"Joy Of My Life" is a reeeeeeaaaaaaaaally ironic name to give to the dreariest song on the album

The John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival cover barely made in top 10 at the last few submissions. bboat11 loses the last place rank. I think Chris Stapleton writes this kind of melody a bit too much (see also Millionaire, A Simple Song), but this is not as catchy as them.

bboat11 may not be happy with the next reveal, because he and another participant are the highest rankers of that song. It's the 2nd lowest SD song in the rankdown though.

Dreary pretty much sums up “Joy of My Life” and it’s another song I skip over from the record. I think Grady Smith more or less used the same word to describe this song in his review of the album last year.

How cool is that Whiskey Sunrise, the 9th track from the album, leaves the rankdown at #9 with an average of 9, and the SD ends up to be integer? I like the dark mood and environment imitating his own darkness, but the music again is heard before from Outlaw State of Mind and Second One to Know, although it made slightly more sense for this song to use thumping outro to simulate a thunderstorm.

“Whiskey Sunrise” is another example of a song that I would much rather hear and probably enjoy more in a live setting. It’s got a great vibe to it, but I just don’t necessarily have a desire to wanna hear it whenever I might put the album on.

Who will be the unfortunate song that missed top half of rankdown? Somebody's #14 is gone. You may already see the song title way back before this album era happens...

Devil Always Made Me Think Twice also appeared in Hailey Whitters' The Dream album as track 9, hence why some of you may see this before. I definitely enjoy Chris Stapleton's version more because his delivery is much stronger. Hailey Whitters' version lacks the same punch, and some of her vocals sound so unpleasant. lady𝓐fan loses the #14.

Ah, I mistook that hint for something else as in a song he was performing live before the album era (which he was with “Arkansas” and “Maggie’s Song”).
Kinda not surprised to see this out already, but I happen to think it’s a jam.

We now reached the top half of rankdown and every song from now on has #1 ranks. There are also four songs left that have #14 ranks, so this looks to be exciting!
Who is gonna to lose a #1 first?

Watch You Burn is Chris Stapleton's response song to that Las Vegas event. It's also featured in album trailer video. The intro sounds like The Chains by Fleetwood Mac which is cool. I also like the anger from the lyrics because you don't hear a lotvof country song with this emotion. The idea of curbing violence with violence can be divisive though. Not to mention the choir at the end just stopped abruptly. gardyfan is the first person to lose a #1, HeyHeyHey and someguy lose the #14.

Another #1 loss and #14 loss from the next reveal. Many people have guessed the meaning of this since it's released.

"Watch You Burn" was an initial favorite of mine when the album came out, but it slipped a bit in ranking for me since then. Still a great song though with pertinent lyrics to the current world landscape.

gardyfan loses #14 after losing #1, and I lose my #1 after losing #2. That traditional country arrangement is excellent imo. Pretty warm touch of steel guitar and piano. I never considered this song to be about his departure of country music (considering this is the most country sounding song in the album). It's just his view of Nashville's city development (and according to him, the popularity of their previous residence there).

I loved the attitude of "Watch You Burn", and I also loved the fact that it talked about the Vegas Shootings without getting political. It was just like "You shot up a crowd of people? At least you're gonna go to hell and the Devil's gonna get you and your soul's gonna be in eternal damnation! Ha!" Like, if any sentiment was going to cut through the partisanship of our current gun climate and land on a message that we can all agree on, it was that one Burn, bitch!!!!
