Pretty simple thread; what was the first country song you remember hearing on the radio?
Mine: Restless Heart - "When She Cries"

"Slave to the Habit" by Shane Minor.
As much as my local station played that song, I thought for a long time it was a wayyy bigger hit than it actually was...haha

Mine has got to be Tim McGraw's "I Like It, I Love It". Although I was like 2, so I have no idea how much of it was radio and how much of it was my dad playing the cd, but that song was little toddler boat's JAM!!!! 😂 I'd walk around singing it all the time!

When there was bad weather, I liked to try and catch some radio stations from the US. So through that method, my first country song was "She's Gonna Make It" by Garth Brooks.

Breathe by Faith Hill.
I’d give anything for new music from her. I loved her so much back then.

For me, it was Shania's "Any Man Of Mine". I remember being about 5 or 6, pushing a kitchen chair over to the radio. Then I hopped up and kneeled on the chair, got my head as close to the radio as possible and sang every word.
My first country radio memory.

Billy Ray Cyrus "Achy Breaky Heart"
Would have been around 7 at the time. My sister also did a baton routine to that song at the time so that's how I remember it so well.

I wish I could remember one in particular! I feel like “Redneck Yacht Club” was big when I first started listening to the radio lol. Fun song!
I think “Lucky Man” by Montgomery Gentry was big around the same time.

His self titled album was my first cassette I owned as a child. I remember being disappointed when I got it for Christmas because "Friends In Low Places" was not on the album. 9 year old me at the time had no clue about album titles though until I got older. I never owned No Fences until he released the box set years ago with all the remastered versions of his albums on CD.

I never cared about music at all til I hit nine years old no matter what my mom tried to play and she tried almost all music nothing hit me til one random day the radio was on in the background and the local DJ who now is a friend came on and said we’ve got the new one from the king of country and then played write this down I don’t know why that song turned my head but that song got me hooked then I started rummaging thru her record collection and found two more songs I was obsessed with buck owens tiger by the tail and Tammy Wynette your good girls are gonna go bad I played them so much that my brother ended up breaking both of those 45’s
It only took one song to start my love affair with country music and I have never left it and never will it’s the only type of music that resonates with me my mom loves all different types of music always has but if it ain’t country it ain’t me
Sorry for the long post figured I’d give a little background

I wanna say it was one of Shania Twain's songs in like 2002. I was four and the first album my parents ever bought me was her 'Up' album so I must've listened to her on the radio first to discover who she was.

I never owned No Fences until he released the box set years ago with all the remastered versions of his albums on CD. I remember when I went and saw a guy named Garth Brooks at the county fair here in Central Wisconsin back in 1989. We went to see him based off of his one song "Much Too Young" which was fun, and wanted to go on the rides more than anything else. This is a town of about 12,000 people and he sang a bunch of songs off his debut album and walked away thinking he was going to be a star. A little awkward on stage actually, but he had fun. I remember him singing "The Dance", If Tomorrow Never Comes, Not Counting You, Alabama Clay, Cowboy Bill, probably a few others off his album. Also sprinkled in some Elton John and Billy Joel. No idea he would become who he was based on that night lol. On topic, the first song I remember hearing on the radio was "Diggin' Up Bones" by Randy Travis somewhere in the mid-80s. It was on the local station all the time when I was 7 or 8.

"That Don't Impress Me Much" Shania Twain. I was in the car with my cousin as young kids and perfectly recall her singing along and deeply annunciating "Impress-ah me much".
I also have memory of hearing "This One's For the Girls" by Martina McBride and it being stuck in my head as a young kid.
