And even with a last place to boot! Yeah, that last place coming early on is honestly the only reason why it even looked like anything else ever had a chance... "Credits" was an absolutely massive force in this rankdown, as it received top 8 placement by literally everybody except the random last place rank 😂 Despite being tanked early on, it climbed rapidly and deftly to get to its inevitable placement.

While both of these were in my top 3, I'm happy with the end result as "When the Credits Roll" is very much deserving of the win. I've long been mystified by and disappointed in how the song was never even a part of George's farewell tour at the time as I thought it would've been something he would've included in his set. Glad to see that the song lives on here on Pulse, however! That said, "That's What Breaking Hearts Do" always sounded like a hit to me and is one of many other choices they had for a single over "I Believe". It has such an infectious lyrical element to it that I always find it getting stuck in my head whenever I do listen to it. It's always a tad bittersweet to see yet another one of these rankdowns for George come to an end as I really do love going back to revisit his songs. Thanks again as always bboat11!

There you have it!!! I remember "That's What Breaking Hearts Do" being a favorite for a potential single back when this era was fresh, as it is a very unique song that stands out in a good way in George's catalog, and he also sang it a lot on his retirement tour that was going on simultaneously to this album era. Then they chose "I Believe" and killed the era....... This is one that I have overplayed a little through the years, hence me 'only' putting it at #4 behind "Credits", "Fence", and "Love Comes Around", but I still absolutely love it, and this album 100% deserved to occupy my top 4 😂 I love everything in this rankdown, but it's been a long time since I've stanned for an album era as hard as I stanned for this one! I'm so thrilled to see all these incredible songs making the top 6 here Anyway, as much as I love "Breaking Hearts", "When The Credits Roll" was always going to be my #1 in this rankdown, and will very likely also be my #1 in the finale rankdown we will be doing next. Something about that song just hits me so perfectly! The steel guitar that kicks off the song is a nice way to start, obviously. I can't help but get ramped up when I hear that little lick. But seriously, the production is just so perfect and well-balanced!! The steel and fiddle and guitars and drums all come together so perfectly to create a song that is deliciously neo-trad, while also sounding somehow more modern than the average George Strait track. On top of it all, the way George belts that rather difficult chorus melody and makes it sound so easy is just yet another example of why he's one of the best in the business. To this day it has yet to age a day with me, and I can literally listen to it on repeat and never get sick of it. I am SO glad to welcome it to the land of the winners!!! Here's hoping for at least a top 5 in the overall finale rankdown!! Thank you to those who took the time to participate in this series I hope you have all made some awesome discoveries......that will hopefully incentivize you to participate in a much, much bigger rankdown next honoring all of the big wigs and heavyweights from this series!! I cannot WAIT to see how his overall career plays out in terms of album tracks!!

I figured it would come down to "Some Nights" and "When The Credits Roll", so not at all surprised to see Credits take the prize. Great song, and such a wasted single opportunity. A little surprised "Some Nights" had so many mediocre ranks, it was far and away the best song on what was a pretty good album (although there's no question "Love Is Everything" was the stud album of the decade, and one of his career bests). It's the only song from this set that's a lock for my top 10 in the finale, and might even crack the top 5.

Album Tracks Rankdown #5: GRAND FINALE!!!!!
Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for THE FINAL EVENT of this entire album series!!! (At least until George releases new music!) For most artists, we have just done one album tracks rankdown at the end of their album series, to celebrate all the hits that got away, all of the artists' underrated and under appreciated gems. But George has SO many albums, we had to break them up by decade because there were just too many album tracks to adequately honor them all in one rankdown. Now that we have finished with each decade of his career, it is time to take just the most essential from each decade, and pit them against each other for one FINAL, EPIC SHOWDOWN to determine the absolute best album track of his entire career! Based on my knowledge of George's career, I have determined the appropriate split to be as follows: -1980s: 20 songs -1990s: 25 songs -2000s: 25 songs 2010s: 10 songs For a grand total of 80 songs. Now, I know we may lose some people who are not interested in ranking a list that is quite this big. But the entire point of this rankdown is to basically be a fun dream come true for all of George's biggest fans If we only get 5 die-hard fans, so be it. If we manage to get 10-15, fellers we're in for a SHOW!!! Anyway, I would encourage anybody who has been sitting this series out to consider jumping in now, as this is the GRAND FINALE!! All are welcome, and I am giving a LOT of time to get it done! Lol Tracklist: (Runtime 4 hr 22 min)

