I went to dinner at a locally-owned family-style tavern tonight in town, heard this song AND Sara Kays. Both have a very good chance at crossing over.

I really want to like this. The bass kicks but I'm not sold on the vocals yet i hope it clicks for you, It took me several plays to “get” this song Listening to it again I think it's just the vocals in the chorus that bother me, particularly on the word "believe." Other than that I love this now

The very fact that this is charting (at least on AAA), and at a much faster rate than labelmate Phoebe Bridgers (even if "Kyoto" was charting on AAA before Mediabase picked up WFUV) is already satisfying in my opinion, considering the single Dead Oceans pushed way back in 2018 didn't even do anything. I wonder if Phoebe Bridgers' (slight) success on alt means commercial stations have more confidence in the label. And hopefully the "artificial" alt push two weeks ago means good things for both formats. (since alt airplay influences the pop AAAs, and some of them already added this one early, even if it's night airplay.)

Completely on board with this now. Why hasn’t it recovered on Alt yet? Did it get dropped?

Glad to see it's back to charting again.
As a side note, it would be interesting to see a list of "one week wonders" on the chart, which has become much more common since the rapid on/off playlisting of Audacy picks of the week.

Top 15 on AAA:

If a few of the commercial holdouts add this, it will be Dead Oceans' first Mediabase top 10.

I’ve heard this in restaurants, stores, etc. I’m surprised it hasn’t crossed to Hot AC at least. It did take Weezer (and a remix) forever though too.

Sounds amazing on the car radio. Alt lost out by not giving this a chance.

Re-passed by Brett Dennen on the official update.
This better keep off the trio of Vance Joy, Bleachers and Foo Fighters.

Done, though it did eventually make the official update. The block from KBCO (because of the label presumably, they've never added anything from Dead Oceans except "Kyoto" and even that one was after it started charting on alt, and it was dropped quickly after it left there), as well as folk-leaning WCLY and Sirius XM Spectrum held this back from going further.

AAA is letting a great one slip through their fingers. If you wanna keep seeing it climb go to my weekly charts. It's up to #7.
