Uptown Funk seems to be universally loved (at least during it's initial chart run) Hated it then and still hate it now. His Morris Day tribute act is wearing thin. You're in the minority, most people love Uptown Funk.

I find "Uptown Funk!" to be massively overrated, and its overplay still haunts me. However, while I wouldn't put it in my top 20 Bruno songs, I can still acknowledge it's an incredibly well-produced song and a textbook example of throwback done right, and features a very charismatic and confident performance from Mr. Mars. Indeed, as leonagwen mentioned, the majority of people love it, and outside of the tired critism of Bruno being a 'tribute act', there is no valid reason to truly hate the song on its own. Indifference? Sure. Annoyance at the overplay and praise? Absolutely. But nothing that would warrant it being in a worst list.

Uptown Funk is... just there I guess? If people want funky jams they probably revisit other tracks.

You could have quoted me and replied directly to me instead of being passive aggressive and shady about it. I have a hard time accepting anything Bruno Mars does as sincere because I was around for artists like Al Green, James Brown, Morris Day, and Prince who did everything and so much more better than Bruno ever could or ever will. It feels really insulting to my intelligence to be told that what he is doing is groundbreaking and revolutionary when in reality it is not.

NARCISSIST ELOQUENT QUEEN™ I did paraphrase what you said, but I've heard similar complaints coming from many others, so it was no use to target one person in particular. Anyway...I beg your pardon, but who is telling you that Bruno is being groundbreaking and revolutionary? Most acknowledge that he carries his influences on his sleeve, and he's praised for bringing these styles back to mainstream music, but that's it. Bruno Mars never tried to present himself as an innovator. For goodness sake, the man began as an Elvis impersonator! He's just having fun paying tribute to the music he grew up with, and I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with that. Al Green, Morris Day, and Prince still have their catalogue available on streaming, and I know Prince in particular is unanimously regarded as a legend. You can say he more often than not veers toward pastiche - that's true. But there is a clear element of sincerity and love to what he does. Sure, it's all love for the past, but it's still great that someone takes advantage of their star power to re-introduce underrated genres like New Jack Swing to newer generations. That's why Bruno Mars is so beloved. Cee Lo Green got a second run of success thanks to Bruno's co-writing on the soulful "F**k You". And of course, he recently helped Anderson Paak get mainstream recognition at last with a tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire.

Did you really need to tag me? Leona, I’m shocked at you and the rudeness presented here! 😔 You were tagged as an acknowledgement of something you said that contributed to the conversation. It was done out of respect, not annoyance, to ensure you saw you were being given credit for your contribution rather than someone stealing your thought as if you didn’t exist.
