Basically almost every (DJ) Mustard produced song between 2013-2016. You can’t tell me songs like Don’t Tell Em or No Mediocre or I’m Different could be released today and they would hit the same. I’m glad he switched it up for songs like Boo’d Up and Ballin’ because they’re really great produced songs and sound almost timeless. I guess his production on Or Nah, I Don’t f**k With You and Needed Me are sort of in between but they all have their iconic moments in their own right. Considering that the two hip-hop stations in my market still have "I'm Different" and "Don't Tell Em" in their playlist, I have to disagree. They may not have the same success they had at Mainstream, but even today, those two songs would still do very well on the Rhythmic and Urban formats.

"Blurred Lines" is definitely a great contender. Despite never liking the song myself, I can understand why the vintage 70s R&B inspired production and vocals were appealing to some, but as the years went by, literally everything about the song aged like milk: - The lyrics, of course. With greater awareness and consciousness of respecting boundaries post-MeToo, a song complaining about the 'blurred lines' of consent was bound to age poorly, made worse by the awful 'I know you want it' hook and the sleazy nature throughout. - The production not only sounds pretty undercooked in comparison to much stronger throwback hits that came afterwards, but the Marvin Gaye lawsuit definitely soured the whole ordeal. - Robin Thicke. "Paula". Career-ruining record that destroyed his credibility among his fanbase, and made his name a joke in the mainstream. - In 2019, Pharrell Williams regrets having worked on the song, being embarrassed of the chauvinistic culture promoted by the lyrics, and currently disowns it. - More recently, T.I. has been accused by 30 women of 'forced drugging, kidnapping, rape, and intimidation', which just makes the song even more uncomfortable to listen in 2021. Looking forward to seeing this song left to the sands of time as it deserves to be. The fact "Radioactive", "Get Lucky", and "Can't Hold Us" have held up much better in comparison is already a great sign. **Controversial Opinion** I can pretty much confirm this is false! I was at a pool party the other day and “Blurred Lines” came on the speaker and EVERYONE was hyped up to the next level, men and women. I think the narrative that emerged during the #Metoo movement that its offensive is what has aged poorly to be honest. Now that we are in the post Depp trial era, I think it’s time we have a third look at this song and realize it’s not that offensive and there have been way more offensive songs come before and after it. The fact remains this was a monster hit during its time and it still gets a party hyped up. It’s sad we are letting a faux liberal media narrative that many don’t agree with cast a dark cloud over it. There’s absolutely no one saying “take it off, I’m offended” ironically besides the Karen sitting all the way in the corner. That’s my take. Live on, Blurred Lines. But maybe I’m wrong? It’s just based on what I’ve seen in the real world. I’d like someone to cross reference its streams for confirmation. How is this holding up on Spotify compared to other 2013 smashes? Has the faux cancelled movement against it had any impact on its streams? Let’s look at the receipts and not what the media tried to depict 5 years later.

Any and every 80s rap song. Nah man. NWA’s two biggest songs (Straight Outta Compton and especially Fuck Tha Police) and Public Enemy’s cover of Fight the Power aged like wine. But if you’re thinking of pop rap, idc what anyone says, Bust a Move is too much fun to age poorly. Same for Push It by Salt N Peppa

Already mentioned this during the 2000s polls but How to Save Your Life is awful. Manipulative and insensitive, just a heinous song that I can't believe I fell for when I was younger.
And on that topic, Fix You is pretty overrated as well.

I would mostly agree, except for the fact that I never could stand it to start with. And I like the Fray's other hits. D*mn Grey's Anatomy....

Sorry but, Beautiful by Christina Aguilera Erm, especially with the music video, this song was *ahead* of its time. By like ten years. It was one of the biggest, most remembered, and most replayed piano ballads from that year or two until probably Someone Like You. It still gets a ton of play.

I have a few, some might be hot takes but, here I go
I Took a Pill in Ibiza: Particularly the first line in the song where he mentions Avicii, I don't need to tell y'all what happened a few years later.
Hey There Delilah: This is a good example of a song that's really good when you don't know the context behind it. The person who the lead singer wrote this about was real and not only has she never dated him, but she had a boyfriend at the time.
Age Ain't Nothing but a Number: Do I need to explain this?
Daughters: This was incredibly dated even back in 2003 when it first released but it aged even worse as time went on.

This GIF is the definition of a trainwreck you can't stop watching, as it's so unbelievably embarrassing. 😭 Anyway, to answer the thread's topic, I do have a few songs that are absolute products of their time. Everything about LMFAO just screams early 2010s. "Party Rock Anthem" still has a very nostalgic quality to it, but that drop is grating. The less said about "Sexy And I Know It" 's production, though, the better. I agree that Party Rock Anthem aged like cheese.

Dre Day by Dr. Dre, was one of his biggest hits, but it’s not even remembered at all or plays on the radio at all compared to his other songs. KDAY Los Angeles does play Dre Day in rotation.

Maybe I should have specified but I think it has aged SONICALLY Well, you're certainly entitled to think that. I think even the production is minimal enough that it really hasn't aged poorly at all. Certainly not in the way that, say, the LMFAO songs have.

See, imo Maroon 5 is one of the most consistent acts in the way of songs aging, with a few exceptions (I used to hate Animals and I used to think that Lost was mid. I've definitely come around on those two now. I've also come around on a lot of RPB tracks). But anyway, I've always hated This Summer with all my guts. And most of the songs I love by them are songs that I loved first listen.
