This deserved top 3 at least, what happened? Were callouts not that good? btw it spent 9 weeks at #1 on Radio songs (Billboard) Considering it peaked In the top 10 on every format it was sent to, I don’t think anyone is crying.

Were callouts not that good? btw it spent 9 weeks at #1 on Radio songs (Billboard) call outs were not good unfortunately.i guess pop radio fans don't like 70's sounding r&b . Complex picked it as the best song of the year so far. www.complex.com/music/best-songs-of-2021-so-far/silk-sonic-leave-the-door-openAlbum: An Evening With Silk Sonic Producers: Bruno Mars, Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II Why it took Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars so long to officially join forces, we may never know, but we’re sure glad they did. “Leave the Door Open” is a velvety debut single from the duo collectively known as Silk Sonic, and it brings to mind shag rugs and waterbed booty calls, capturing the best of ’70s nostalgia. Anchored by Anderson .Paak’s drumming, the funky instrumentation pairs wonderfully with Bruno Mars’ luxurious, buttery crooning. It’s both romantic and lusty, as the duo profess their love to their significant others. “I ain’t playin no games/ Every word that I say is coming straight from my heart/ So if you tryna lay in these arms/ I’mma leave the door open,” Bruno sings. It’s a tribute to decades past, with the best of intentions. Rarely does a new record come along that can bring together all generations, but “Leave the Door Open” does exactly that. And it’s even more rare that a song with so much of an old soul could make it all the way to the top of a list like this one—but this is no ordinary song. It has a timeless, feel-good quality with the power to unite a room full of people on a dance floor. As the world finally opens back up this summer, what more could you want than a song like “Leave the Door Open”? —Jessica McKinney

That's curious because radio, in the last year and a half or so, has embraced retro-sounding songs that have become ultra/super-smashes like Blinding Lights, Say So, Don't Start Now, Kings & Queens, Levitating, Kiss Me More, etc.. I guess the gp wanted more of a synth/disco sound, upbeat, instead of mellow r&b. Anyway, LTDO was a hit on Rhythmic, Hot AC, Pop, etc.

This song exceeded all expectations and I hope come award season it gets its well earned flowers.
There’s always that common phrase - “they don’t make them like they used to” - but here, Silk Sonic absolutely did.

This has full-on collapsed.

It’s a great song and had a pretty good run on Pop, but I can’t imagine recurrent play is going to be very strong. At this rate it might be out of the top 30 by the time it goes recurrent lol

HAC and AC are gonna keep it alive for years. You’re right, I can definitely see it being a staple on those formats as a recurrent/gold. AC, especially.
