On first listen this song was laughable. However it honestly gets stuck in my head and has grown on me to where I think I might actually like it... I also like "Let Me Reintroduce Myself" though.
That being said, at this point in Gwen's career, I wish we were getting music more along the lines of "Cool".

I have never actually heard anyone talk about this outside of Pulse. If I hadn't actually played the Youtube video I wouldn't even be sure it was a real song.
I don't really get the intention here because these two tracks feel very trend-chasing and meant to sort of be "hits" but they don't seem to want to move a single finger to actually get them to chart anywhere... and they also aren't good enough to justify some sort of "niche but critically acclaimed" attention like what Charli or Carly Rae get.

Maybe thereโs not too many people out there making songs that fit Gwen, but I feel like Max Martin could work for her. Heโs done so many different things for different artists that work for them.
Again, I adore Gwen but the last bit of music isnโt doing it for me. Feels like sheโs chasing her old self, when she could be doing new s**t making new trends. Or at least not so campy that it isnโt going to interest many.

I watched this video for the first time today to purge the disappointment that is Slow Clap from my brain.

Second (I assume this is actually the original one that was put on hold because the Saweetie version was happening). It premiered last week exclusively on Facebook and is now on Youtube as well.

I'm just astounded that any label would sink money into two videos for this song when it's clearly not doing *anything*.

I like the video with Saweetie better. This one looks a bit cheap. Still bopping to this song!

Ok but who at the label thought this was a song worth making more than one music video for?

Why is Gwen still promoting this? Doesn't she have a clue that this song is crap? I keep seeing Gwen talking about Slow Clap in her Twitter feeds and on Facebook with the new video. Cmon Gwen move on and release another song!! I'm a big Gwen fan and she's in my top 5 favorite artists but she can do better than Slow Clap.

TBH I was really excited about Gwen collaboration on Club Future Nostalgia before we all found out that the project was just a club mix and had zero mainstream appeal. She could really use a high-profile collaboration to kickstart some hype.

For the most part of her career, Gwen has been a rare type of artist who could be really camp without being too cringe. The key here was her natural goofiness and personality. That's not to say there were no cringe moments, there definitely were. But by and large she was able to pull off (or at least try) a lot of experiments that others wouldn't have been able to and still keep moving as a distinctive act. Her cringe moments weren't pandering either. I know a lot of people hated Wind It Up, but it wasn't pandering. She was silly and stupid on nobody else's terms but her own, which in turn made her endearing. This is pandering and could be done by anyone.
This song is just cringe through and through aside from the first prechorus ('Are you rooting for...'), which could be completely lifted out of the song.
The worst part is that her catalog has plenty of tracks which she could do now and pull off. Cool, Early Winter, U Started It, The Real Thing, Wonderful Life, and so on. I think her last album suffered a bit from being written with one group to the point where it spilled over on being too similar as a whole, but she still came through it unlike here.
I don't know who she has worked with for this project, but she should work with Tony if she hasn't. The songs they did really channelled her new wave influences well. She can't turn the clock back to 2004, but she still has a direction in which she can make a solid piece of work.

Even the last album had its gems in Rare & Make Me Like You, I'm scared for her next project though

YES! I knew I was forgetting something. I loved that from the first listen and consider it an overall career highlight.

Yeah same here, it was a really lovely track on a mostly middle of the road album But yeah I really wish she would release a single akin to Rare or the like the other tracks you mentioned such as Early Winter, Cool, 4 In The Morning, etc

even The Sweet Escape had duds. Only LAMB had home run after home run among her solo albums.
No Doubt has a much stronger discography but she's clearly in a different place in life creatively from her former bandmates so I won't hold my breath

GS still looks amazing and has that 'star' presence. But the choices lately - ugh! How about a feature on a hot dance or reggae-tinge track?

If they were, some were definitely trimmed for a reason.
