Hey Kanenrá:ke , I see you getting caught up on rankdown results... If you see this, is this one you are interested in? I'm about to close it as soon as taylor sends a list, but I can wait for you if you're interested! I feel like you probably know George's albums well enough to do this pretty easily, lol.

'00s Album Tracks Rankdown: Results Time!
I'm still waiting for taylor's list, but in the meantime I thought I would post these prediction questions so we can start in on the fun! Like I said a second ago, if anyone else like Kanenrá:ke wants to slip in a list too while I wait for Tay, that is fine!! But I'm going to close it once I get Tay's list unless I hear from anyone else.
Questions to get us started:
1. What will be the winner? 2. What songs will make up the top 5? 3. What will be in last place? 4. Which songs will make up the bottom 5? 5. Which album will be the last to lose a song? 6. Which album will be the first to be completely eliminated? 7. Which album will be the last to still have multiple songs remaining? At what point in the rankdown will that happen? 8. George Strait and Twang bookended this decade. Which album will do better? 9. Any other thoughts/predictions?

This seems likes spitting in the wind. I really have no clue
1. What will be the winner? I'm going to go w/ a song from one of his better received albums (It Just Comes Natural): I Aint Her Cowboy Anymore
2. What songs will make up the top 5?
I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore Designated Drinker - Alan Jackson ft. George Beautiful Day For Goodbye House With No Doors A Better Rain
3. What will be in last place? Home Improvement? Band of Brothers?
4. Which songs will make up the bottom 5? Really NO clue
5. Which album will be the last to lose a song? It Just Comes Natural
6. Which album will be the first to be completely eliminated? George Strait
7. Which album will be the last to still have multiple songs remaining? At what point in the rankdown will that happen? It Just Comes Natural, top 10
8. George Strait and Twang bookended this decade. Which album will do better? Twang
9. Any other thoughts/predictions? this is going to be interesting...

1. What will be the winner? My money is on “As Far As It Goes” as it's always been looked at as one of the most overlooked single misses of George's career
2. What songs will make up the top 5? “As Far As It Goes”, “If It’s Gonna Rain”, “I Ain’t Her Cowboy Anymore”, and “House of Cash”…I could also see “Designated Drinker”, “The Road Less Traveled”, “She Used to Say That To Me”, and “Why Can’t I Leave Her Alone” being contenders
3. What will be in last place? “She Took the Wind From His Sails”
4. Which songs will make up the bottom 5? “She Took the Wind From His Sails”, “Arkansas Dave”, “Beautiful Day for Goodbye”, “Ready for the End of the World”, and “Good News, Bad News”
5. Which album will be the last to lose a song? Assuming “As Far As It Goes” wins then it would be Honkytonkville
6. Which album will be the first to be completely eliminated? Twang
7. Which album will be the last to still have multiple songs remaining? At what point in the rankdown will that happen? Either It Just Comes Natural or Honkytonkville and could very well come down to the top 5
8. George Strait and Twang bookended this decade. Which album will do better? Most would be inclined to guess Twang, but don’t underestimate his self-titled album as I think that is the one to watch. I expect "If It's Gonna Rain" and "Looking Out My Window Through the Pain" are going to do very well as is "Home Improvement". Heck, it wouldn't shock me to see "If It's Gonna Rain" actually win this thing!
9. Any other thoughts/predictions? I'm already expecting the unexpected as when it comes to album tracks I think our tastes vary quite a bit more. Given that, the results are going to be a bit all over the place and I'm sure I'll see more than my fair share of disappointments...bring 'em on!

Apologies for taking so long! I'm currently at the library, the nearest place where I could get some damn WiFi on my laptop...desperate times call for desperate measures!!! I'm currently finishing up listening to the playlist while I prepare to reveal Jake's album and send out reminders about all my other open RDs ;)

This was damn near impossible to rank! I loved literally every single song. No matter how this goes, it's gonna be painful for me

1. What will be the winner? I would not count "Texas" out as a potential winner; however, I'm not quite sure what else would be contenders. I'll hypothesize in the next question perhaps...
2. What songs will make up the top 5? "Texas", "As Far As It Goes", "I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore", "A Better Rain", and maybe "Honk If You Honky Tonk"?
3. What will be in last place? No clue; wild guess of "House with No Doors"?
4. Which songs will make up the bottom 5? Don't really know; guessing "House with No Doors", "She Took the Wind From His Sails", "The Real Thing", "Home Improvement", and "Out of Sight Out of Mind"?
5. Which album will be the last to lose a song? Not sure; going by my answer to #1, it would be Somewhere Down in Texas, but I could also see something else come out on top maybe from George Strait
6. Which album will be the first to be completely eliminated? Twang?
7. Which album will be the last to still have multiple songs remaining? At what point in the rankdown will that happen? This may be a reiteration of what I said in #5, but I think it'll come down to either George Strait or Somewhere Down in Texas with two songs in the top five.
8. George Strait and Twang bookended this decade. Which album will do better? Hopefully the former; then again, I could be wrong.
9. Any other thoughts/predictions? If it helps any, some of the tracks from Honkytonkville are starting to grow on me now... Also, it was great revisiting most of these songs; I ended up with a #1 that'll probably surprise a lot of people, me included! :o

