So I donβt care for the song but find it amusingly impressive how the fans can keep doing this. And also amusing how totally fervently adamant this one person was that they were right based onβ¦cuz they felt it to be so, instead of just taking the L. At least Dynamite is going recurrent. Up should be highlighted as the sales #1, unless the sales number for Peaches (which I think is locked in as the Hot 100 #1) is massively underestimated (and in that case, the race for #1 wasn't really close at all). Iβm certain Up and LTDOβs sales figures will end up ahead of Dynamite. My predicted figure for Dynamite is 12k +/- 1000. I have confidence the final figure will be between 11k and 13k, even with the mass buying. I havenβt moved off the 12k figure since the final numbers for last week were released. If I had to put money on it, I'm going Peaches. No way Dynamite did 41k sales this week, unless the mass buys from the Grammys didn't get counted on last week's chart, and instead counted on this week's. I don't see how that is possible. Last week, Dynamite had the Grammys to boost it and was in the teens and 20's most of the week on the iTunes chart. This week, no Grammys boost and it was in the 70's on the iTunes chart for most of the week. Seems fishy to me if it got 41k sales this week and only 26.5k last week. I'm guessing some website sales got delayed or reported for this week? The one store where we get numbers (iTunes) was way down this week.

This is one of those stats that needs to be split between eras. Obviously it's much easier for acts to chart songs now than pre-downloads and pre-streaming.

All stats should be viewed in the context of eras

Would love to see that list with features removed, just out of curiosity. Taylor would be the least affected out of the newer acts I think, while Drake, Wayne, Future and Nicki probably have a big percentage of those being features.

Without features:Drake - 164 entries Taylor Swift - 125 entries Future - 86 entries Lil Wayne - 76 entries Nicki Minaj - 43 entries Pop singers historically don't do a ton of features, especially compared to rappers. Features are usually reserved for Hip-Hop/Rap artists so Drake, Future, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj having a lot of entries as featured acts shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

This is one of those stats that needs to be split between eras. Obviously it's much easier for acts to chart songs now than pre-downloads and pre-streaming. I mean, that goes without saying but Billboard not splitting all their stats between eras makes sense. It would be a mess if they had to do that because there are acts who have transcended more than one era and that would make everything too complicated. Eminem is a good example of that. Anyone viewing stats like this should know why newer acts have more entries compared to older acts. Applying context to stats like this goes without saying. I don't think that needs to be spelled out everytime the stats are posted or referenced.

BTSβs βDynamiteβ Ties The All-Time Record For Most Weeks At No. 1 On The Song Sales Chart Hugh McIntyre Hugh McIntyreContributor Hollywood & Entertainment
Yet again, BTS rule over Billboardβs Digital Song Sales chart this week with what has turned out to be not only the biggest hit of their time together, but one of the longest-running leaders in the tallyβs history (and one of the bestsellers in recent memory).
BTSβs βDynamiteβ is steady at No. 1 this frame on the Digital Song Sales chart, Billboardβs weekly ranking of the tracks that actually sold the best (as opposed to a list like the Hot 100, which also incorporates streams and radio play). The tune has led the charge for 17 nonconsecutive frames, and it has now tied the all-time record for the most frames spent at No. 1.
The South Korean septetβs disco-pop smash is now on the same level as Lil Nas Xβs βOld Town Road,β which managed 17 weeks at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart during its heyday less than two years ago. All those purchases, paired with incredible streaming numbers, helped the country/hip-hop hybrid lead the Hot 100 for a record-setting 19 weeks.
βDynamiteβ sold another 43,000 copies this week, according to information shared by MRC Data, easily grabbing the top spot. It outsold the runner-up, Cardi Bβs βUp,β more than twice over. The rapperβs fifth No. 1 on the Hot 100 (which is currently still in charge of that tally, at least for a little while longer) sold just under 17,000 copies this frame.
Last week, βDynamiteβ was tied with Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieberβs βDespacitoβ as the track with the second-most weeks at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. Now itβs officially passed that crossover smash for good, and thereβs no looking back.
Helping βDynamiteβ rack up as many weeks at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart as itβs managed has been a mix of continued promotion, a smart strategy that saw the band release 10 different versions of the title (with all takes counted as one entity) and an unrivaled fan base that is keenly aware of what history the single could make if they came together and continued to purchase the giant.
βDynamiteβ became BTSβs first No. 1 hit on the Hot 100 in mid-2020 when it debuted in first place thanks to more than a quarter of a million sales in its first full tracking frame, a figure which hadnβt been seen in years. The win made the K-pop titans the first act from South Korean to reach the loftiest space on the all-genre list, and while it fell outside the top 10 long ago, itβs still present on the chart.

kworb's Billboard Radio Songs Estimates 2021/03/29
9(=) The Weeknd - Blinding Lights 84.91(-0.20)
This might be Blinding's last week in the top 10 of radio. Overall, 53 weeks in the top 10 (including 04/03/21 chart) 54 if we count that recurrent week.

Holy not returning this week is so confusing ugh... I had it at #19. It's in the top 25 of Rolling Stone this week too. And it's not like Billboard doesn't allow these kinds of songs to rechart after going recurrent (LOVE., When The Party's Over, the vast majority of Christmas songs that chart annually), so I don't get why it's not back this week.

BTSβs βDynamiteβ Ties The All-Time Record For Most Weeks At No. 1 On The Song Sales Chart Hugh McIntyre Hugh McIntyreContributor Hollywood & Entertainment The thing to remember is that Billboard is just as much, if not THE MOST, to blame for all this by allowing it to happen and not adjusting their rules, which I wouldn't expect them to do anytime soon. It should come as no surprise, as for years they've been constantly touting BTS, and K-pop in general, on their site that does not merit the band's or the genre's level of popularity in the U.S.; the fledgeling publication has just been raking in the dollars from their marketing team. They know exactly what's happening, and they're completely beholden to them. It's really very shameful if you think about it.

Really, Billboard could have easily adjusted their rules back in September/October when the song's sales gimmicks first started to get out of hand, but they've chosen instead to stay complacent and use these strategies for their own gain. And this is exactly why I've been paying less attention to the Hot 100 recently. I find Rolling Stone, the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard's genre charts a lot more interesting these days.

Sales gimmicks have been going on for decades - nothing new. Regardless of the gimmick - someone still has to be out there to buy it, in this case there seems to be plenty of people buying it.
As sales is still a viable component to music consumption - it doesn't seem realistic that sales of any sort would be limited

Rolling Stone is way more accurate than HDD, so I think HDD's chart was glitched.

I just noticed:
#1. Justin Bieber (from London/Stratford, Ontario) & Daniel Caesar - from Oshawa, Ontario
#5/6. The Weeknd - (from Scarborough, Ontario)
#8. Drake - (from Toronto, Ontario)
ONTARIANS occupying 4/10 of the Top 10 this week

Peaches becomes the 27th different #1 during the chart run of Blinding Lights (this number includes Blinding Lights itself). With What's Next dropping below Blinding Lights, only drivers license and Peaches (of the 26 #1's not named Blinding Lights) have yet to record a week charting below Blinding Lights.
