Great start! It was my first time to check out this EP, and I enjoyed almost everything except for these 2 songs, so happy for this top 5!

Yep, this was the correct bottom 2! I did like both of these, but I loved just about everything else.

So far I've gotten a perfect rank for every song and I think there's a decent chance that I will actually get one for the remaining 3 as well, which would be pretty damn cool to see tbh.

The correct top 2!!!! Rooting for "What If We Don't", although I'm pretty sure it's going to be "Bible And A .44".

As expected! "Bible And A .44" is so much better for Ashley's voice than it is for Trisha's. I mean, both versions are great, but there is just something so earthy in Ashley's voice that makes this song truly shine! It's the sort of relatable grit that makes Patty Loveless so well beloved as well. Trisha's version is great too, but she has a much more slick, polished voice that imo didn't fully capture the magic of this song as well as it does on bigger ballads like "Tell Me Something I Don't Know", "Broken", or "How Do I Live".
"What If We Don't" just has such a strong melody though, I couldn't help but put it at #1! This has smash hit written all over it. Glad to see it at least finish in the top 2!

Thank you everyone for participating in this rankdown. I really enjoyed listening to this EP myself and loved all 7 songs. I do think my favorites are "Bible and A .44", "Fat and Famous", and "Luckiest S.O.B." as of right now but everything is good.

bboat11 has anyone ever gotten a perfect ranking for everything in a rankdown because I may have just made history. Anyway, I literally have 0 complaints with how this went as it went EXACTLY how I ranked the songs and therefore this was the best outcome I could've hoped for! Great start to the series!!

Great top 2! What If We Don't was definitely my favourite discovery here, but I really like this EP overall. While I'm working on Girl Goin' Nowhere now and it is a solid album, I feel like the materials in this EP has a stronger chorus melody and vocal delivery that well suits my taste. I will send my list for the next one soon castleoblivion26

Oh good. This song is so interesting conceptually/lyrically, but it is easily the sleepiest song on this album and has always been the one that I've been inclined to revisit the least. It just doesn't hold my attention with how low-key it is.

This isn’t starting out well at all. Both of these are great and deserved better.

Okay now "Leroy," otoh, deserved way better here! The lyricism in this song is SO interesting and different like "Babylon," but without being sleepy. There's so much life and personality to her delivery of this one and the raw look into the darker side of rural life is really unique here. The story arc that happens as the song progresses is also wonderful. Honestly, the way I talk about this song... it's a masterpiece, and yet, it's only my #5 on this album because of how GOOD Ashley McBryde is, so I guess I can understand the difficulty with this rankdown.

I think title track will win this one (and I ranked it high) but that was a really bad start for me lol
I get why Southern Babylon would be last place if your primary playlist is radio-oriented music, but the spine-chilling atmosphere is so well done it might as well be a movie soundtrack song. I don't find many indie artists doing the style this well, and even less for a supposed mainstream debut album!
Livin' Next To Leroy is also quite progressive for a mainstream artist to sing about, although the social commentary lyrics are more often done by alt-country artists.
So it really can put up a fight with Golden Hour in terms of quality (they were released on the same day!) and this album is slightly better than that imo.

Shocked @ "Tired of Being Happy" being this low!! That big wailed chorus is so classic country. I love it so much! It conceptually reminds me of a LAW song from her prime.

El Dorado – I like the rock melodies in this one. Lyrically it’s slightly repetitive so I get why it’s in lower position.
Tired of Being Happy – On the contrary I don’t really like this melody. It’s too standard sounding for me.
Andy (I Can't Live Without You) – The story is great but the simple melody is not as engaging as others.
Home Sweet Highway just suffers from the harsh competition.
