The worst part about this is that artists AND songwriters both get fucked over by producers and labels.
Unlike the Napster-go-round, the labels hog all the profits from streaming so everyone else gets pittance, except songwriters can't tour and perform to get money unless they are also songwriters themselves or have a publishing stake.

Beyonce's not gonna be happy about this. She was also the first person I thought of, and I'm sure we're not alone lolol I mean no denying she definitely probably has instances of getting credit for doing the absolute bare minimum, but I imagine this isn't gonna affect her. She's one of those artists that is so huge/superstar if you are given a chance to write for her you're not going to be making demands lol. And I do believe for the most part today she does try to be apart of the creative process even if not the main contributor... Always found it weird there was no type of guide or rule that you had to have contributed atleast a 3+ lines of a song/wrote over 5-10% of lyrics/something along those lines with songwriting. It's weird people can get credits technically for changing one word or simply being present in the room while a song was created. I imagine it's harder to implement and monitor in reality though.

The self-titled album felt like a turning point for her creative involvement and a commitment to full control of the vision. It’s not great that I still associate her with fake songwriting credits 8 years later..

LOL none of those songwriters have song with Beyonce. let the hate and brainwash go. and again, y'all still don't know how the credit works.. modern songwriting credit is beyond just technical songwriting aspect which is why credit got so much longer and messy. also artists are least problem in this mess when real mess comes from Producers so this movement is going nowhere without addressing that or remove them. but they can't. from recent WSJ article on songwriting credit issue.