This rankdown ain't for the faint of heart...It all might come together, or it all might come unraveled... That's not a hint. That's a statement of fact. Who's ready to begin? ;)

I was actually just looking back at my list and what I had at or near my top 10 and of two songs in particular "Give Me More Time" was the one that I assumed would be on the outs. I remember this receiving a lukewarm response in the Troubadour album rankdown, so I'm surprised I didn't have this on my radar as being a potential bottom 5 contender.

Welp, I think I know what this one is... Were you right?? My initial hunch was something else until I looked back over my list. Again, I'm surprised this wasn't on my radar for being at or near the bottom.

"Give Me More Time" was a pretty solid bottom contender in this rankdown. As you can see from the trajectory graph it bounced between the bottom 2 for most of the submission process. Still, it was nowhere near a runaway last place, as this only finishes two points lower than our #36 song!
This song is just like the title sounds! It shows various people facing time crunches, often in some of their most vulnerable and heartbreaking moments of their lives. A farmer about to lose his ranch to the bank despite all his hard work due to drought and poor crop yield, a woman about to lose her lover because she isn't quite ready to answer his proposal, a young man given bad news at the doctor and told he doesn't have very long to live... It is well-written, and you can honestly feel every word. The only reason this is so low on my list is because the competition is soooooooo insanely strong in this list!
Honestly, this song being this low is proof of just how strong this rankdown is. This song will finish with an average of 25.67. Out of 37 songs! That literally means the average rank for our last place song was like 12 entire positions higher than last place, and yet it finished last place anyway! On a 100-point scale, this will finish somewhere in the 60s, which will easily make it one of the top 10 highest-finishing rankdown last places of all time!

"The Middle Of Nowhere" is a great song and a pleasant listen! However, when stacked up against some of his all-time career-bests, it starts to feel a little bit average, at least to me. And this placement seems to indicate that y'all agree! @countrocks loses a top 10 already, but nobody else even put this in their top half.
And still, nobody has lost their last place!!

I've always quite enjoyed "The Middle of Nowhere" because it has such an easy-breezy feel to it which makes for a great song to put on for a road trip.

I'm still mystified at how well this performed in the Twang rankdown. I'm sorry, but no way should this have come out ahead of songs like "Where Have I Been All My Life" or "Easy As You Go".

Three reveals in, I am finally the first person to lose their last place! However, three more people join the top 10 losses, including .indulgecountry with the rankdown's very first top 5 loss This song was the HIGHEST album track on the Twang album rankdown, and I remember being completely flummoxed by that fact. This song is sooooooo average, lmao. I do still enjoy it a lot, as a George Stan, but I honestly would not have been disappointed to see this one miss out on this rankdown altogether. "Where Have I Been All My Life" feels like it deserved this rankdown more. But then again, this one was the highest from its album, so who am I to push back against y'all's faves! At least we got it in the right place here.

It would seem like such a rare feat though for the highest placing album track to then in turn wind up not just in the bottom 3 of the album tracks rankdown but also be the first from that album to leave.

With this reveal, the Troubadour album is officially the first one to suffer multiple losses! To me the dislike for "Brothers Of The Highway" feels pretty random, but then again this rankdown is super strong. Literally everybody ranked this higher than the position it ended up landing in except for one perfect ranking from gonecountry, and the average of the reveals continues to be more than 10 positions higher than the actual position. I have always enjoyed how many layers of harmony there are in the chorus of this song. It is a very unique sound from George. And of course the celebration of truckers is a theme he had never done before, so I am sure this song would be more well-received by that industry than it is here!

From the looks of it, "Brothers Of The Highway" just wasn't able to gain enough support outside of those of us that put it at or near the top 30. Country music and trucker songs go hand in hand as there's plenty of them to go around, but I think this was actually George's first he recorded about truck drivers. There's just something about this song that really works and seems like only someone like George could pull this type of delivery off with those lyrics. I have to admit it may not be a go-to song for me, but whenever it does happen to come on I jam out to it every time!

Surprisingly, The Road Less Traveled is already the second album to lose multiple songs "The Real Thing" isn't my favorite in this playlist by any means, but it definitely stands out and is pretty memorable.
