I don't see a thread for the original release of this album, so since there are new songs on this edition, I figured a thread was appropriate. Taylor Swift's remastered sophomore album Fearless (Taylor's Version) is available now!
Listening in order right now and I'm on Track 8 and I've had as many emotional breakdowns, lol. Her voice is so much more matured, it's night and day.

Are the Taylor’s versions just re/recorded versions of the songs or the actual original recordings?

Are the Taylor’s versions just re/recorded versions of the songs or the actual original recordings? She is re-recording them on her own dime to own these recordings. They are definitely new recordings, her voice has matured noticeably.

I bought the CD at Target mainly for the Maren and Keith Urban collaborations but are the older songs better now since she did re-record them?

Some people like them better, some like the originals. I haven't personally listened to the new one so I can't really give an opinion.

I love the original Fearless album when it was released, but aside from a few songs, I do not revisit it that much. With the re-release, I love the feeling of listening to it again and reliving the moment 13 years ago when I fell in love with the album. There are also some songs I do not appreciate much before, but I like it now with the new version like "Tell Me Why", "Today Was A Fairytale", etc. I also love how Fifteen is much better now imo because she is 31 looking back at her 15-year-old self, compared to before that she's just 17 talking about immaturities of 15. For an average listener, you'll probably not notice the difference that much, but her voice is much fuller now and less annoying (in some songs) compared to the original version. Though of course, I would understand some people saying that the emotions and conviction is better before. Overall, I would definitely not revisit the original album and just have this on repeat on all my playlists - which is Taylor's goal anyway, so it's a win for her regardless of chart performance.
For the vault songs, I would say "Mr Perfectly Fine" is one of her best songs from that era, and I still wonder why it did not make the album. The duet with Keith Urban is nice as well, also considering that she is the opening act of Keith during the Fearless era.

Listening to it you can really hear the difference in her voice, but I think I preferred the sound of these songs on her 17 year old voice. There’s something missing about most of these.
Now 3 songs did improve though. “Forever & Always” “Tell Me Why” and “Change”. The latter two because the originals sounded horrible.
The new tracks don’t have a comparison but I like them all, if only for all these bonus tracks seeing the light of day it’s so worth it.
