Yeah, Scoot is definitely gonna push this and pov. A good video is what's gonna top it off.

the image and text on the cover being off center is sooo quirky

Pretty much confirmed that they are going to push this as the next single. A standalone release of the song is available now. So, they released it as a separate single so that it can show up on Ariana's (super popular) Spotify page as the "latest release"
I live for stuff like that, idk

Anyway, this is solid and a grower, but it's just... not very catchy to me. The only line I can remember after hearing it 5 times is "I don't belieeeeve in you". I think I can kinda hum the part the title comes from, but if that's supposed to be the main hook, it's not a strong one.
But um... Demi hasn't had a radio hit in some time, so I'm not sure any song that doesn't feature Ariana Grande can move past the Zara Larsson area of the pop chart. And since they've already promoted MHLN on all streaming platforms, it makes sense. Damn... I would really get behind the title track and The Kind Of Lover I Am.
Why did they even release the (other) title track to radio last week by the way?

at the Zara Larsson Area™. But sadly accurate.

Anyone else think that Demi kinda sounds like Carrie Underwood when she does the octave jump in the chorus?

With Ariana and Justin it makes sense because they have the hype and name value to sustain multiple songs but I don't know if that approach will work as well with Demi who definitely still has name recognition but isn't as big of a radio darling as Ari/Justin. If it ends up being two hits for her, great but my expectations aren't great with this approach.

They should have just led with this if they saw this as a single all along. They’ve wasted enough singles trying to get the album off the ground. The title track failing on radio actually works as a hindrance to this song.
As for my opinion of this, it’s electro PBR&B fare that’s short on hooks, and heavy with glum overtones. There’s a dark and dangerous American Psycho-esque aura to that dude they’re describing as the devil. Apart from this, it’s not particularly memorable.
I think this will be carried into the teens of Top 40 radio on the strength of the collaboration alone; although I think this won’t last long and far enough to be a hit. I’m hoping this does well enough for more singles to be released.

They did the correct thing the last time by doing the safer radio choice first (Sorry Not Sorry) before releasing the more adventurous title track... not sure what the plan was here, this was always going to overshadow the rest of the project due to name reconition.

I'm afraid there was no plan here. Ariana Grande was still cutting vocals for this in March, and Demi has said this was a last minute addition to the album. I'm guessing the song was still on the album, but the addition of Ariana as a feature was a recent development. This rollout has been one of the messiest pop girlie rollouts in recent memory. Demi deserved better.

March was... literally last week. Mess.
At least she's pulling a respectable first week number for the album.

I would have wanted to see Demi have her blockbuster era this time around.

Spincrease has it up at +411, so it must be close. Possibly top 50 sometime over the next couple of days? It's top 50 on Hot AC already.

I have been waiting for a collab between Demi and Ariana, my two favorite vocalists, for like 7 years now. I'm so glad it's finally here!

I was so pumped in the first 45 seconds or so thinking man, this is gonna go hard!!!! Then nothing happened.
I guess that is kind of the style-fairly uneventful songs that kind of stick in the same lane for the entire time, but power pop me always craves something else LOL.

Whilst I think the rollout has been messy, I'm not convinced much would have changed performance-wise. Maybe the Demi/Ariana would have debuted higher, but I doubt the album opening would have been much different. If anything, it slightly over performed.

"Girlfriends are my boyfriend" is the better choice I can't remember how this goes. I think this will peak about the same as "Don’t Call me Angel" could be lower. Hopefully Demi will still make Girlfriend a single so the album will have legs.

This song is good and I like the production, I just wish the chorus hit a bit harder. You got two of the biggest powerhouse vocalists in modern music and the chorus is so soft, it's doing them a disservice.

If Prisoner couldn’t get higher than #20, this won’t either.

A lot of people were excited with the synth distortion in the beginning. It turns out that was more for atmosphere than anthem. The song’s hook is barely there; the song relies more on mood than power. I’d be surprised if this becomes a big Top 40 hit, but I am hoping for it anyway.