By the way, I 100% understand if any of the 'regulars' decide to back out because of how massive this one is. It may feel excessive to some, but to me, as a huge fan, this feels like about as much as I could cut it without having too many egregious omissions. My hope is that this is a playlist that will bring joy to all, but at the end of the day I care more about the biggest fans' happiness and sense of completion than I do anyone's size-related consternation :) Also, having nearly 3 months to get it done should hopefully help! Also, this is still less than half the size it would have been if we'd ranked them all at once, so...

Omg I expected this to be like the top 5 of each decade or something. Jfc. Lol all throughout the other rankdowns I've been saying things like "Now that we're at the top 20, we're looking at the songs that made the finale from this era!" 😂 But anyway, all along the album tracks rds were a way to filter out like half of his career, so we could come together and rank the best half against itself in the end. I understand if it's too much for some, so there will be no pressure or expectations on my end. Just a big fun finale party for anyone who feels compelled to partake Lol

Album Tracks Rankdown #5: GRAND FINALE!!!!!
It is time to revive this thing!!!! I took way longer than I intended to complete the reveals for the 2016, 2021, and 2010s decade-end rds back-to-back, so I ended up barely promoting this one back when it first opened, and definitely never closed it at the end of March like originally planned... But in the end, I feel like that is potentially a good thing, as I know there are a few for whom having a little bit of time off from George might have increased their likelihood of being willing to participate!! At the very least, even if we only get like 3 people, we will be proceeding with this rankdown now, for the sake of George's biggest fans who are eager to see how the best deep cuts of his entire career stack up against each other I will be giving you until the end of August to get a list in if you would like to join I don't plan on giving any further extensions, as this is the sort of rankdown where the majority of participants are already going to be familiar with all of the songs! Tracklist: (Runtime 4 hr 22 min)
1980s: 1. Hollywood Squares 2. 80 Proof Bottle Of Tear Stopper 3. Honky Tonk Crazy 4. Hot Burning Flames 5. Lefty's Gone 6. Leavin's Been Comin' (For A Long, Long Time) 7. You know, this is going to take a while to get through, but it's George Strait so it's worth it. I'm really happy to hear you say that!!! At this point we have already ranked all of his albums individually, used that data to determine the best album tracks from each album, then ranked all of those top album tracks split up by decade...So now with THIS rankdown, we are taking only the best songs from each of the decade rankdowns, which means we have basically whittled his career down to just what Pulse considers to be the absolute best of the best from his entire catalog. So this list may be long, but it is also about as strong of a rankdown list as you could ever get from George Strait without any of the hits. And that's saying something, since he's always been about as reliable as they come in the quality department! In other words, it may be a time investment, but it WILL be worth it!

I don't have an Apple Music account and I use either YouTube or Spotify for my own streaming, so it's something I am going to repeat, for my own behalf as well as for others.

I am going to try to do regular reminders for this one, so I'm tagging everyone again even though it's still pretty far out. The deadline is now just about 5 1/2 weeks away! I have one list from tim, but I have listened to the whole playlist and just need to throw a list together for myself, and I know at least a handful of others who are working on it!

We are now just under a month until this one is due! Again, I'm going to keep up with the regular reminders even though it's kinda far out, because I know that George does have several big fans around here who I don't want to forget about this!

Lists have started coming in since our last reminder, so that's a good thing at least! I won't say who they are though because I still need to enter those lists. Obviously this didn't get closed on the 31st, so I'm going to give one last extension. This will close on Friday September 30th. Hopefully that's enough time for LBTrocks to remember to do it, forget to do it, and then remember all over again to do it at the last minute before it's too late...
