I should've :kii: Easily her best record sonically. I NEED more of this sound on her next regular country album. I LOVE every second of this album vocally. I was taken to heaven and back!!!

This may be a silly question - why is this album on the Country chart? Yes, Carrie is a core country artist. But, you did not see Taylor Swift's pop albums chart country just because Taylor had a prior history in the format. Similarly, Willie Nelson has recorded some jazz albums recently that did not chart country. This is not a slight against Carrie or the album - her amazing ACM performance was far and away the best part of the show. But, is this album country as well as Christian/gospel/spiritual?

I'd say it's still got country production. I'd say Carrie's in a similar boat to Reba's gospel album a couple years ago. It made plenty of sense for her to chart on the country charts with it because of the way it sounded, but then it also made total sense for her to win a Grammy in the gospel category. It seems like albums by country artists continue to chart in country even if they are not specifically country albums, as long as the artist is still marketed as country. For example, Martina McBride's soul/R&B covers album from a few years ago also charted on the country charts (even going #1 on the country albums chart, and then making headlines for being the only independently-released female country album to ever do so, lol). Whereas Taylor completely stopped being marketed as country, so her situation is a little bit different. Regarding Willie, I have no idea what his situation is... No offense to the man, but the Country market is quite a bit larger and more competitive than the Jazz market, so if he charted on Jazz album charts but not Country maybe it's just because he didn't sell enough to register on the county charts? Either that or he's far enough away from the mainstream consciousness that he can kinda push for whatever he wants? Tl;dr, there are no obvious rules for any of it, and it definitely doesn't make total sense, but it is what it is ;)

Because the instrumentation on it is very country sounding. Has a very southern gospel feel. Harmonica, guitar, and other country instrumentation.

Yeah, this is definitely still a Christian/Gospel album done through a Country music lens. Plenty of country artists have charted with Christian/Gospel projects in the past on the country charts from Randy Travis to Reba McEntire to Alan Jackson, etc. It would be just plain weird for it not be on the Country chart imo.
