"Western Girls" was released by Marty Stuart in September 1990 as the fourth single from the album Hillbilly Rock and reached #20 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. While I knew that this song wasn't likely to perform much better, there's just no way I could've left it out as it's one that I remember quite well (and it's not just because of the George Strait line lol). I also knew though that this was likely both to have fans as well as detractors as Marty Stuart seems to be a rather polarizing and underrated artist on Pulse. Those that don't care much for Marty are a vocal bunch and of course we see most of them down either in the bottom 10 or 20 including a pair of bottom 5s from 🌺CountryLineDancer and taylor. While it did pick up some support as four participants placed this in their top 50, it was going to take a lot more than that to move the needle on this one.

"Nobody's Talking" was released by country music group Exile in March 1990 as the second single from their album Still Standing. The song reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in July 1990. The albums third single, "Yet", would also chart this year and became their final Top 10 hit. Unfortunately CoJoFan loses a second top 15 ranking and has yet another one of his initial rankings get bludgeoned with a handful of bottom 10 and 20 rankings. This actually managed to mostly stay outside of the bottom 10 over the course of its run and only slid back into that position with the final two submissions. Kanenrá:ke loses his last place song while I also lose a bottom 10.

The next two songs are tied in points with the tie-breaker going to the song with a lone top 20 ranking. Oh, both of the songs are also from the same artist! Who might that be?!

Eddie Rabbitt? Alabama, Clint Black, or The Judds can leave anytime, but I think they are popular among some of us here, so...

Leaving back-to-back from Ricky Van Shelton are "I Meant Every Word He Said" and "Statue of a Fool" of which both were Top 2 hits for him in 1990. The former was released as the third single from Ricky's third studio album (aptly titled RVS III) which sees Kanenrá:ke lose a top 30 after just losing his last place. Both myself and 🌺CountryLineDancer lose a top 50 while four others lose a bottom 5 including ClevelandRox 's last place and a bottom 2 from LBTrocks . "Statue of a Fool" was released as the lead single to RVS III which this time has Kanenrá:ke losing a top 20. And in quick fashion ClevelandRox loses both of his bottom 2 songs with four others losing a bottom 10. I may not have ranked either of these songs as high as ClevelandRox might've thought (I did give him a pretty hard time for them lol), but those rankings in no way quite reflect how much I love them both (I even own this album on vinyl!). Ricky Van Shelton is such an underrated artist and at the time was one of the biggest hitmakers in the industry (he was even nominated for the CMA Enterainter of the Year in 1990). His long absence from country music certainly hasn't helped his legacy and for the most part radio doesn't play him (you may still hear hits such as "Backroads" or "Keep It Between the Lines" though). That still leaves us with his #1 hit "I've Cried My Last Tear for You". Will he be able to escape the bottom 20 or 30?!

"Wrong" was released in May 1990 as the first single from his album The Eagle and was also Waylon's last top ten hit of his career, and his first since "Rough and Rowdy Days" three years previous. While this was an early top 50 contender, it quickly fell to the back and even briefly flirted with the bottom 10. It was thanks to gardyfan's top 5 ranking that gave this a little bit of breathing room and pushed this back outside of that. Unfortunately for him though he becomes our first participant to lose a top 5 and also the first to lose two top 10s. At the other end we have four bottom 10 rankings including a last place from Cody Wants Out.... I've always quite enjoyed this song myself and do somewhat remember hearing it on the radio when I was younger. Wayon is another artist though of whom I'm really only familiar with his signature hits and at some point I need to take the time to do a deeper dive into his discography.

"If You Could Only See Me Now" was released in April 1990 as the first single from the album Bumper to Bumper and reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. After having just lost a top 5 ranking, this time gardyfan scores a perfect ranking as he put this just outside of his bottom 10. Despite its initial start outside of the bottom 30, it would more or less bounce around in the bottom 20 for the rest of its run as it was never able to pick up anything more than a few top 50 rankings. It also didn't help matters that this picked up five bottom 10 rankings with an additional bottom 20 from .indulgecountry .
