I think Blinding Lights is the biggest song of all time now, hasn't it passed The Twist by now? If not it's desperately close. is it? It doesn't even feel like the biggest song of the past 10 years lol. Yeah when thinking of the "Biggest songs of all time", the Peak popularity and cultural relevance plays the biggest factor in the public consciousness. Sure longevity is great, and songs like Blinding Lights, Circles, Radioactive, Sunflower, Rolling in the Deep, or Girls Like You were massive for sure, but to the GP I don't think they felt as culturally impactful compared to songs that reached higher peaks, despite technically having longer chart longevity, and thus gaining more "chart points". In the last 10 years, I think about songs like Uptown Funk, Old Town Road, Despacito, and Call Me Maybe when thinking of songs that felt the "biggest" in their time.

Circles feels such a non-event considering how high it's on the all time list. Idk, maybe it's just because I'm not from America and it wasn't anywhere near as huge worldwide as the other songs near it on the list To me it absolutely was an event, I just think because Blinding Lights immediately followed and broke the top ten record right after made it even more of an event.

OF COURSE the responses I'm getting are "but there are 3 black artists in the top 10 of pop radio! How does that mean black artists are being blocked on pop radio?!" Typical. I even mentioned that in a post so many of you conveniently skipped over, lol. I forget that some of you simply aren't open-minded enough to have some conversations. Forget I said anything. Pop radio is 100% fair with the artists they push on their format and those they don't ^__^ So them playing 3-4 artists is racist? Then what do you call urban radio which plays none? (what diversity do you see there) Pop radio lit. had mood @ #1 & go crazy #3 🤦♂️ They're constantly featuring crossovers whether it's rock/rap but you can't expect whole thing to be just that. & You saying a guy who said if he wants to listen light music he'll switch pop radio is a terrible mentality? Sthu, it's his personal preference. [When i want to listen pop music I'll switch to TTH other times i go this is metal, rap caviar /alt now] Yes, there's the case of payola but that's another issue which has been here for ages Nxt time there's a beat drop in djent /metalcore tracks should i make a fuss that it should be played on rhythmic/edm stations? 😬😂

A woman of Filipina descent is currently #1. 3 songs with Black men as the lead are in the top 10. Another song by a Black man is #11. Bruno Mars and Anderson.Paak are non-white, and their new single is racing up the chart (top 15). Bad Bunny is Puerto Rican and is top 20. Travis Scott is another Black man in the top 20. Saweetie and Doja Cat are Black women with a song at #21 and rising. Black Eyed Peas and Shakira are on a song in the top 25. Cardi B is top 25 and rising. There are then obviously white people doing well. On the whole I can't imagine another format has that many different races/cultures represented in the top 25.

Hey. You guys are naming all these songs and I’m here to tell you that shape of you is bigger than every single one of them To me, Shape of You falls in the same category as Smooth. They didn't feel as big to me because the follow-ups to each of these songs (Maria Maria and Perfect) went on to become all-time hits themselves.

Bruno better not get blocked and have a #2 peak with his great song. I swear if it’s another 24k Magic situation where the song that does go to number 1 is a post album single, and completely mediocre when compared to the lead single (but actually still great because it is Bruno, and he’s got Anderson along this time as well), i’m really gonna be pissed.

I think the point TheGreatDivide was trying to make was that CHR doesn't represent people of colour enough, and there is a gap there that needs to crossed. Calling top 40 racist could be a reach but acting like every race is represented the same would be ignorant.

Another strong Spotify day for Peaches, seems it will be #1 (it all comes down to Spotify/others ratio I guess)

Another strong Spotify day for Peaches, seems it will be #1 (it all comes down to Spotify/others ratio I guess) I'm just surprised at how weak Justin is on YouTube US. Peaches has over 28M views on YouTube right now but not even 5M of those views are from the US. He also isn't strong on Pandora/Amazon Music so really >85% of Peaches streams this week will be from Spotify/Apple Music. It'll be lucky to pull 35M streams this week. If he did better on other platforms, he could have easily pulled 40-50M streams and the race wouldn't be close at all.

Is it me or are Youtube Numbers down across the board? I feels like most big songs just don't get the views they did 4-5 years ago. The 3 biggest songs from last year: Blinding Lights, Circles, and The Box are all between like 300-400 million views currently, which pales in comparison to just a few years ago.

As in, are people arguing that Top 40 should be 15% white, 15% Black, 15% Asian, 15% Hispanic, 15% Native American, or what?

^A predictable desperate move to get it to #1. Up was discounted last week which helped push it to #1. Week 6 vs Week 1 though 🥴 Scooter bypassed the usual $.99 discounted price point and went straight to the max.

Personally, I get the appeal of that MGK/CORPSE thing, but I’m just not into it. Wish he gave a proper push to Forget Me Too instead. I don't think his label will. It's their speciality to fuck up potential hits eg. ITIO, Candy, esp lockdown sessions (they didn't even 1 of em cleared for streaming & sales, if they did they'd have couple of entries since they blew up on YT)
