't everyone's favorite vocalist but I just love her voice so much and she just has a way with her music that clicks.

“29” reminds me of “20 Years and Two Husbands Ago.”

DAMN. What an album. (I'm calling it an album cause I have no doubt we're getting more songs from this same project soon)
1. Next Girl - Country bop, classic in the making, we know her and we love her
2. Should've Known Better - Read his ass, Carly!!! What an idiot to go after other women when he had such a wonderful one in his life already. Pathetic of him.
3. 29 - Jaw-dropping. There are lyrics in here that gave me full-body chills. She ran a Mac truck over me when she said I feel like I'm running out of time/If youth is wasted on the young, have I wasted mine. Almost cried when that line came up.
4. Liability - Once again READ HIS ASS!!! I really liked the wordplay of the title; I love when songs do that. And once again, what an idiot.
5. Messy - This, SKB or "Liability" sound like the best shots for the next single. I liked her vocal delivery in the chorus and quite love that line give yourself some grace.
6. Show Me Around - My favorite, and one of my favorite Carly songs. Means a lot personally; I feel and know the specific pain conveyed in this one.
7. Day One - The verses here are very clever, I LOVE the structure. Quite liked this one.
This + whatever was scrapped will bring her to the next echelon. Every release is better than the other; I can't wait to see her continue to go places. A+

I have to admit Carly’s voice has never really connected to me. There has always been something that I just didn’t get. Until now. This is beautiful. I will absolutely have this on repeat for a long time coming. I wish there was more here, but at the same time, it’s perfect just as a 7-song EP.

I'm starting to think her team is using the Luke Combs strategy. Ep followed by an album about 5-6 months later. This is actually smart the more that I think about it because it gets some new music out there sooner rather than later, but waits closer to when the lead single is peaking to drop the album. If I were a betting man I'd say we get the full album late summer, early fall, when "Next Girl" is peaking.
Also, interesting to note, I read somewhere that the other three writers had "Day One" written for a while, but something felt off about it, mainly the chorus, and Carly received the song and completely rewrote the chorus. Neat to know that the chorus of it primarily came from Carly.

Wow. This whole thing is really good, but "29" is the one I just cannot put down for the life of me. The chorus melody, her cadence in the delivery, and all the sawing fiddles around her are giving me a Dolly Parton or Lee Ann Womack vibe. She already missed out on one career hit with "It Won't Always Be Like This." Hope that doesn't happen a second time, because "29" sounds like it would be an absolute game-changer and send her career to the next level.
I also love "Liability" and "Messy" A LOT. The hook of the former is so damn clever, and the melody of "Messy" is super catchy. "Show Me Around" remains an absolutely gorgeous album cut and I am happy that song exists because I'm sure that was a wonderful healing moment for Carly to make. "Day One" might be my least fave on the EP cause it hasn't clicked with me fully, but I am liking it more as I replay the EP. I do enjoy "Next Girl" and think it was a good first single option for her, though it's not a favorite and I still think there's something slightly "off" with the feel of the song, like it gives me a slight amateurish vibe with the way it was produced. "Should've Known Better" is solid but I am not nearly as enamored with it as others seem to be and I would prefer it not be released as a single. There's just something about it that doesn't have the same emotional connection or punch that "29" does, for instance.
I'd prob rank the tracks something like this:
1. 29 2. Messy 3. Liability 4. Show Me Around 5. Next Girl 6. Should've Known Better 7. Day One

Haven’t listened to this yet but fully intend to, but I just have to say how similar the title & album cover is to Adele’s 21.
(Reserving rest of post for thoughts on the music itself.)

This is an interesting video where Carly mentions that she's not even sure that another song off 29 will get sent to radio - and if one does, it would maybe be "Messy". The way she talks about this project makes it really sound like it's being treated as an EP and whatever comes next will be full length. Maybe it would include all of the songs on 29 plus additional others to make a full length album; whatever it is is coming by the end of the year. Worth a watch.

It was #18 on the country charts. I thought it would be higher.

It was #18 on the country charts. I thought it would be higher. it was a digital only release. That's why sales weren't as high as her other efforts.
